I am using Plivo for the last 3 months. Currently, we are facing a lot of call connectivity issues, especially Indian calls. We reported multiple times, But they are taking so much time to resolve this. Is anyone facing the same issue?
Plivo's Disastrous Service Interruption: A Complete Failure in Communication
Plivo, a company that claims to provide automated SMS and call services, has proven to be nothing short of a massive disappointment. Their abysmal handling of the new tin DLC regulation has resulted in a catastrophic disruption to our SMS campaigns, leaving us without vital communication tools for an astonishing period of 3 to 4 days.
What is most infuriating about this situation is the utter lack of transparency and communication from Plivo. Instead of proactively notifying their customers about the impending regulation and providing ample time for compliance, they simply decided to cut off their clients without any prior warning. Not a single email, not a notification within our accounts—nothing. We were left blindsided, scrambling to understand why our SMS campaigns had come to an abrupt halt.
Plivo's failure to inform its customers about regulatory changes demonstrates a complete disregard for the businesses that rely on their services. It is inconceivable that a company specializing in communication technologies could be so negligent in its own communication practices. As a result of their incompetence, we were forced to bear the brunt of the consequences, enduring a substantial loss in productivity and revenue.
The very essence of an automated SMS and call service provider like Plivo is to ensure uninterrupted communication between businesses and their customers. Yet, when faced with a regulatory requirement, they proved woefully unprepared. It is not the first time that Plivo has shown a lack of foresight or customer-centric approach, but this recent incident has solidified our decision to seek alternatives for our communication needs.
A reliable service provider should prioritize transparency, prompt notifications, and seamless transitions when changes occur. Plivo has failed on all accounts. Their disregard for their customers' businesses and the resulting disruption caused by their inaction cannot be ignored. Trust has been shattered, and it will take an extraordinary effort to regain any confidence in this company's ability to deliver on its promises.
In conclusion, Plivo's handling of the new tin DLC regulation has been an absolute debacle. Their failure to notify customers in advance and provide adequate time to comply is inexcusable. If you value reliable and trustworthy communication services, it is strongly advised to steer clear of Plivo and explore alternative options that prioritize customer satisfaction and operational integrity.

I tried to sign up with Plivo for internal transactional sms messages. Litterally only want a service to provide real time updates via text message. My account was immediately put on hold.

Current Twilio customer. Tried to sign up with Plivo to test their service, and possibly migrate to it but immediately denied. We run a 12-year-old company that has never (EVER) spammed a client with even a newsletter and we sometimes use SMS to communicate with customers that specifically request this method of communication during support requests/tickets only.
"Based on the information you provided regarding your business and use case, we are unable to provide you with service at this time.
Our internal team has made the thorough reassessment , and this decision is final."

This company “fired” us after many years of partnership, simply because they didn’t like that we were getting too many incoming calls on our phone number that we registered with them. This sudden stop of service caused thousands of dollars in damages (since we used other services from them).
So many red flags here...
So many red flags here, glad I had this experience immediately. My account registration (just name, e-mail and password) was not accepted, literally based off of my business e-mail address due to factitious "anomalies" detected by their software... I was then offered an opportunity to dispute their findings(?) by supplying copies of personal identification, scans of the articles of incorporation for my LLC (NO!) or evidence of my legitimate business venture aside from the e-mail address that their AI software apparently lacked the intelligence to track back to my website and ultimately my LInkedIn and other social media business pages.
I can't imagine anyone would ever willingly supplying this information to a random website, but in the event that they do, I found it quite worrisome that they conclude their rejection with a statement that even after signup any customer could ultimately be found to be infected with anomalies and have their paid account with all of their business information shut down. The cherry on top of this experience is their business address, right down the street from house in the Capital of Texas, they list it right at the bottom of the page. Ironically, a quick search reveals that they don't exist, not only in that location but at all and their business was located in India, but shut down... Be careful who you give your money to, just because they have a website on the internet does not mean they put the customers best interest first.

This is a Scam on their Pricing Part. Very Hideous and full of surprises.
Well on their Pricing Page I have seen a Certain pricing for Domestic. And inside my account they are charging me based on International rates. Now when I reached support regarding that, no reply from 2 days.
We already spent a lot of money integrating with Plivo Services. Kind of stuck for now. But They Suck.
Also I would like to add: I have been told for 2 days to setup DLT and Registration PE Identity etc. But they are not listening that I am already a registered DLT and using SMS services in India for a long time, and their console is not letting me add my Sender ID and PE Identity.
I have been using MSG91 for sometime, quite reliable. Remember before buying cheap is not always the best. Don’t make the same mistake I did.

Very happy with Plivo
Plivo has been my go to API for sending SMS notifications to my customers. They have great documentation and the Flow builder is good too. I wish they added 3rd party apps within that and ability to schedule sending SMS.

