Booked a “mystery holiday” through Groupon with this people and honestly… all they do is ask for extra money.
They make it sound like you’ll get a lovely trip, but then they send you to Poland — and even that comes with extra fees.

I only asked them to check the price from Manchester, and when I said to leave it as London like the original plan, they suddenly wanted to charge me extra to “change it back,” even though I never asked them to change anything in the first place.

They never explain the terms and conditions properly, and when they try, they speak so fast you can’t even understand what they’re saying.

And on top of all that, they refuse to refund you under any circumstances, no matter what happens in your life. It feels completely unfair and misleading.

Firstly, we would like to confirm that the Mystery Holiday is clearly advertised as a promotional product, with destinations allocated at random and prices based on a specific departure airport and availability at the time of booking.

Any variations—such as changing the departure airport, travel dates, or flight times—are subject to airline availability and fare differences, which may result in additional charges. These are airline-imposed costs, not discretionary charges applied by us.

Regarding your comment about Manchester and London departures, we would like to clarify that a written confirmation email was sent to you clearly outlining the departure airport, destination, and any applicable supplements.

The holiday was only booked after your explicit written confirmation was received. At no point was any booking actioned without your approval. When you later requested changes, even if this was to revert to an earlier option, the flights originally secured could not be reused, as airline tickets are non-refundable and non-changeable once issued.

As a result, any amendment required the purchase of new flights, which naturally involved additional costs set by the airline. This is standard industry practice and is clearly explained prior to booking.

With regard to the terms and conditions, these are provided in writing and made available before purchase and again during the booking process. We also take care to explain them verbally, however; the written confirmation remains the official and binding reference, ensuring transparency and allowing customers to review the details at their own pace.

Finally, concerning refunds, the Mystery Holiday is a heavily discounted, promotional product, and as clearly stated in the terms and conditions, it is non-refundable once confirmed. This policy is standard for such offers and is applied consistently. While we fully empathise with unforeseen personal circumstances, we must operate in line with supplier and airline rules, which unfortunately do not allow refunds once flights are issued.

We strongly refute any suggestion that the product is unfair or misleading. The holiday was booked exactly as confirmed by you in writing, and any additional costs arose solely due to requested changes and non-refundable airline fare rules, which are outside our control.

We regret that the experience did not meet your expectations and thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

Bed bugs with no real resolution

The company booked me a room at a hotel that had bedbugs. When contacted they tried to claim i did not go to the desk and let them know then claimed I went to the desk to check out. I went to the desk notified them of the issue and checked out. They are refusing to help me with any sort of refund and expect me to eat the $500+ cost of the vouchers and extra fees.

Update: they now are offering me $71.85 which isn't even half of what I paid for a new room. They are requesting i update or take down this post.

Every step of contact with them has been miserable. Theyre rude. They do not let you speak if on the phone. Theyre holding the $71 until I take down this review. Below is a word for word copy of the email.

I responded: Yea im not deleting it at all. Im actually updating it to reflect the absolute joke your company is.

Have the day you deserve.

The email thread has continued with them offering $171 to my card and a $90 Amazon voucher that they then revoked and offered $100 to my card and a $90 Amazon card.

No this does not meet my expectations. Here's a cost breakdown.

Vouchers: $398
Extra fee to fly from Cincinnati: $100
Seats on the flight to be able to sit with my husband on our honeymoon: $33
Carry on bag: $99
Hotel to stay in after bed bugs were found in the original room: $143

This totals to: $773

A refund of $100 to my card and $90 to Amazon is absolutely not sufficient for the absolute disaster that was our trip booked through your services. That was the absolute worst trip I have ever been on and it was my honeymoon. Its extremely disappointing that it was ruined.

This is not a "customer first" company. It is a scam.

1. Hotel Issues & Supplier Investigation
All hotel rooms are booked through our external suppliers. When a customer reports an issue such as bed bugs, we are legally required to follow the supplier’s investigation process before issuing any refund or compensation.

This is not us refusing to help — it is standard procedure across the travel industry.

In your case, we contacted the supplier immediately. While waiting for their findings, we still offered a goodwill resolution despite not yet receiving a finalised confirmation from them.

2. Compensation Offered
You have stated that we “refused to help,” which is not accurate.
You were offered:

$71.85 initially, based on the supplier’s first response,
Followed by increased goodwill offers far beyond the supplier’s approved amount, including:

Later revised to $100 back to your card + $90 Amazon voucher.
These offers were goodwill gestures made even though the supplier did not approve a full refund for the booking.

3. Request to Update the Review
You stated we “held the refund until the review was removed.”
This is not correct.

Our communication asked for an update to the review after a resolution had been accepted, which is a standard and transparent request.

It is optional, and customers are free to decline — which you did.
At no point was a refund “refused unless you removed the review.”
You declined the resolution, and therefore the process remained incomplete.

4. Costs Outside Our Package
Several costs you listed — such as seating choices, baggage, and independently booked alternative accommodation — were extras selected by you directly with the airline/hotel, not part of our package and not charged or controlled by us.

A Mystery Holiday voucher covers flights and hotel as part of the discounted deal.

Additional personal upgrades or optional extras cannot be refunded by us, as they were never paid to us.

6. Customer Service
We are sorry if you felt the service was not satisfactory. We have reviewed the communication logs, and our team remained professional and provided multiple resolutions, including increased goodwill beyond what the supplier authorised.

In Summary
We appreciate your frustration, particularly as this was your honeymoon.

However, for transparency to future customers reading this review, it is important to clarify that:

We did follow the correct process required by suppliers.

Multiple goodwill resolutions were offered, despite the supplier not approving a full refund.

