Awful service
We have had an awful experience, ordered two sizes of hockey shoes for our child to try, they did not accept our return for the size that did not fit and sent it back saying there was a stain on one of the shoes. We made our return in the original condition it was sent to us, unworn. When questioned, the customer service person was rude, abrupt and accused the shoe being marked by using the other (clean) shoe to take it off, furthermore she said the ecommerce manager would contact us when she can as she is busy! Interestingly, I can see another customer has had a similar experience. Avoid this company, it does seem suspicious returns aren’t given as the item is ‘dirty’ which makes me wonder if they are actually doing this themselves to avoid giving a refund? Stay clear if expecting a refund without hassle.

We have a very diligent Returns Department and upon receipt all returns are thoroughly inspected to ensure the item is in saleable condition before a return is accepted into our system. Unfortunately, on this occasion, we have found cause to reject your item.
May I respectfully point out that not receiving the answer you were hoping for does not mean we have poor customer service. We were polite and courteous throughout the dealing of your enquiry.
We do apologies for any inconvenience caused but we are not unique in having a policy with these Terms and Conditions; the majority of online retailers do need to be able to resell returned items.

Awful service, extremely unhelpful. System autocorrected my address. Item posted to wrong country but no attempt to help resolve it. Rude response on email.
Subsequent response states I put my address in wrong to avoid a postage charge- considering I can’t retrieve my item Id hardly put in the wrong address to avoid postage- knowing my parcel will end up in wrong location. Ridiculous response from Direct Hockey. Steer well clear of them.

Looking at your order, it seems as though you have entered UK Mainland as your delivery address instead of the Republic of Ireland so as to avoid the relevant delivery charges associated with your order. This is why your delivery address is incorrect. This address will show on your order confirmation email, following which you did not contact us to amend for you.
We subsequently dispatched your order to the address you entered, and it has since been delivered. I’m afraid we have no further obligations beyond this point since you entered the incorrect address information.

Wrong size shoes
Wrong size shoes. Ordered a pair of size 8 hockey shoes. Order was acknowledged quickly as size 8. Delivery was prompt and efficient but size 9. I am now navigating the convoluted process to generate a return label. It would be much better if it could be included with the delivery in case of need.

We rely heavily on item barcodes when processing items in and out of our warehouse in order to minimise picking errors. It is very rare that the incorrect item/size would be dispatched. I can see you have ordered the Asics Gel Peake 2 Mens Hockey Shoes (Black-Glow Yellow) Size UK 8 and wonder if the size 9 you are looking at on the box is the US size? Asics display the US size on the box in bigger, bolder text and the UK size in smaller text. The size displayed on the label is also in US but is shown in UK inside the tongue of the shoe.
We will of course cover the cost of return if we have sent the correct item to you but could I please ask you to check if it is US 9 or UK 9 you have received?

I ordered two pairs of hockey shoes as I wasn’t sure what size would fit my son as I had not purchased this brand of hockey shoes before. Unfortunately both pairs were too small so I returned them and got a refund for one pair and an exchange for a bigger size for the other pair. The refund was in my account within three working days and the bigger size arrived within two days of sending the others back. They fit perfectly and my son says they are really comfortable. Very happy with Direct Hockey and their excellent customer service.

I have been in contact with the warehouse regarding your returned item, they have advised that there is an extra Gryphon Hockey Glove with no information. When returning your item did you include your order number or any information to correlate your return to your order? The system is unable to associate the returned parcel to an order without the original order number.
Now that the returned item can be linked to an order, the return can be completed in the system and a refund issued.

Bought a hockey glove. No size info on the web site so looked at size info on manufacturer site. Had to open packaging to try on. Packaging includes sizing dimensions inside and guess what - it's different. Direct Sports refuses refund even though this is a statutory right. If the vendor does not provide sizing info then where are you supposed to look other than the manufacturer site? Yes there is no sizing info on the product page so there may be a pedantic loophole, but any reputable retailer who cares about customer retention would provide a refund and claim the money back from the manufacturer, whose mistake it is. Buyer beware from this site.
I've still got the packaging. You cannot open the zip lock without cutting the bit above with scissors, therefore it is impossible to try on the glove and return it with the packaging in pristine condition. Terms and Conditions do not override the Consumer Rights Act 2015

The packaging of the glove has a zip lock seal where it could be opened. As you stated on a call with a customer service representative, you cut the packaging open which now leaves the item in an unsaleable condition, and we are unable to accept the return.
All information provided on our website is supplied directly from the manufacturer. We believe it would not be appropriate to alter the manufacturer's supplied description when listing a product on our website.

I DO NOT recommend the Direct hockey company.
Misleading website whilst using their search criteria. Incorrect advice given by them when phoning regarding an exchange/return, overall shocking customer service, no effort made to communicate/help us.
After reading reviews on many forums it appears they have a reputation for not accepting any returns/ refunding, we too like many others have lost money on their refusal to refund, it appears bordering on scamming. Buyer very much beware.
My family will never use Direct Hockey again, 3 of us play/have played National League hockey.

We absolutely reject your claim that the Adidas Fabela .8 Hockey Stick (Black-Aqua) you purchased from us is displayed within the filter criteria when looking for an indoor hockey stick. I invite you, and any readers, to simulate this search and you will see that, correctly, only hockey sticks with “Indoor” within their name are displayed. At no point on our website is this hockey stick described as an indoor stick. I strongly believe you made an error when setting up your search on our site or are deliberately making an erroneous claim.
Aside from this, we would have been more than willing to accept the hockey stick back from you, inline with the terms and conditions of our Return Policy. This was communicated to you by telephone when you called to discuss however you failed to mention that the hockey stick had been used. You had actually tried to hide the evidence of use by colouring in the scrapes on the hockey stick with black Sharpie pen. The plastic had also been removed from the handle of the hockey stick and the grip was dirty, further showing signs of use. All items are thoroughly inspected by our Returns Department so this was noticed immediately and the stick was consequently returned to you.
We are not unique in being unable to accept back used items; you will find this to be the case with any/all hockey retailers you choose to shop with in future.

Dishonest DirectHockey, shocking service!
Returned a hockey bag which was too big for my daughter; wanted to get the Medium instead. They sent the too big bag back to me, saying it is "dirty and not in re-sellable condition" - we never used it, it was out of its packaging for tops 20 minutes and was definitely not dirty! They are difficult and dishonest, do not order from them.

All returned items are thoroughly inspected by our Returns Department upon receipt back here at Direct Sports. We do state online within our Returns Policy that “To qualify for a refund or exchange, items must be in a new, merchantable condition with all original labels and packaging intact.”
I am sorry we have found cause to reject your return but as we do not sell used items, we cannot accept back any items that show any signs of use, however minor. The bag you returned to us showed signs of use therefore it was returned to yourself.

I don’t usually write reviews but having seen the poor reviews so far and having a great experience I thought it only fair to do so. I also only realised after purchasing that directhockey.co.uk is part of directsportseshop.co.uk and you’re directed to leave reviews against that company instead (at time of writing c2,900 reviews score of 4.3). Lack of reviews and poor score almost put me off purchasing from DH, so advice would be ignore all these reviews and head to the correct review page!
