We managed to get up in the air on our first booking, i know it’s very weather dependent so it was a really great experience for us. The hot air balloon was so relaxing and it was fun getting involved in setting it up before hand. Finished off the perfect morning with a glass of prosecco. The pilot was really nice and knew lots about the area showing us what we could see in the distance. I believe our pilots name was Tom. :)

Despite a frustrating wait of 4 years…
Despite a frustrating wait of 4 years we had a successful flight on Sunday 23 Aug 2026 from Launceston. Yippee
It was a cold early start but thankfully toilets were available.
Setting up, the flight, landing and celebration were all excellent. We were kept informed and made to feel special. Sara the pilot and the crew were lovely and the 360 degree camera provided some lovely photos which were well worth the extra money. We had a lovely soft landing, helped with packing up and loading the balloon and then celebrated with some lovely Buck’s Fizz.
All in all worth the wait. Thank you Sara

Amazing experience and worth the wait. Tom Hook our flight guy was amazing!!! such a lovely man and explained so much during our experience. We had a lovely morning flight over Buxton in August 2026. Our landing was superb and we even enjoyed the packing up. A must do for everyone, thank you Tom for the best morining.

One day in Oxford
I was in Oxford for one day and I explained that I would book a flight for that one evening, provided I would get a full refund if it were cancelled through no fault of my own. This was necessary because I live in Malta, 2,000 miles away and re-scheduling was not an option. Virgin Balloons agreed and other than a small fee (which I was informed about before I made the booking), they refunded me in full with no hassle at all. The next time I am in the UK, I will look them up to book another flight.

We had an amazing time on our balloon…
We had an amazing time on our balloon flight and felt extremely lucky to get the exact date we wanted — 17th August — on our very first attempt.
Our morning flight took off from the beautiful Prested Hall site, and even though we arrived in the very early hours, we were warmly greeted by the pilot and crew.
They explained everything clearly, step by step, so we knew exactly what to expect. Watching the balloon inflate was incredible, and once it was ready, we all climbed into the basket following the team’s precise instructions.
Take-off was wonderful — we drifted gently as the sun began to rise, with golden beams shining through the clouds. The views were breathtaking.
Our pilot, Adrian, was exceptionally professional and clearly passionate about what he does. We felt completely safe in his hands. Once we were up and floating, it was unbelievably peaceful, with plenty of opportunities for photos and quiet moments to take it all in. We would definitely recommend this experience. It was truly wonderful.

Another flight cancelled after 2 years waiting. Totally ruined my 50th birthday gift. The most frustrating thing though the very next day my brother actually saw a virgin balloon in the air. Even more frustrating being told to ring back again after 3 o'clock when trying to rebook

We’re really sorry to hear how disappointing this has been, especially after waiting so long and with the flight being a 50th Birthday gift.
We completely understand how frustrating it must have been to then see one of our balloons flying the following day. Balloon flights are very weather dependent, and conditions can vary significantly between different launch sites and even from one day to the next, so unfortunately one flight may be cancelled while another is able to go ahead safely. That said, we do fully appreciate that it doesn't take away your disappointment and frustration.
We’re also sorry you were asked to call back again when trying to rebook. To explain, new flight dates are released on a weekly rolling basis and on certain days of the week depending on the location. These are added after 3pm on the designated day, however this is something that we are looking to change from 1st September 2026 in that flight dates will be added after 10am each day so that our valued customers have more time in the day to contact us and check for new flight dates. Once again we are sorry for any added frustration this caused.
We really hope we can finally get you in the air soon and make that long-awaited birthday gift worth the wait.

Sarah was an exceptionally experienced pilot. Her wealth of knowledge made the flight both fun and calming, leaving us feeling completely at ease throughout the journey.
The ground crew also worked incredibly hard to ensure the experience was enjoyable from start to finish. Their professionalism, enthusiasm, and attention to detail were greatly appreciated.

What a fantastic time I had,after reading that lots of people had waited many attempts to get air born,I didn't think my first attempt would go ahead,and to my surprise here I was with 15 other people and matt our great pilot and his team,ready to fly on Sat 22.8.26 at Grantham in Lincolnshire. The conditions were perfect.never before had I flown in a hot air balloon,but thanks to such an amazing team at virgin I'd do it again.thanks matt,and your team it was a fantastic exsperience.
