Great software supported by a great team!
After being using VEND for several years I couldn't be more satisfied with its performance and surprised for all the new features that their team implements regularly. This software has really help my business to perform better and have all the information I need to take decisions.
Whenever there's an issue (not many times I should say), their support team is very easy to reach to help us solving those issues.
Last but not least, It is worth saying, that during the difficult times we lived during 2020, the company stood by us, and support us not charging a single dollar while our stores were closed. Thanks for that!

Vend has been the best move
Vend has been the best move. We previously had MYOB and had nothing but problems, and these were made worse having to send files away to get fixed, and waiting on hold for hours. Vend is a breath of fresh air. So easy to deal with their staff who can access your POS via the cloud and resolve any issues instantly.

Vend has been great...but
Vend has been great for my small brick & mortar store connected to a Big Commerce website. I have two items keeping me from a 5 ratings.
1) "Pay in Store" orders on Big Commerce should import to vend as "Parked" orders. The current workaround for handling "Pay in Store" orders is terrible.
2) Sales Reporting is not robust. Simply trying to to find out "which customers bought this item" shouldn't require dumping all sales into a spreadsheet.

I really wish I read all of the reviews…
I really wish I read all of the reviews before signing up. As in the below comments poor service and communication. Over 7 weeks and the site was still not live with a staff member saying "sorry was on holidays". Great but we have a business to run.
Have found a much better system now with customer support that is responsive, unlike Vend. Find another company.

It's hard to rate vend from a single dimension. If we were allowed to give vend a review based on multiple factors we would say:

Context:
We are a multi million dollar a year retail operation with nearly 20 stores, currently running a much more expensive, but old school POS. We decided to switch to Vend because it's cloud based and seemingly integrated with lots of great apps and systems.
Results:
After integrating for 6 months, we are still not yet live. Constant issues with data migration (partial, all, none, deleted, wrong data, etc.), trial accounts expiring, native integrations not working, nothing is live.
In regards to customer support and service, it is non existent.
Conclusion:
Vend is a great solution if you are an operation with a few stores, and perhaps less than a million a year in revenue. However, once you have some complexity and the size of your turnover means you can't justify taking the risk level of a failed vend migration and little to no support behind it, then you are better off not choosing vend. The damages and true cost so far probably outweigh the entire cost of the platform.

We experience frequent glitches with inventory levels and the system going offline and getting an error message, whilst nothing is perfect, Vend is not a cheap subscription and I think this could be reviewed and have some more R&D done by the engineers to offer a better service.

We have used vend for 5 years and it was ok, however the last 8 months its gotten weird, in a bad way. The outages are weekly, the support takes 2-5 days to respond and most times they cannot trouble shoot ghosts in the system. We have had issues with taxes showing up out of nowhere, inventory being moved that no one could back track on, and today we are editing a value to zero, and we've done it for hours and its not updating.. I really seems like the programming is failling and they're not fixing as fast as issues arise? we are leaving Jan 1 as its too many issues at this time for 3 stores.

VEND...Suitable for some, just not us!
We have tried to make Vend work in our business but are about to dump it. I think the 5 * ratings on here are Vend initiated reviews primarily as there is no detail or substance to the comments. All of the lower ranking reviews are the reality of trying to use VEND.
Firstly the cost is fair, for a generic system, its probably not perfect for every business but I think most would be able to integrate this system into their business.
The front end, selling function also is appropriate. It is intuitave, customer date collection can be as advanced as you wish, the method of payment and invoice distribution works well.
I think Vend would work well for a business with a small range of product, with either repeat or walk in customers where you have an inventory of product that is actually on the shelf. You would have the inventory of items entered in Vend and have identified a reorder point. The items are best paid for at time of purchase.
Vend has been a disaster for our business as we dont fit into the above description. But I would be surprised to think that our business is unique.
We have a workwear business the provides embroidery and screen printing if required to the clothing. There is a stocked retail offering of our best selling garments. The range of available garments is significant and we cant keep everything in stock, but will always order specific products. A small part of our trade is cash & carry retail, but most is account sales.
This is where Vend fails terribly.
When setting up products, Vend can only manage 200 combinations of a given product. It is easy with clothing to exceed this when you have variations in size and colourways for a particular style. We asked Vend for a work around for this a few months ago, we are still waiting for a response.
As mentioned, we sell products that we may not have stock of. Vend wont tell anyone to order it. Vend support staff could not understand how this could ever happen, hence my view our business is unique. But we take an order, place the order for the garments, they come in and our processes run on a 7 day turn around.
Recovering an invoice for payment at a time after the initial sale is terrible. It has resulted in multiple operator errors and frustrating discussions with annoyed customers. There are multiple was to find the invoice, but if you dont go through the correct process, the payment integration with your eftpos wont work and the payment is not recorded.
Integration with Xero is hit and miss. We find that some invoices dont populate in Xero from Vend. Payments aren't transferred across. I have got to know our bookkeeper better than expected since we have had Vend. It is dissapointing that prior to sending out statements now, we have to have a staff meeting to advise staff the the statements are about to be sent. This is to ensure that they are prepared for the phone calls from Customers because the statements are wrong.
We have never received a follow up support call from Vend. When we have spoken with staff, they have always been friendly and prepared to try and understand the issue. An offer of logging the issue with support is always made, but that is the last you hear of it.
Im not sure where we go from here with POS. Our book keeper has asked we give it a bit longer to try and develop work arounds. From a business perspective, Vend does not given me confidence in the accounting data that it generates and manages. Vend was our first look at a cloud based system and has thrown enough problems at us that we have been educated. If nothing else, we are in a position to make a more informed decision about a better POS System.

What good is an epos system if cant take a deposit for a product and report those deposit's to HMRC accurately??? Id be better with a notepad and pen.
