Amazing Company and Products

We have subscribed to ButcherBox for probably 6-7 years now (at least). The quality of meats, seafood, and frozen gluten free food products is 2nd to none. I feel reassured knowing my family is eating high-quality, well sourced meats and seafoods. They run Member deals constantly. We have bought holiday turkey and ham. Everything tastes amazing. If you need to delay your box, it’s easy. Customizing each box is also a breeze, and it’s nice because I can select different proteins based on what I want for that timeframe. I can also tack on add-on specials. Delivery is consistent and reliable. I think I only had 1 issue with the packaging very early on, and not since. Customer service is very responsive to any concerns. We will remain loyal ButcherBox customers!

Poor quality control

Poor quality control
A few items in every order always have compromised packaging. So you can not store them for long, but that is the whole reason why I bought them.
And yk that they will not continue to refund every time they fail.
No one should buy from them if they're expecting the meat that you buy from them to stay fresh. So annoying

Just cancelled after 2 boxes

Just cancelled after 2 boxes. The first box was fantastic and we were very happy, discussing how we’d keep this service foing indefinitely.
Second box came and was partially thawed. chicken wasn’t fully sealed and chicken juice was over everything, so we lost 3# of meat. A 4 pack of sirloins wasn’t sealed properly and 2 of the steaks were bad. A tritip that seemed fine was a bad, a very tough cut (sousvide at 128.5 and cast seared, so cook was good).
I called to cancel and was offered $20 off next 3 boxes as well as a replacement of the 3 bad items, but with 1/3 of the last box bad from improper sealing or a low quality cut, decided to just write off the loss.
Was hoping they might reimburse for the lost meats or reship, but they can only reship if we continue the subscription and no refunds offered.
So, we’ll try somewhere else. Please be aware the meats that were good were, for the most part, fantastic, and the bratwurst is second to none. But, 1/3 of a box being bad…

ButcherBox is AWESOME

My experience has been great over the last few years with ButcherBox. The quality has always been great with all the products. I would highly recommend Butcherbox for your protein related needs - the steak and pork are my favorites and of excellent quality and grocery stores do not compare in taste at all!!!

Order delivered a day late

Order delivered the day after it was expected. The dry ice was gone but thankfully the weather was cold enough to keep the food frozen. This will not be good now that outside temps will be warmer.

Late delivery notification

I happened to go outside and to my surprise, my butcher box had not only been delivered but the box was torn open, the dry ice had completely melted, and the food was already starting to thaw by the time I found it. To add insult to the situation, it then took an hour after I found it to receive a notification that it had been delivered. All meat was accounted for but I don't live in the best area and would appreciate a more timely notification to ensure my box doesn't get stolen

I order from Butcher Box every month

I order from Butcher Box every month. I am vegetarian, but I use their meat to make food for my animals. I buy from them because of the high quality of their meats and humane care of the animals from which they source. I believe it is very important to support humane, sustainable practices.

Easy ordering, quality products.

I began ordering from Butcher Box during COVID, when shopping was difficult & I used use the stay at home mandates to concentrate on healthy cooking & eating. While it’s become easier to find organic meats in grocery stores now, I do love the convenience of ordering & having shipped a wide variety of meats & seafoods. Everything I’ve ordered has been quality. I frequently use the recipes offered on the website which are geared exactly to the meats & seafood offered. I’ve had 1 issue with delivery. The box was placed on my front porch in direct sunlight on a hot day & the contents were partially thawed. I did call the company on this, worried the thawing would spoil the quality (It does not). Butcher Box insisted on compensating me even though I told them it was not necessary. I believe Butcher Box contracts delivery with a local service as I usually see a private car dropping off my goods. They’re not consistent with a delivery time & I’ve occasionally received boxes as late as 9 PM. I’m not a big meat eater & with my children adults & on their own, I wish Butcher Box allowed for a 3 month delivery subscription as I often don’t use up my entire order in 2 months. The website is easy to use, easy to edit your order & easy to change delivery dates if one will be out of town. I’ve never compared Butcher Box to other organic delivery services so can’t comment on value for for my money or make comparisons on food quality.

I've been using Butcher Box for many…

I've been using Butcher Box for many years now. My Box always shows up on schedule. Always still very frozen. And never any damage to the Box. I love how almost all of the packaging is recyclable. And while the selection is wide. I stick with the original box. With occasional add-ons. Because I don't want to loose my discount. But all the roasts do get a little old. All in all its been a great way to get good quality meat.

For the most part am satisfied

For the most part am satisfied. I do have concerns about quality control. We have a food sealer and when I take stuff out of the freezer there is never any blood laying in the dish. There is usually blood in the dish when thawing the chicken from Butcher Box. If blood leaks out am concerned about how well sealed the food is. Also had a chuck roast that didn’t fare well and had to be thrown out before cooking it, same concern about how well sealed the food is. Also, whoever delivers never rings the doorbell so don’t know how long the box is sitting outside my doir before I discover it out there!
