I messaged customer service and I was sent a very generic response. I have been on the electoral roll for a while now but feels like Equifax has failed to update this as I’m not a Premium user. My score on other agencies are way higher but very low on Equifax. I unfortunately need that the right information is with them, as I’m trying to apply for something and Equifax is being used. This is disappointing.

Absolute scam, lost our mortgage because of their incompetence.
Been a year of back and forth with them where they rejected the fault to every of my bank accounts, electoral roll registration officer and even myself for apparently not knowing how to write my own name.
My credit score and data are and always been correct on the different accounts I had, which result in a credit score way enough for a mortgage…
Our broker only dead with NatWest and Equifax (which I find difficult to believe tbh). There next to no information on the credit report so getting a mortgage with Equifax is impossible…
As a result, we most likely will loose the property and the legal fees implied by failing to pay the seller on time.
To anyone wondering if they can sort an Equifax credit score when already looking at properties, I would say it’s unlikely to be fixed on time.
Even the support over the phone confirmed that it’s normal for them to take over a year to correct basic information and pull data from banks accounts…

I’m pretty sure that if you were to apply for a job at Equifax, your IQ would need to be lower than the temperature of your freezer to be offered a position.
I mean, how thick do you honestly have to be?l to work for Equifax? A regulated entity who employs thick staff just so you can pay them minimum wage (which - let’s face it - is pretty the entire financial services industry nowadays) just hinders the already low trust customer have with CRA.
The Consumer Duty is just a polite way of telling companies to stop hiring thick staff, due to their lack of cognitive abilities letting customers down & potentially breaching regulatory obligations around how customers should be treated.
They can’t even work out that my complaint - which they upheld - was about the employees & not the delay to updating my credit file.
Instead they did the classic “We do not own the data on your credit report” spiel that they all CRA’s do when you complain to them regarding just about anything, no acknowledgement whatsoever as to the actual content of the complaint
As a result, one employee has now been referred to the FCA and an article is going to shortly be in the public domain after said employee breached the FCA’s TCF principles and failed to meet the communication needs of consumers.
Hilariously enough, when we informed her of this & actually gave her the Oporto defend her actions, her only response was “our position has not changed and “go to the Ombudsman.”
Really?
You’re about to be publicly referred to your regulator and that’s the best response you can come up with? Not “I’ll take legal action against you”, not “we’ll consult with our legal department”, not a statement about the justification of your actions, just “Urrrrm go to Ombudsman” whilst staring gormlessly at your monitor and using one finger to type each word - which was probably what this employee was doing.
How stupid can one employee be? Not once did we actually ask her if her position had changed - yet she felt the need to tell us this. She couldn’t even work out that we’re beyond going to the Ombudsman.
It’s good she (the employee) recognised she failed to act appropriately so it’s good her position has not changed but the fact that Equifax cannot even engage in any form of intelligent conversation is a concern.
You watch - the response is going to be either:
“We take all feedback seriously”, or
“Thank you for your feedback”, or
“ Thank you for detailing your feedback, It sounds like you've had a really poor experience with us so far, and I'm sorry for that, but we appreciate you taking the time to tell us about it as it gives us the opportunity to put things right for you”
Or it’ll be
“Thank you for taking the time to leave us a rating and comment…”
Or the Equifax classic
“We’re not paid enough to care, so we just cut and paste the first thing we see on the internet in the hope that the reviewer will just go away…”
Now this, hands down, is an even better response:
“You've not left enough information in this post for us to identify you…” - yes, because we’re going to leave identifiable information about ourselves on a public post. Whoever wrote this response clearly couldn’t even get a job in McDonalds…

Your phone line quality is so bad I can't understand what your employees are saying and you marked an issue as resolved despite the fact it hasn't been.
The details you have for my card are incorrect and as such my regular mortgage payments have not been taken into account for my credit score.
Contacting you to resolve this issue has been troubling and time consuming.

Incorrect data on my credit file. Opened numerous complaints and each time they got closed without even bothering to respond. Breaching UK GDPR Article 12 & Article 1 persistent failure to rectify data. No problem though as the whole thing will be reported to information commissioners office! Never come across such an incompetent company in my life.

Antwort von Equifax
Incorrect data about me. I have contacted Equifax and raised an official enquiry which was closed by them as 'Resolved' a month or so later without any communication with me. I then checked my record and it still remains incorrect. Useless service and out of date data can potentially cause me issues when obtaining credit, opening a bank account, applying for insurance etc

Extremely outdated and ineffective credit reporting
In my personal experience, Equifax appears to be extremely slow and outdated when it comes to updating credit information, and this is negatively affecting my credit score.
I currently have three credit cards. I have been using one for around a year, another for approximately six months, and the third for about six weeks. I have also contacted the credit card providers directly and asked them to provide my information to Equifax. They confirmed that they had submitted the relevant information, yet Equifax still shows virtually no information about me.
My credit profile and score are very good with the other major credit reference agencies. However, because Equifax has little or no information about my accounts, my Equifax profile appears as “Poor”, which I believe does not accurately reflect my actual credit history.
I have contacted Equifax numerous times and provided all the statements and documentation they requested. Despite this, there has been no meaningful progress and my information still has not been properly updated.
What is particularly frustrating is that cases I have raised have been closed without the underlying issue being resolved. Meanwhile, the other credit reference agencies update my information normally and much more efficiently.
Overall, my experience has been extremely disappointing. I genuinely question why Equifax is unable or unwilling to obtain and update the information that is clearly available from my lenders. The service has left me with the impression that the information provided by Equifax is simply not reliable or up to date.

Antwort von Equifax
It took ages to verify my profile even after submitting multiple documents. The report is also not accurate.

Raised an issue with an upcoming update to my credit report. There were 2 things wrong - 1) an incorrect company / provider name was used, and 2) there was a suggestion that a new account had been opened when it had not (and therefore nothing should be showing suggesting that it had). First response to the issue addressed point 1 (correcting the provider name) but not point 2, and the case was immediately closed before I had chance to highlight that they had missed the point. Raised it again, specifically referencing the first case reference and the element that had not been addressed, and again got a response addressing only element 1 and not element 2, with the second case again being closed literally a minute after they posted their response, so clearly before I had chance to come back on it!! So I've now got something on my Equifax credit file suggesting a new account was opened this week when in actual fact that account was probably opened about 3 years ago and has been settled and closed for the past year!! Doesn't Equifax have to comply with GDPR and ensure that incorrect records are corrected??!

It was very hard completing the security checks as it kept saying my id was blurry. When I finally got in, it didn’t have any of my car finance agreements which was why I was using it in the first place.
