Impossible to deal with
I am currently in the very painful process of trying to return/ get a refund for some stools I bought from Royal Design that proved to be faulty (2 of the 3 have issues with the legs becoming unstuck, one is unusable and one is unsafe). Ive been trying to resolve this for about a month. They take days to respond to any emails and keep asking for more info/ photos/ films. I feel like its designed to wear me out. And I can't just return them as it turns out the return carriage is £120!!! Really fed up. I might have to raise the issue with my bank yo try to get a refund. What a pain.

Misprice - corrected and refunded
Updated on 28th April 26 - After complaining, Royal Design have identified there was a pricing error on their website, then refunded me and allowed me to keep the spoons as a gesture of goodwill. It took a while but they sorted the issue out with a good outcome.
Initially - Website advertised Alessi Teaspoon at RRP £58.20 - which is the RRP for a 6 pack of Teaspoons. It's price was half of this - a decent saving. So I ordered this. And only 1 spoon turned up! Not a pack of 6! So they were charging £30 per spoon (plus £11 delivery)! When I advised there must be some mistake and that for the RRP it was for a 6 pack - they said to return it. But obviously they were going to charge £19 delivery.
-After complaining they advised of the fault and now have waived the £19 return charge.

Great experience

I ordered the item before reading overwhelmingly negative reviews here.
Was already panicking a little, but I received my order in timely fashion considering it started its journey outside of UK. It arrived so beautifully packed with all the fixings etc. (Mette Ditmer shelf). FedEx - also cant fault their delivery!
I understand they’re almost like a middle man - making items otherwise unavailable to order to UK direct available through them. If people have had negative experiences about arrival times and packing - it’s come straight from the supplier from what I understand. No magical London warehouse for royal design where things get badly packed or sat in delaying delivery, so it doesn’t seem they have much control over the placed orders processing at times. I even tried to order it directly from Denmark, but it wasn’t possible. So thanks to Royal Design got my dream shelves!
AVOID, USELESS AT DEALING WITH WARRANTY / MOST "SCANDINAVIAN" PRODUCTS NOW MADE IN CHINA
Order 95372206 - Logged a warranty repair for a Louis Poulson lamp back in September and I still don't have it back.
Spoke to Louis Poulson directly and they said they only received it in January. Louis Poulson then only had it a couple of weeks and sent it back to Royal design.
In between all this all I have had is deliberate attempts to delay the process with stupid emails knowing they are understaffed and don't have the ability to deal with it in a timely manner.
Also in case nobody has noticed many of these prestigious Scandinavian design companies which prided themselves on manufacturing in their own countries or at least in Europe, are now manufacturing IN CHINA - DOUBLE CHECK COUNRTY OF MANUFACTURER, as you will be surprised to know that you can get similar products for a fraction of the price and have the same quality from same origin. Sell-outs
UPDATE: The usual copy and paste reply. I think its just one person running this company.

Terrible customer service, broken item and I've been IGNORED
I purchased five items from Royal Design UK. The other four were fine, not amazing quality but hey-ho, but the fifth item broke withn less than 24 hours of intended use.
I reported this immediately, and was told to use a form. I did. It's been about two weeks and despite several emails (to which I'm told to submit the form, when I say "I HAVE" I am ignored) I have yet to hear anything. I can only assume this is intetional as it is a scam? Dissapointing...

Awful quality & overpriced
Made the mistake of not checking the Trust Pilot reviews and did not read their return policy. I ordered off their UK website.
I ordered two paper shades, they look very good in the photos but the real quality of the items is awful. They're stained and the paper glued to itself in places, doesn't open properly and the metal bits are so flimsy. Absolutely unusable and shocking. Even the £2 Ikea ones are better.
And now I find that I need to pay £19 for the return. Please read the return policy if you want to buy something from them or even better, buy cheaper and better quality somewhere else.

Do not buy from these people. Set up to look like a legitimate company. It is NOT. Drop shipping for the odd item to appear legitimate. They are scammers without conscience. You are not likely to receive what you have paid for. I haven’t.