- their status page is an absolute lie! they never ever report issues we face (and quite often it's a major issue e.g. not receiving calls from the biggest UK provider)
- they over charge and refuse to issue refunds for services they don't provider because their system is not working properly. Just recently we analysed our sms traffic and there was over 2.5% messages with an unknown status (which apparently means it just got lost somewhere) yet it's absolutely acceptable for them to still charge for those.
- they don't take any responsibility EVER! any issue you face you have to provide loads of examples (even though they have all the details already and could just check their logs). Then they just blame companies they work with - mostly carriers.
- they don't have any monitoring in place. Every time there is an issue it's usually you reporting it first, then it takes couple hours for them to even read about it at which point it's usually ok again and they just close the ticket saying it was just a temporary issue. but what if there is an issue like this every week / month? Nothing! it's fine from their perspective and they will never do anything about it.
What a joke!
No joke... opened an account. I have a pre-existing call center solution that uses Twilio. Wanted to have it use other providers too. Literally opened the account, did nothing but hit upgrade account. Supplied the credit card, etc... Then they denied the account with no explanation... Not sure if this is a mistake, or whatever... I mean the product is already an existing product.

Right after this review, Plivo had their top engineer reach out, zoom meeting, & they've since solved all the issues, much of which were due to a third party provider!
I've actually been using Plivo uninterrupted since the original review 1 year plus.. (Only minor hiccups from support staff) But above satisfactory rating is overdue. I told them I'd update this review, So I'm changing it from one star to four stars!
And since Twilio, I heard forced out a lot of users.. Plivo is your only (but best), less expensive option to be fair and to accurate to Plivo.
I am no programmer and no tech-ee like many of you all, you are quite fortunate. PLIVO IS STRONGLY NOT RECOMMENDED! Plivo (or choice of Twilio) is required by a 3rd party platform, for the SMS and phone number purchasing features. I am so sorry I did not go with Twilio as a friend advised. I need to have the most basic integrations up and running, I was confused when it came to "Triggering the PHLO from your SMS app" and/or "install the server SDKs". After in-depth 8+ hours looking but not finding any useful: 'how-to-s', you-tubes, nor Plivo website additional explanation, nothing of value, as a last resort I email support, with a log of the issue, not wanting to use there time if I could solve it myself.
I was SHOCKED at the DISMISSIVE RELY:
"Kindly ensure that you are using the latest SDKs of composer and PHP-SDK provided by Plivo here... it is not on our end..."
FIRSTLY, downloads clearly state, each is the latest version available, so telling me to go check the versions THAT YOU ALL ARE PROVIDING IS GARBAGE ADVICE AND CLEARLY "THE RUN AROUND"!
WOW, LET ME UNDERSTAND THIS: I signed up for Plivo, Pay $, and Plivo provides a list of instructions to use SMS-platform. I followed step by step on the Plivo website, download the programs Plivo says, follow each step, get suck at step 4, and Plivo claims my issue, not theirs, who cares, has nothing to do with them, cavalierly. Twilight Zone!
I would bet if this support person, who wanted to 'hit solved' apparently as swift as possible, early Monday morning, would have taken 5 mins to think, what issue stoping me & this SDK, could have supplied a quick fix. That I am convinced of it, and there should be more "how-to/ you-tube visuals" available anyway about this and related. Instead, now I have lost Sunday and Monday productivity, with no further reply to my follow-ups from Plivo Support!?! Unreal! I avoid UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANIES like PLIVO! What is PLIVO's "support staff" (loosely) for?? What does Plivo expect me to do now, higher a tech to install their software??? No sir! I will yell it from up-high (haha) & I will demand a refund, and go to Twilio, WHICH IS MY ADVICE TO ANYONE ELSE READING THIS. PLIVO IS PROBLEMATIC w/ TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! -AJ
ZenTrunk is great!
We have used multiple SIP trunk carriers for our PBX in the past but none of them get close to the simplicity of ZenTrunk. It just feels like a software first product. We will soon try and use ZenTrunk for our other systems once we are back in office.
Good platform, can be better
Plivo has been improving since we signed up a long time ago. The new console was a bit confusing at the start, but we have now gotten used to it. We are happy with the platform but the sales team is pretty pushy.
There are places where Plivo can improve like documentation, additional features on the console and a leave us alone sales team.
I would have given a 4 stars for this review, but giving 5 to balance all the nasty reviews which seem very non-genuine.
Very Reliable API Platform
I first used Plivo in my previous role where we built a notification engine for our internal alerts like Pagerduty. Now we also use them in my current company and my experience at both the places has been good. Earlier, we had downtimes with them but this has changed considerably over the last 2 years.
I would recommend them as very reliable platform that has not disappointed our team and our company.
Happy customer for the last 12 months
We started using Plivo just before COVID, and this year we have relied more on them to message our customers. They have an excellent API and well documented examples.
I wish someday they add more reporting around deliver rates and times for our teams to view and action.
Very Reliable Twilio Alternative
We are a fast growing startup with customers around the globe and we needed a reliable way to reach our customers. We initially started with Twilio, but then later added Plivo as a backup. Now we only use Plivo for all our communication. I am now trying to have my team move to PHLO which will reduce our dev times even more.
FYI: Our account also got blocked initially as some of the other reviews mention here, but their support team was great and they helped us set back up seamlessly.
