Laurence has provided excellent tuition to both my sons for their language and literature GCSEs. Suffice to say that both did very well and we all agree that Laurence's lessons went a long way in securing their grades! I highly recommend Laurence to anyone seeking improvement in their English study.

Fabulously effective teaching methods used to rapidly improve students progress in what can prove a tricky subject to gain the higher grades. My son gained a huge amount of confidence in dealing with the exam questions after only a few weekly sessions, and I was amazed at how quickly he started to understand exactly how to answer the questions using the correct language techniques, etc. Don't bother to look elsewhere, but the student must be fully commited to regular sessions in Year 10 and or Year 11.

Laurence is the best English teacher. Don’t look elsewhere! His style of working with the student is unique and is perfect for not only ensuring your child gains confidence in the subject, but will transform their grades to a much higher level than you will expect. My daughter was predicted two 6s and achieved two outstanding 9s! At the beginning of her GCSEs, English was her worst subject and gave her the most concern. At the time of taking the GCSEs, English proved to be one of the subjects she had the most confidence in. Need l say more!

I would like to thank Lawrence for everything he has done. Our son got a 2 and 3 for his mocks at the beginning of the year and was not going to be able to go into 6th form like he wanted so I went out looking for a tutor. In the 5 months Lawrence has worked with him, we have received his results and has now managed two 6's in his English which has meant meant he is not just going to 6th form but has upgraded the A levels he is now sitting. When Laurence started tutoring my son in January he was predicted 3/4s in both English Language and Literature and his teacher said his level was a 4 at the most. Laurence is an excellent English tutor. My son is more naturally mathematical, finding English lessons in school difficult to follow. He studied during Y10 and Y11 with Laurence, finding the lessons logical, the approach to questions structured (suiting his mathematical brain) and easy to remember. To all our surprise he really enjoyed and looked forward to the lessons (I had expected a reluctant learner!) and he now misses his 2 hours with Laurence. Before Laurence, his grades were 4/5. I would 100% recommend Laurence as he helped my daughter very much. Initially, in her mocks, she was predicted 6s in both English Language and Literature, but managed to get high 8s in both due to his carefully planned out lessons and great teaching style. Laurence made a huge difference. I can't recommend him enough. My son achieved a grade 5 in language and literature from a grade 3 in his mocks. My son is very strong in maths and sciences and English is the subject he is least interested and finds it difficult. With8 months to go for GCSE, it turned into a panic. I was specially looking for a tutor who teaches English to pupils who are strong in maths and science but weak in English.

Laurence was a perfect and a brilliant tutor! He worked on my son’s weaknesses and strength and gave him lots of encouragement to boost his confidence. At the time of exam he was very confident and after every English exam he came home with a big smile telling me he applied ‘Laurence’s formula’.

From low grade 7 in both literature and language in mocks to grade 8 in both language and literature and missing grade 9 for 1 mark and 4 marks in English literature and language respectively is a huge achievement. It became possible only because of Laurence’s help and guidance.

My daughter was predicted to achieve a grade 4 in her English mocks. We wanted to do something to help her and luckily we found Laurence.
My daughter was capable in mathematics but the freedom and creativity one needs in English seemed difficult for her. Laurence teaches technique and structure that can benefit children like this, and the end result was truly revelatory. Her teachers at school noticed the improvement and began to use her work as an example and had her help her peers.
She achieved a 7 in English Language and an 8 in Literature. Moreover, the confidence and skills she learned with Laurence had a knock on effect to other subjects and she generally achieved excellent results in all subjects which was a delight to her, and of course, us.
If you need a tutor for your child I very much doubt you will find better. Every penny we invested into her tuition was money well spent, and in fact, I consider it tremendous value for money. What price your child’s future?
My child enjoyed her time with Mr. Dalton and looked forward to her lesson each week.
Incidentally, she was diagnosed as being dyslexic towards the end of her time at school, so know that good teaching and support can diminish the impact of this.

Laurence is an excellent English tutor who helped my son leading up to his GCSE exams this year. Initially we did worry that 2 hours a week consecutively might he too taxing for our son on top of all the other tuition he was receiving in other subjects such as Maths. History and Science too, but our son wanted to do well in his English exams so reluctantly he agreed to do the 2 hours weekly on top of all his other subject interventions . We did not start tuition with Laurence until end of February which meant our son only had about 3 months tutoring in total before his exams started.

Initially we were a bit hesitant in getting English tuition lessons as we thought our son was doing quite well at school but with a constant high turnover of staff at his school and with teachers having actually walked out of classes due to interruptive pupils and with the school not having even started on Macbeth yet in January this year and him just getting a 4 and 5 on his last mocks we grew increasingly concerned that it will all affect his final GCSE results so we took the plunge after having found Laurence online. Our son achieved a 6 in both language and literature which was better than his mocks and predicted scores and allowed him to pursue the A level subjects he wants to pursue in sixth form. We feel so relieved that he was able to get a strong pass and can confidently say that it is down to Laurence’s input. He is extremely helpful and provides excellent tips and pointers in between his lessons. You can tell he is extremely passionate about his job and cares about his student’s results.

My son has said that as his weak area in English was poetry in general he felt that with Laurence's insightful input it definitely helped to lift his grade up, and without the tuition he doesn't think he would have been able to get the high B grade at all! Laurence is an excellent tutor and we strongly recommend him for GCSE English Language and Literature, given the help and support that he has provided to our daughter to prepare for her exams.
Our daughter’s mother tongue is not English and at the beginning of year 11 her results were 5 and 6, well below her target grade.

Laurence started working with my son when we realised there were gaps in the knowledge he had gained from school and his predicted grades had dropped. Laurence quickly built my son’s confidence and gave him the tools to get back on track. The change in the grades was almost instant and he soon got back to the levels he was achieving previously, with some papers marked even higher. He sat his language and literature papers recently and thanks to Laurence’s tuition felt both exams went well. I can’t recommend Laurence enough for those looking for extra English tuition.

I really couldn’t have wished for a better tutor for my son’s GCSE English revision and I am so grateful that Laurence was able to find time for us in his busy schedule.
Laurence’s lessons are extremely well planned, resourced and delivered; he has created an excellent method of teaching which helped my son to engage and focus on his revision.

We are very happy to have found Laurence via our Google search when looking for an English tutor for our son’s GCSE exams, as he has been nothing but absolutely fantastic! We wished that we had found him sooner. Although our son’s strongest subject is in English we could see that his school was not helping him to maximise and reach his full potential as there are many interruptive students in his school/class and teachers have actually walked out of lessons and subsequently left so the staff turnover is extremely high. With Macbeth being featured in the English literature exam his school hadn’t even started teaching them the text until around February this year so understandably we were really worried that he was not getting the right resources and sufficient support to sit the actual exams. But ever since Leo started tuition with Laurence 3 months ago our worries began to subside and we could see that Laurence really knew his stuff and Leo found his lessons productive and impactful. Laurence also gave lots of great feedback and helpful tips on how to improve on Leo’s work as well giving him praise to improve his confidence. I must say despite the school offering free after school English interventions in the run up to the exams, Leo said that Laurence’s lessons are much better, more productive and more effective than the school’s, so we would highly recommend him for anyone who is looking for a marvellous English tutor who is knowledgeable in his field and actually cares and wants to help his students do well and maximise their full potential.