A truly awful experience with Royal…
A truly awful, awful experience with Royal Design. We purchased a table in November. It arrived damaged in December. We reported the damage upon receipt. Royal Design were unable to offer a replacement table, so we asked for a refund. We have still not been refunded, despite repeated chasing. Their customer service and refund teams are very hard to get hold of and unbelievably slow to return our money. Earlier this week, they told me it could still be two weeks or more due to a backlog they are working through - having previously told me it would have been paid by now. I cannot recall a worse customer experience than this. Looking at others’ messages below, one wonders if they are in financial difficulty and simply do not have the cash to pay customers what they are owed?
Like others, having exhausted all efforts to secure a refund with Royal Design, I will be contacting my credit card provider next week to see what they can do and lodging a complaint with Trading Standards.

All my goods arrived broken
I ordered over £400 worth of goods. Everything arrived broken! No reply to the emails I sent. The opening hours for customer service are incorrect, they’re always closed. The AI chatbot is unhelpful! I have no idea what to do next? Awful experience.

This is a scam company
My mother ordered me some homeware from this company in November, with plenty of time before Christmas. They said they were attempting delivery time after time – she kept staying in during the hours they said (and these were huge slots, like 12 hours) and nobody ever came. Eventually, she called to complain and they agreed to return the goods and issue a refund. Multiple phone calls later, they've emailed saying it'll be around 3 weeks for her to receive her money. Reading these reviews, it's obvious this is a SCAM company and they have no intention of refunding her. Avoid at all costs.

Unsatisfactory customer support
Extensive products with unsatisfactory customer support. We purchased a chair through their online shop, and it arrived in a box with no protective covering. As a result, one leg of the chair was completely destroyed: cracked and split into two pieces. We contacted customer support within just 15 minutes of delivery to report the damage, yet we never received any response. We repeatedly tried reaching out through multiple email addresses and phone calls, but no one answered. Being completely ignored after receiving a clearly damaged product is extremely frustrating and totally unacceptable.

Payment sent, order never received.
Ordered a table on 8th December. Got confirmation it was in stock and would be shipped in 1-4 days.
Received an email from Fedex: estimated delivery on 17th December. But they actually arrived the day before when nobody was at home.
Since then, I have been receiving emails every morning saying my item will be delivered the following day, but they actually are not attempting delivery.
I contacted Royal Design who has not helped.
I asked them to recall the shipment and refund my order. They said they would do that over 10 days ago, but I am still getting daily emails from Fedex for "tomorrow". I tried to submit a complaint via the website, but get the message "an error occurred". I tried to call them on +44 20 8089 9950 but I get a message that the number does not exist.

Damaged fitting - terrible service
The light fitting I bought arrived damaged - I emailed immediately and it has so far taken THREE months to try and sort this. Never will use this company again. Such poor customer service.

Two broken deliveries and a "missing" refund – Order 105434971
I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Royal Design. I ordered pottery, but it arrived shattered on two separate occasions. While the courier is partly at fault, the damage was largely due to inadequate packaging for such fragile items.
After the second failed delivery, the "Reklamation" department finally agreed to a full refund on December 20, 2025, promising it would arrive within 10 business days. It has now been nearly a month, and despite following up, the funds have still not appeared in my account.
It is unacceptable to leave a customer out of pocket for this long after multiple service failures. I am now forced to involve my bank to recover the funds.

Had an issue with the very expensive…
Had an issue with the very expensive bedding that I ordered being delivered in an opened box the was left in the rain staining the contents.
Communicated this to customer services who haven’t responded to resolve this. Five email since the start of December AND asked for the issue to be escalated. No reply.
I would try and order whatever you are looking for from another supplier as there is NO ANSWER CUSTOMER SERVICES AT THIS COMPANY.

AVOID – Fake promises and zero refunds
I am updating my previous review to warn others. After posting, the company finally contacted me and promised a full refund within 2–5 days for the items I never received.
It has now been three weeks and the refund has not arrived. My subsequent emails have been completely ignored, and no one answers the phone. At this point, I have to consider this a scam and will be initiating a chargeback with my bank and will report the company to Trading Standards.
