Shockingly bad records. I was a tenant though Alex Neil 2018-2019. My new agent today asked them for a reference. First they said the property wasn’t managed by them (it was) then that I never was a tenant (I was) then all payments I made were made directly to the landlord (the weren’t and I provided them with email payment confirmations from Alex Neil’s own systems to me) then that they never inspected the property (I then provided them with their own emails to me confirming inspection dates and their own “good” assessment results.) then after all then they said they would only be able to provide a payment reference as their systems didn’t talk to each other properly.

I mean, I only paid them over £20,000 in rental payments over a 12 month period, so why on earth *should* I expect them to be remotely competent?

Alex Neil never stops to disappoint me.
I move into a flat manged from Alex Neil two years ago and since day one they didn't get a single thing right.
They let the house in a terrible condition and I was unable to move in at the agreed date because of lack of cleanliness and many other issues. The biggest problem is that they've refused to resolve the issues and have been consistently unresponsive and extremely rude. Now, after two years, I'm finally moving out of the property and of course, one last thing happened. They are trying to charge me with a 60£ fee for a Landlord reference although it is illegal since June 1, 2020, to charge tenants with references fee accordingly with the Government Tenant guidance. This applies regardless of when your tenancy started. Of course, they are trying to get money from people who don't know this information or they need to get references quickly. Luckily enough I'm finally moving out of this property and I will never have to deal with these people again.

Like every other estate agency in London, this one is no exception. My partner and I have lived in the city for over 5 years as professionals and were renting a lovely, clean, new-ish, 1 bed flat.

As soon as they had our money and names on the contract, they went from "friendly and helpful" to "unresponsive, unhelpful and under qualified". From not issuing 2 sets of keys (accusing us that we lost them and said we had to pay for a new set, but then they mysteriously found the keys a week later in their office and with no apology asked us to come and collect), to neglecting emails (majority of the emails weren't answered, even after 2-3 follow-up emails were sent), all the way through to trying to charge us a £70 reference fee (which is now very illegal, but they are still trying to sneakily slide it on the contract).

It has been over 2 weeks since we have moved out and no one from the accounts team or deposit team has been in contact with us, even after I have emailed them continuously. I have been a professional cleaner in the past and left the place in better state than it was handed to us, so I have no doubt we are entitled to our full deposit however the lack of communication and urgency is appalling (especially during COVID-19).

I would be giving zero stars if it wasn't for Rabeya (she deserves 6 stars and a cookie). Rabeya is the only person working at Alex Neil in Bethnal Green that is organised, caring, and is more than qualified in customer experience and management as a property co-ordinator. If you are stuck corresponding with Eva or Bora, then I suggest you purchase a punching bag or stress ball to release your frustration.

Don't be fooled by their recently updated logo. Just because they recently changed the colours from the standard red and blue to a classy grey and rose gold with some edgy font, doesn't automatically make you a luxury company, it makes you look like a poser.

I Have always been wary of prospect of dealing with estate agents due to some of the negative stigma that surrounds them but it was a complete pleasure dealing with Daniel in the Roman road office.
As a first time buyer it was daunting, but Daniel helped us navigate the property market and helped us to find our new home.
He kept in regular contact with me, sending over new property’s and arranging quick viewings until I found the one!
He then continued to give me great advice, ‘even telling me to search around to get multiple quotes from solicitors’ but ended up using the one he recommended as there quote was the best.

The continuity of care has been great!

I am giving this review 2 stars only as it is a reflection on the Alex Neil agency functioning (dysfunctionality) and its team not bearing any individual responsibility for their actions at work.
My overall impression of Alex Neil is that no one is responsible for anything there. I can't say the same about Peter James' agency ladies, for instance.
However, I found only one person there worthy of 5 stars and this is Rabeya Khatun!
So far, she was the only person who takes up full responsibility for her actions and follows through the problem as it is her own.
Rabeya is a true Leader in her position and deserves a promotion and managerial/supervisory post.
The rest of the team didn't impress me at all.

Have had a property let and managed by Alex Neil for a few years now. Service has been previously hit and miss. Then Rabeya came into the picture and she is a credit to the team. It has been really good having her be the point of contact.

I recently bought a property through the Surrey Quays branch and (apart from Sara) these are the biggest bunch of cowboys ever. I was utterly appalled by their incompetence and rudeness. I would now actively avoid buying a property through them. I have deliberately hidden my name as I don't want any repercussions from this review. And I know they will say as I haven't given them details they can't 'correct' their mistake. But I don't want a token gesture for me, they need to drastically improve as an Estate Agent overall. From start to finish they were an absolute nightmare. And by all accounts they're not much better for renting either. The property I bought was previously rented and by talking with the old tenants they told me Alex Neil hadn't fixed problems they had been asking to be fixed for the last 2 years! Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Registered to schedule a viewing and got called the same day. After that I was called to reschedule 3 times and the last time I was called just 40 mins before the viewing - the lady was acting like this is normal, no apology. Refused to reschedule as I wouldn’t risk such lack of reliability and respect

I rented a property from Alex Neil and the agency managed it for about 8 years. I would say it's by far one of the worst managed companies and it has no proper customer service. Once you are in its system its staff members won't care about you. Its employees are incompetent and extremely rude.

Once a staff member hung up on me because she was super impatient and didn't want to listen to my simple questions and issues I had in the property. I would never use AN to rent/buy or manage my property. You would simply regret!
Even my former landlord who contracted AN to manage some of his properties mentioned that its employees were incompetent.

I think the issue is that AN doesn't offer proper training to its employees. In addition, its branches are located in the areas where property demand is very high. You're worth nothing as a client.

If you rent from AN, and if any issue(s) occurs it would take weeks or even months to get it sorted. I didn't find its staff members who I met during my tenancy helpful or honest. The reason why I stayed in the property was that I loved the location and the property itself. Otherwise I wouldn't have stayed with AN as a client for a second.

Do NOT go to Alex Neil.
I initially had a rocky start with not getting the information required though a change in property manager internally helped. Unfortunately she and the woman who found my home were the only highlights of working with Alex Neil. When I went to move out, the landlord tried repeatedly to screw me out of all my deposit due to the previous tenants using it as an airbnb and ruining quite a few things. Though it was documented, the landlord still refused to give me what I was due from my deposit. I eventually gave in and allowed 3/4 more of what was deemed fair in order to get my money, 2 months later. No one fought on my side, no one cared that it was obvious the landlord was screwing me due to the previous tenants. They do not care about the tenants, only the owners. I have NEVER in my life renting had to pay so much. I feel cheated by Alex Neil.

With a situation that could have been both damaging and expensive Rabeya has acted quickly that all parties now have access to the information. This was particularly appreciated as we were moving to the end of Friday.

Honest, reliable and professional!! I’ve just sold my house in Bow through Alex Neil- we went under offer with the first week of going on the market with them. The sales team were second to none and trust me I know as this is not my first rodeo! The sales progressor is an absolute Gem and kept us updated throughout! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AGENT - the best in the area actually!

Alex Neil have been managing my flat in Croydon for me for almost 3 years now. We've just agreed the renewal of the tenancy with them for a 4th year and I couldn't be more pleased.

Had a very good experience with this company selling my flat in Bow. Bora and Matteo offered a very good service and the progression team were very useful. Will use this company again.