Refunds were not dependent on removing a review.
Several costs mentioned were optional add-ons not included in your Mystery package.

Beware of the Groupon and Weekend Breaks Mystery Break Scam

Beware of the Groupon and Weekend Breaks Mystery Break - this is basically a scam! I would give it 0 stars if there was such an option. And the fact that they flagged my review for containing defamatory content is quite telling in itself.

I purchased a voucher based on their advertised offer and complied fully with the merchant's requirements by submitting three available travel dates. The Groupon website explicitly states that "destinations are drawn at random based on your preferred travel dates and departure airports," which clearly indicates that providing preferred dates is a prerequisite for receiving a compatible destination.

Despite this representation, the merchant disregarded my submitted availability entirely and offered dates when I could not travel, i.e. late January or midweek February. Both completely incompatible with my provided availability. Both offers bore no relation to my submitted dates, rendering the vouchers entirely unusable despite my full compliance with the stated booking process.

Their practice constitutes a clear breach of consumer protection regulations due to:

1) Misleading advertising regarding the matching of destinations to preferred travel dates
2) Failure to deliver the service as described on their platform
3)Misrepresentation of how the booking system operates.

This is clearly outlined in the product terms and conditions available at the time of purchase. The destinations and travel dates offered to you were selected based on availability from our suppliers at the time your booking was processed.

Unfortunately, due to limited inventory, it was not possible to match the exact dates you initially requested. This does not indicate a disregard of your submission, but rather reflects real-time availability constraints, which are inherent to this type of promotional and heavily discounted product.

We strongly refute any suggestion of misleading advertising or misrepresentation. The booking process, random allocation mechanism, and date flexibility requirements are transparently stated on the Groupon platform, and the service is delivered in line with those published terms.

That said, as a gesture of goodwill and without any admission of liability or breach, we can confirm that the full voucher amount has already been refunded to you. This refund was processed to ensure closure of the matter and to maintain a positive customer experience, despite the product being operated in accordance with the advertised conditions.

Groupon deal nice experience

A few months ago, I bought a Groupon to travel with my friend through Weekend Breaks, and everything has been absolutely perfect from start to finish.

The agency’s support was excellent — we always felt well taken care of, and whenever a small issue came up, they solved it quickly and efficiently.

Samrat handled our booking and went above and beyond to find flights that maximized our travel experience. Later on, in the resolutions team, Sanjay helped us very promptly and professionally.

Their phone support hours are very convenient, and the whole team is well synchronized — everyone seems to know exactly what’s going on with your booking, which gives you great peace of mind.

Overall, we had an amazing experience with both the trip itself and the way the agency handled everything. I highly recommend it. Hotel and Airline was good and we felt safe all the time.

It’s just a scam 🤣

Decided to do the mystery holiday for a break away as we weren’t fussed about where to go but wanted a little holiday.

Oh my goodness, this is the biggest scam I’ve ever experienced. We paid extra for a summer deal (April-July) only to be told when the “draw” happened that the 3 dates we had chosen weren’t available (all mid-late June) and they could only offer us a deal at the start of April (literally told me there wasn’t any availability in the entire months of May and June without paying an extra £70 per person) so firstly we could have saved £80 and booked a trip to leave a few days earlier.

Secondly, I was then told that they weren’t available on weekends???? I questioned where in the t&cs it said it had to be a Monday-Wednesday departure and of course it doesn’t say this anywhere because no one would buy this on the basis.

In all, it was going to cost £330 for a 2 night stay, 15 minutes drive away from a city centre in a 3 star hotel with no windows.

I had to call back a few times as the agent kept hanging up on me. The service was poor and they just want to charge you extra to make some commission otherwise you are a pointless call for them.

Honestly, it all seems fun but don’t waste your time! Absolute scammers.

Firstly, when purchasing a Mystery Holiday, the key feature of the product is that the destination, hotel, flight timings, and dates remain a mystery until the booking is allocated. While we do take your preferred travel dates as a preference, these are not guaranteed and are always subject to availability. This is the nature of the package and is the reason it is offered at a significantly discounted price.

We would also like to mention for full clarity that you have received updates throughout the process, and we have already processed a refund for your booking as you did not wish to proceed with the holiday.

Regarding the comment about additional charges for regional airports, the Terms & Conditions do state that departures from non-London airports require a £40 per person supplement, as these airports have limited availability and higher operating costs. This information is available before purchase and is highlighted to ensure customers are aware.

You also mentioned that the dates offered were Monday–Wednesday and questioned where this is mentioned in the T&Cs. While we understand the concern, it is equally important to note that the T&Cs also do not state that travel will be allocated on weekends. Because this is a discounted mystery deal, all travel is subject to availability, and weekends, peak periods, and high-demand dates tend to have limited availability with airlines and hotels unless a supplement is paid.

We also apologise if you felt the customer service experience did not meet your expectations. This is certainly not the level of service we aim to deliver, and we will be reviewing the call logs to ensure the matter is addressed appropriately.

We appreciate you sharing your perspective; however, it is important for us to clarify how the product operates so customers can make an informed decision. Mystery deals are ideal for travellers who are flexible and open to a variety of travel options at a reduced rate. For customers requiring guaranteed dates, specific destinations, or weekend travel, we always recommend choosing a standard holiday package instead.

Rohan Ginotra Exceptional Customer Service!

I used this service to book a holiday abroad for a few nights. I really appreciate Rohan Ginotra taking the time to search for deals and go through hotel and flight options with me. I was on the phone with him for over an hour and he was really good. Honestly he has the patience of a saint and should be commended! Excellent Customer Service!
