TopGrass was launched in 2005 with the aim of offering top-quality lawn care using the knowledge, materials, and equipment of the professional groundsman and applying it to domestic lawns. TopGrass is an independent lawn treatment company set up by Tom Arnold and Ian Decourcy whose backgrounds combine experience in treating professional lawns and sports turf with business expertise from working in quality-driven blue-chip companies. After many years, we are now a well-established, family-run company. Tom's wife Shirley, daughter Katie and two sons Chris and Peter, all now have varying input into the business and bring with them their core family values to the everyday running of the company.

I engaged Top Grass during 2021 after…
I engaged Top Grass during 2021 after my lawns became infested with broad leaf weeds. After discussion I opted for the standard Package to see how things went. Result was total success with, now, a superb- looking lawn.
All communication with TG was very easy and they proved very flexible in arranging visits plus all operatives were very efficient and I got instant feedback on the day regarding the state of things.
I would recommend TG to anyone.

Great Service and Great Lawn
I signed up with Top Grass this may on the recommendation of my neighbour. My "green" lawn was more weeds and moss than grass and full of daisies! Top Lawn recommended a full scarifying and reseed treatment to take the "lawn" back to basics.
Within 10 weeks we were seeing a new lawn and now our lawn is in the best condition it has been since we moved in 20 years ago during which time we have had the lawn relayed twice.
Highly recommend this company and also the lawn service is useful for anyone who values their outdoor space.

Waste of Money
No difference seen in lawn throughout the year with top grass, no feedback or reports ever given on our grass throughout the year. Only ever chased for payments, £28 spent each visit for less than 5 minutes work, then suddenly told the garden needs a full service for £290 when there is nothing wrong with the grass! Rip off and customer service is poor.

A much improved lawn
We have used TopGrass for 4 years now after doing nothing with it except cutting it for many years. and are very happy with their service (although we have no experience of any other lawn care company and cannot comment on cost effectiveness). Technician Lee has been really helpful in guiding us to care for our lawn. After each visit we receive a report indicating what the current issues are, and what could be done about them (at extra cost) but giving a perfectly honest account of the situation: if a treatment is not going to cure a problem they tell you that, so we don't feel hoodwinked. We are seeking a perfect lawn and they accept that - we don't feel pressured into paying for lots of extras. It's useful having the same technician multiple times, although of course we appreciate that's not always possible.

Long standing customer.
I have used TopGrass for 9 years, which says it all really. My lawns have been cured of being full of moss and weeds. I have always received good service with the technicians turning up when expected and happy to chat to me about the state of the grass. When I have phoned I have been greeted with a friendly voice and my requests have been dealt with cheerfully. Two years ago I was concerned about the lawns during a very hot summer and 2 technicians visited very promptly, by appointment, explained what the problem was, and suggested how it could be solved. I think what I have appreciated most is that over the years I have been listened to.

This is the second year with TopGrass and the lawn is looking very good , we paid extra for two border feeds which have been very successful and have really made a difference to the beds

10 months in, no improvement
Used TopGrass for 10 months and saw little to no improvement in the quality of our lawn. They are very difficult to contact, efforts usually end in talking to someone who can't help so you have to wait to be contacted by someone who can. It just wasn't worth the money in the end.

You should normally see a good visual difference in your lawn a few weeks after the first treatment. Our treatments can occasionally be impacted by the weather which is why we would always come back if the treatment has not been effective because of this. Our office manager will be in touch to see if the issue can be resolved for you. I would also like to apologise that you struggled to get through to us, we have a very small office so this should not have been the case and this will be investigated internally as to what happened. On completion of the last visit TopGrass reported that we had broadleaf weeds. No reference to the major problem of ants which have caused scalping all over my lawn and must have been developing over the last year. . Seems to me TopGrass work by rote doing a standard granular fertiliser and a selective weedkiller and offering extras like scarifying at over a £1000. Therefore I have had to seek help elsewhere which I am sure will be more expensive than if treated earlier.

What I expected good company
Came out had a chat, they came back treated all weeds have gone and the lawn has now started to grow.
The guys could have got the prices correct but we all make mistakes.

Gave me a one hour slot to visit. Failed to turn up.

Delighted with TopGrass in these initial stages
I have recently tasked TopGrass with taking on my lawn which is 40% moss and 30% weeds. I am delighted with the service in these early days, a very professional team with excellent communication. Their free starter health check identified areas that they would need to address, I have already ordered these, but also areas I needed to address including a recommended mowing height and alternating the angle of mowing. I'm looking forward to getting a proper lawn back in due course.
