smells like sewage, had plastic and glass in it, and is now attracting flies..I have never bought such terrible compost before.. Compost is not meant to smell like sewage, this means it has gone anaerobic, and is not useable.

This compost smells strongly of stale manure, and when I used it to pot up some bedding plants, they all died. I bought three bags, but the two unused ones will be returned to the shop. Do not buy this product.

I bought a bag of this yesterday & used some to top up existing pots, it has a strong aroma, it absolutely stinks, I thought something had died in the shed. I won’t be using the rest of the bag.

I'd love to know how they label this as Farmyard Manure when, according to their website it only contains 8% organic matter.

Surely Farmyard Manure is 100% organic material?

So it looks like they are cutting it with something and mis-selling it, or at least mis-labelling it as 92% isn't organic matter...

I would strongly advise anyone considering Supagrow Organic Compost to look elsewhere.

In my experience, the smell was absolutely unbearable. It wasn’t just the normal earthy smell you’d expect from compost—it was overwhelmingly foul and lingered for nearly two weeks, making it unpleasant to spend any time in the garden.

Even worse, after mixing it into my beds, several well-established plants that had been thriving started to decline and eventually died. I’ve never had this happen before, and the compost was the only significant change I made. It has been incredibly disappointing, especially after the time and money invested in those plants.

Based on my experience, I won’t be buying this product again, and I would urge future buyers to think carefully before using it. I certainly wish I’d chosen a different compost.

Used this compost for the first time to pot on established plants to larger pots. Total disaster all the plants died within hours. Did a test by replanting another plant in the compost. The result was the same the death of the plant within hours.

My fault for buying cheap and not reading the label properly as I didn’t realise until too late this wasn’t multipurpose compost for potting up. It was sold next to all the multipurpose ones and I was in a rush. But what I got in the 3 bags of supagrow organic compost is the smelliest, driest compost I’ve ever encountered. I ploughed ahead and planted up 3 large planters- within 2 days everything was wilting and the smell was overpowering so I had no choice but to dig everything back up and buy more multipurpose compost and repot. It’s been a massive pain. It does say for digging into beds/borders but I am now wary of where to dig this in as I don’t want to kill any of my established plants and it truly stinks of manure. Avoid.

I think it is put some manure, so it smells like manure(stinky). It's ideally for bedding, mixing into compost and sand. It's too strong if only this for vegetables, especially seedlings.

This is absolutely diabolical the smell is beyond anything ive ever smelt. Four bags. Won't ever purchase from yous again its grey looking. Smells like the farmer's feild. After its been sprayed. With crap

I purchased 8 bags of SupaGrow compost from Wickes for use on my allotment.

The compost itself is quite dense and quite wiffy (manure style nothing sinister). So far the plants all seem to be growing quite well.

Whilst filling out my beds I unfortunately identified some glass fragments throughout the compost.

Why 5 stars you ask? I reached out to the email address on the back of the bag (not allowed to post the address on trustpilot) to query the contamination and have had by far the best customer experience I can recall.

Dave reached back to me very quickly to identify the batch numbers and investigate the potential causes. On top of this he organised a refund and some new compost to be sent directly to me.

After speaking with Dave I felt that he genuinely cared about the issue and investigated. I can't fault Dave or SupaGrow compost.

Will definitely be buying from them again in the future.

I've just spent a good two hours carefully removing the SupaGrow organic compost I used to repot my two precious false acacia trees, some four weeks ago.
When repotting into much larger vessels, i luckily used a mixture of garden soil, adding this excrement-smelling so called 'compost' in, hoping that it would boost the trees' growth, rather than threaten their actual existence! I think the least you can expect from compost is that it will preserve your plant's life and hopefully and ideally, enhance it!
After four weeks, the trees were showing signs of deterioration, with shoots dying and the leaves not unfurling properly. Other smaller plants struggled and gave up in this sewerage smelling filth.
At least now from today they can begin their fight back to life and I can rest easy in the knowledge that I have saved them from certain death.
My only regret is I have to award this product one star!

It's profit above quality. This is certainly not composted organic matter but it is a water repellent material. Water does not get through it. No plant can survive in this even if you add grit.

Overpowering ammonia smell. This is not fit for growing in. It may be made from organic matter but smells like that matter is from dog waste. Nothing is growing in it, it is killing seedlings off and attracting flies.

I wish that we had read these reviews before using this compost to plant out our sweet pea seedlings. They were thriving until we potted them on using this compost. Within a day they had all wilted, we tried to revive them but to no avail. They are all now dead.

I don't even know where to start..avoid buying this so called compost at all costs!
I bought few bags from Range to plant my hydrangeas and other plants in my new made flower bed.
First when I was opening the bag I noticed that the compost is very grey/mold colour and it smells really bad of animal faeces but I carried on planting thinking it's normal for organic compost to be like that.
My the time I finished and watered my newly made flower beds the smell was so bad I couldn't sit in the garden for more than 10 minutes! I am not exaggerating!
Next afternoon came back to check on my plants only to find out the soil is full of disgusting yellow dung flies! There are thousands of them right now on my plants and in my flower bed laying eggs and swarming in the soil. I just don't know what to do, to remove my expensive plants that I planted and remove the disgusting compost or to wait and see what happens next. The flies are truly disgusting, I suspect there were eggs or larvae already in the compost.
I honestly don't know how are they allowed to sell something like that it should be illegal as my flower beds are now infested and infected with god knows what and the smell is horrendous.
I am going back to the Range to place a complaint about it and I hope that no-one buys this so called organic compost full of s... t and infestation.

I have never complained about compost before, I reported 24 tomato seedlings at the weekend in this compost, two varieties of which I have no seeds left. Every plant is dead, The ones in the homegrown compost in a tray are still alive. This compost smells so bad like a combination of horse manure and petrol. It was a grey colour in parts in the bag. This was purchased from the Range.

It does just fine to.top up beds and outdoor pots but it's absolutely stinks! Of all my years home gardening and allotment I've never come across a smellier compost. How does it even get like this????

This compost and topsoil has been great for topping up my new garden allotment beds. We put in 5 very large beds and managed to get them really full using manure from the local stables and about 30 bags of supagrow to top it all off. On one of the beds I also added 4 bags of topsoil to give the soil more structure. We managed all of this for next to nothing, and it was a great growing season.

Bought 15 bags of compost from Wickes for my allotment. Took photo but not sure I can upload it here. Really poor and I am going to look for a refund at least for the unopened bags if not all as im going to have check the product already opened very poor.
