Great support and a very easy to use SMS API

We use Plivo's SMS API for notifications to our customers, so it's important that these messages get to our users in time. We were using another vendor earlier who is much larger (T#*!!*o), but moved over with all our traffic as they clearly have much better support and a simpler API. It was easy to migrate and whenever we have had any delays with delivery the team has been pretty responsive.

I would certainly recommend them to others.

Be wary of their bait and switch…

Be wary of their bait and switch tactics. When you create your account you will see many available phone numbers to purchase. Upon making a payment, thousands of them disappear.

I opened 2 accounts, on my paid account I see no availability, on my unpaid account I see many available numbers for the exact same query.

Suspended my account randomly and crashed all my apps

I use plivo for a small project. It was okay so far, but then, they suddenly suspended my account out of nowhere.

My app was using it for 1+ years and there was no change on my app. But they decided they don't like it, and suspended my account.

The worst part was that it happened out of nowhere and it caused my app to crash for several days. I wasted several days contacting dumb customer service, only to be told that they don't want me.

POS service and arbitrary decisions.

I started as a Plivo customer in 2016. I have had an active though dormant account for the last two years and apparently something has changed since then, as when I kicked up another PBX system and tried to fund my account, I got an email saying my account was reviewed and I was declined any continuing services. No reason why, though the message made sure to tell me that it could not be appealed. What a waste of time and POS process. After seeing all of the similar reviews, it is apparent some dumb a** in management has made another poor decision... those business degrees are not worth the paper they are written on. Hey Plivo investors, fire your management, they are wasting your money.

Terrible platform

Terrible platform, terrible account management, terrible customer service. Don't recommend. Nexmo is better priced and has a better overall platform with no commits required.

"Our systems have flagged your account..." and it seems as though my account has been deleted, just as I'm ready to go live at work. Well, I think I'll go with a VOIP provider that doesn't give me the mushroom treatment. Thanks for making the decision easier, Plivo. Awful.

HORRIBLE customer service

HORRIBLE customer service. Created an app, had to test it by sending text messages to my personal phone. After I got the app working, I applied for an upgrade so I could take the app live, and I got this vague rejection email in from Plivo...

"Our systems have flagged your account, due to which we are unable to
provide you access to our services."

That's it. No details about why the account was flagged. No opportunity to follow up with them and resolve what was obviously a misdiagnosis on their part. I had only sent SMS to test, and only to my personal phone number. When I tried to login to send a request for more information, I found they had locked me out of my account. Horrible customer service on their part.

Same issue

Same issue. We are about to go live with our website but got a message from Plivo: Our systems have flagged your account, due to which we are unable to
provide you access to our services.
I wasted a day to use Plivo API just to learn that I can't use this in our live environments.
Plivo, please put this onto your website that you are selective in offering this service and don't provide much explanation about flagging the accounts.

In the meantime they sent some irrelevant questionaire. Since I didn't answered questionaire, yes you read correctly, they are forcing customers to answer some stupid questions like I have nothing else to do; they blocked my account totally.

Broken sales process... no upgrade paths for anyone

We were looking to move few SMS automations from Twilio to Plivo and everything was perfect until we decided to upgrade. It looks like they have no more capacity for new customers because my account was flagged... For what? No one knows, they may not even know. Reached out sales team and.... Crickets... they just don’t care or something is really wrong with their whole platform that they are selective with who they let in. Is all I can think about.

Unacceptable business practices

Plivo works. It's not the best service on the market, comparing to the competition. But might be acceptable for you.

But there is a more important issue: this company is completely untrustworthy. After months of contract I've suddenly received a notice of termination with 48 hours notice. There was no reason given. "Your account has been flagged" is not a reason.

The funny thing is that I have not been even using the account for last few months, yet I have violated some unspecified terms of service. I still don't know what they were.

Such behavior makes this company completely untrustworthy. Nobody can move entire communication system elsewhere in 48 hours.

Are you willing to do business with someone who just cancels your contract for no reason whenever he feels like without a warning, with no word of explanation?

Do yourself a favor and avoid any company that shows that level of arrogance and irresponsibility. No matter the size. It's just not worth to risk being a hostage of people like that.

VERY BAD EXPERIENCE...

VERY BAD EXPERIENCE...

WE have been developing our application and paying our numbers for years without using them. We needed inbound and outbound services. When the time came to launch our product, we were experiencing issues with inbound services, alphanumeric iD and outbound messages, nothing was working. They support team was useless and kept telling us that they don't guarantee inbound messages and they will check with their carriers. Very very bad experience...

Plivo shows to be an excellent service provider ever. Their support is to the point and they always respond to requests in time. The executive takes time to to organise webnars that are so helpful.

Insights of new features are given and explanation and this makes it easy and reliable for our business.

Our platform of choice for cloud-based communications

Plivo has been a great choice for our small business' office communications, as it has very flexible and easy implementation with a minimum programming knowledge. We particularly like the platform reliability, ease of provisioning local numbers, and the transparent and fair pricing structure. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is that we had a few recurring problems with the local numbers that still need to be ironed out, but they're not major problems anyway, so the score should be 4½ if that was possible.
