A friend and I visited the Delta Hotel Marriott (at Manchester Airport) as part of the "San Carlo Deluxe Spa Day" booked via spaseekers.com.

This was a birthday treat for my friend but unfortunately it was the worst spa day we have ever had, and it wasn't cheap (£243). I summarise the problems we had below:

- Upon arrival, we stood in the queue at the 'spa' reception, alongside families with babies and children who were waiting to use the pool. We quickly realised that it was just a normal swimming pool inside the hotel. I thought it would be relaxing spa day, but sadly this was spoilt by the screams of babies and children playing with inflatables in the pool. 

- We couldn't believe it, but there was a television built into the wooden wall slats inside the sauna. This is the last place I would expect to see a television given that this is (mis)sold as a spa day, and to our dismay, there was a group of young lads noisily watching a football game. Unfortunately we had to leave the sauna as it wasn't relaxing at all.

- The 'relaxation' area is in the same area where people have manicures and pedicures and so it was noisy with people chatting as they got their nails done. 

- Unfortunately, the restaurant where we were to have our meal as part of the spa package, was a five minute walk through the hotel carpark and was completely separate from the spa. It was a cold walk with wet hair, and not what we anticipated at all.

- The two course meal included in the spa package was not a proper meal. I wanted to order the sea bass but was told by the waiter that it was not a good choice as it  literally came with a salad leaf as a garnish and that I would have to purchase potatoes and/or vegetables separately (not included). I subsequently chose a different dish (risotto), but even this was more like a starter portion. The restaurant was also packed full of families with noisy children and babies and wasn't relaxing at all.

This was quite clearly not a spa day and I complained to spaseekers.com, but they said that I would have to take this up with the Marriott hotel directly. When I did so, they dismissed my complaint, saying that there was nothing they could do. Spaseekers.com took absolutely no responsibility and just wanted to pass the buck. I will never book through them again.

Booking was easy peasy but what impressed me most was the hotel and spa itself. The staff was courteous and professional and made me feel like I was the only guest. Very personable.
Lunch was fabulous and great portions. They accommodated for my gluten free companion and nothing was too much trouble. I only wish I'd booked earlier to include extra treatments as it was so good but unfortunately they were so busy on this occasion. Will be booking again for sure.

Unfortunately, the entire experience was unacceptable from start to finish.

Upon arriving at the spa, we were informed that there was no record of our booking. Thankfully, the gentleman on reception allowed us access anyway, commenting that this was a common problem with SpaSeekers bookings. While we appreciated his willingness to help, this immediately raised concerns about the reliability of your booking system.

Once inside the spa, we discovered that the facilities we had paid to use were largely unavailable. The steam room was out of service, the jacuzzi was switched off shortly after our arrival due to pressure problems, and the swimming pool was partially unusable as lifeguards were carrying out maintenance by re-gluing tiles. This left only the sauna available, which falls well short of the spa experience we had paid for.

We then proceeded to our afternoon tea, only to be told once again that there was no record of our booking and that they were unable to accommodate us. As a result, we received neither the spa experience nor the afternoon tea that we had booked.

We were directed to the main hotel reception to arrange another afternoon tea on a future date. However, we had travelled approximately 1.5 hours specifically for this spa day, so returning on another occasion is far from convenient. Nevertheless, we attempted to rebook so that we would not lose everything we had paid for.

Unfortunately, the receptionist informed us that she was not trained on the booking system used for third-party reservations and was therefore unable to access or amend our booking. She also confirmed that there was no record of our reservation, meaning she could offer no assistance whatsoever.

To summarise:

There was no record of our booking when we arrived at the spa.
The majority of the spa facilities were unavailable due to faults and maintenance.
There was no record of our afternoon tea booking, so we were unable to receive it.
The hotel was unable to rebook our afternoon tea because they could not access your booking system.
We travelled a total of three hours for an experience that was not provided.
This experience was extremely disappointing and has caused us significant inconvenience, wasted time, and unnecessary travel costs. The service provided was simply not what was advertised or what we paid for.

Great price and super easy to book

Spaseekes were extremely helpful, efficient and friendly and dealt with my request promptly, thank you.

The spa experience was excellent. However I was a little disappointed that postponement options were not available for emergencies. This affected the mood of the experience for me as I was unable to truly relax.

was very outdated, jacuzzi was dirty mouldy and out of use, in general very dissappointing experience.

From booking to arrival and treatments, the spa, lunch, everything was fantastic.

We paid £218 for something which could have been bought for £144 direct from the spa itself - feel like we have been massively overcharged for this service
