Amazing experience! It came really well packaged and I was informed about the shipment status throughout the whole process until delivery. A few days before the arrival, I also received the instructions on how it would look like upon arrival and how to take care of it. I can't wait to see it with new leaves! I can already see the lateral buds coming! My first real Bonsai and I'm so happy!
Update: it already has tiny red leaves all over! 🥰🍁

Placed an order on 04/07. They “shipped it” on 06/07. Royal mail never received it as of 3 weeks later. Support is unresponsive. I sincerely believe this is a scam.

I bought a Japanese Maple bonsai and it took awhile to arrive but it eventually did. It didn't look too well when it came but its been a couple of months now and it's sprouting new maple leaves. I am so happy with this product now.

Ordered a Bonsai Maple. First one never arrived - they blamed the shipper (from China by the way and NOT Japan) Second took a very long time and arrived apparently dead. I sent a picture. They said it was "normal" and with proper care it would grow. It never did and they have NOT taken ownership of the dead tree sent me and refuse either a refund or sending a new, alive tree. I consider them a definite SCAM! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!

Unfortunately, there was an issue at customs where my order has been stuck for three weeks. I reached out to customer service who were quick and polite and offered a refund as well as an apology. The shipping concern wasn't their fault and they were quick to process a refund. As this wasn't their fault and they were quick to respond as well as offer a solution, I am giving the customer service team four stars.

I ordered a bonsai from Spirit of Japan, expecting a healthy, well-cared-for plant. Instead, I received a completely dead tree—lifeless, dry, and clearly DOA.

I took perfect care of it (no overwatering, no underwatering), but the plant was already dead when it arrived. When I reached out for a refund or replacement, they either ignored me or gave excuses. Buyer beware—this is a scam!

They refuse to take responsibility, leaving me no choice but to dispute the charge with my bank. If you value your money and sanity, avoid Spirit of Japan at all costs. Terrible quality and zero customer service…

I bought the wisteria moss ball tree and am delighted with the progress it’s making … I have been back in touch for advice and they are very helpful. I would definitely recommend and would buy again

I received a gingko kokedama from the site. It was well packaged and supported. When I messaged the site for some after care tips they were swift and clear with their response and very helpful. It looked poor on arrival but this is normal for shipping a tree (in my case from japan to USA) but it is still alive and doing better as it recovers. I intend to order more (maybe the wisteria next!) from the site as it has been a much better experience than previous bonsai sites I have tried.

I ordered a Wisteria Bonsai tree for my partner’s birthday it took about 3 weeks to arrive, it came very well packaged and with clear instructions which we carefully followed, it has now started to grow very rapidly, I emailed Yuki at Spirit of Japan for some more guide lines on after care ,who emailed straight back to me offering help and guidance, I can’t recommend this company and their products enough I will definitely be placing another order no doubts about it 😊

Beautiful tree and nice e after care service on e mail. Our tree looked a bit underwhelming when it arrived but I followed the instructions diligently and the Japanese maple is thriving. The growth in the first 10 days has been remarkable

I ordered the Gingko Tree Kokedama for $85. The ad featured a beautiful tree with a double trunk and many yellow leaves, in a tasteful pot. However, I received a sickly, single trunk with only two damaged leaves and a mashed moss ball. No pot as included. I reached out to SOJ and Yuki replied with several excuses, but no offer of compensation or replacement. Spirit of Japan is not a reputable company!

They sent me a dead bonsai from China 🇨🇳, and to get a new one, I need to pay the USA 35. They are a bunch of robbers and charlatans.

I never received my order and the tracking number was not for any delivery service in the US.
Don't buy anything from this company

I do not recommend. Buyer beware. I purchased a grown bonsai that arrived months after purchase. When the bonsai arrived it was obvious that it was not alive. Despite this, I followed the care guide that I had been provided. I reached out to the company for support. After many attempts I was able to get ahold of someone. This proved useless as they would not take ownership of sending me a dead plant and instead told me I could pay to ship a new one (cost would be the same as a new plant). This company is a scam. I am pretty sure they just stuck a dead tree branch into a moss ball and called it a bonsai.

I received 2 bonsai dead.
When I claimed, they said it was my fault because I did not take care gentle of them.
They delivered in winter season and trees frozen.
I lost 200 USD almost.
Do not buy from them.
Whatever is happening wrong on your trees, you are to blame.

Received my Wisteria moss ball today …. It’s perfect ….. the moss ball was still damp it was packaged really well, soaked it for 15 minutes and put it in its pot in indirect sunlight as the directions suggested, I asked for tracking updates a couple of times my emails were replied to in good time and were very respectful …… I will be buying more …. Definitely recommend this seller I’m in Western Australia and I’m impressed with this company.

My wife purchased a cherry blossom tree for my birthday took just over 3 weeks to arrive in Queensland Australia, packaged 📦 great, no damage done moss still very damp and green, 7 pink buds, just beautiful many thanks Billy.

Spirit of Japan is a great company. My bonsai wisteria arrived exactly as advertised. I followed their enclosed directions for the initial care after arriving. In a few days it already had new leaves, and even more new leaves continue to grow! I did email Spirit of Japan a question about the wisteria, and the next day I heard back from Yuki, who is really nice and very helpful! In the future I will be getting another bonsai from Spirit of Japan. I definitely recommend them!

What an absolute con bought what was was supposed to be a fully grown bonsai and was sent a twig
