Zero stars if I could.

Zero stars if I could. AVOID. They do not pay out if your gadget gets stolen. Paid monthly for insurance just to not have my gadget replaced when I was the victim of theft with CCTV evidence and police reports.

Seems serious because you think you get an insurance with the post office but no.
Long process, stressful and difficult if English is not your first language or don't know your way around technology.
Here are just a few of their requirements:
Lost Mode Activation: Put your device into Lost Mode and provide a screenshot of your Trusted Devices List from iCloud.
Proof of Purchase: Provide the original PDF proof of purchase invoice from O2.
Proof of Address: Submit a utility bill (electric, gas, or water) or a bank statement dated within the last 3 months.
Proof of Usage: Obtain and submit proof of usage from your network provider.
Proof of Payment: Provide a copy of the credit card or bank statement showing the payment made for the device.
Proof of Blacklisting: Provide written confirmation of blacklisting from your network provider.
Photo of Box: Upload a photo of the device box showing the IMEI number or serial number.ID Dual Validation:
Provide a photo of you holding your ID next to your face.Photographic Identification:
Submit a copy of your passport or UK driving license.

Additionally:
Do not remove your lost device from iCloud or Find My.Answer specific questions about the last use of the device.

Nextgen insurance changed to this as my…

Nextgen insurance changed to this as my gadget provider back in April. Had been a customer with them for years and tried to make my first claim where they stated they needed an independent phone report (which no shop offers unless you travel to an Apple shop miles away) unless it’s for a price greater than the repair itself.

Incredibly unhelpful, awful company that deserves its poor review status. I have made a complaint and will be cancelling my contract.

I am truly surprised by some of the…

I am truly surprised by some of the negative reviews, as my experience has been outstanding. I recently received the best service I've had in a long time. When my daughter broke her phone, it was replaced directly at Apple. The entire process was quick and straightforward, and I never waited more than 24 hours for a response or a refund. I am really impressed with the service and will definitely use it again.

Bought Travel insurance from well known…

Bought Travel insurance from well known brand TESCO BANK expecting to be met with great customer service and products. I opted to extend the policy to include gadget cover as we were a family of 4 all with apple products.
Unfortunately I had to use the gadget cover as I lost my iWatch while on a fishing trip. Upon reviewing the docs when I got back to the hotel, it began to look ominous and I subsequently found that I have to deal with a 3rd party Taurus Insurance Services terms and conditions to make a successful claim.
It stated that I had to gain a crime report from a police station within 24hrs of losing the gadget, and that without this no claim would be validated.
I had to take time out of my holiday to quickly locate a police station (in Thailand) and try to explain I required a crime number for my watch that had been lost (not stolen)
Long story short, after 2 police stations and 4 taxis I gained a report that stated I lost my watch while on a boat.
Upon my return I started the Taurus initial claims process, another 2hrs wasted uploading photos, filling out forms and fulfilling their requirements of justification.
5 days later I received an email stating they required more information, me to register with a UK gadget company that I in fact own the device and then subsequently register that I have lost the device, then send them a PDF confirmation of this, then provide them with the original apple purchase invoice, screen shot of the devices current location (at the bottom of the Thai Gulf), the imei number, Proof that i was using it as my device, proof via photo of me wearing said device, then run through the apple lost device process and supply screen shots etc etc etc. Another 2 hrs spent
Then 3 days later I get an email stating Approval of your claim, I went on to read said approval and they have approved a sum of £78, with a link to a 3rd party company who used to supply a used aluminium version (not the expensive steel one I lost) of a watch with no stock (NLA)
How much longer do I waste chasing this company for a measly offer of £78, Ive spent more money in time registering a claim and meeting all their terms.
So I thought I'd spend the time writing this review.
Shame on you TESCO BANK for partnering up with such a poor company, and shame on the ombudsman and FCA for not weeding out such companies that sell such promise and only deliver frustration and disappointment

Claim for a gadget is declined with no explanation. By the way, you have to report it to some weird company for a fee as well! before they review your claim. I am not giving up and go all the way, but reading other reviews, definitely think twice. By the way bought through the Post Office - never thought it would be a different company!

Replacement for a Replacement

First of all, before I get into things, I can't deny the fact that at the end of the day, the job got done and this insurer came through, however, what it took to get there, my goodness.

So, I bought this insurance through comparethemarket.com, when I made a claim, it turns out the company site I was being directed to wasn't even the correct one.
When I was finally brought to the right site, I then managed to follow the instructions, upload all the necessary information and send things off for submission.

Thankfully a few days later, I received approval and then a few days later I then received my claimed item.
Now, as I proceeded to set up my device, the device became locked, long story short, I was somehow sent a blacklisted/stolen/reported device. This was a clear inconvenience as my "new" device was now unusable.

It took a while to get the insurers to understand the issues I was now having with the "brand-new" replacement device they had sent me.
It then became a real faff to send the device back. I then had to wait for a replacement for the replacement and thankfully that device (which I'm currently using to type this experience) is working as expected and I've not had any issues.
But all in all, what should have taken a few days to sort out in one go, ended up taking a bit over 2 weeks. However, as I said to begin with, this was all eventually sorted, so I can't give it 1 star as things got resolved, but with that said, considering everything that came with this experience, I can't give it more than 2 stars as to this day, no one can tell me how this insurance company ended up sending me a blacklisted/stolen/reported device when I was supposed to received one that's brand-new.

Gadget cover claim. Substandard repair Taurus wont accept responsibility

Gadget cover claim. My phone a Samsung Z flip 3 was accidentally damaged on holiday. Fortunately, I had it insured via Sainsburys Travel Insurance. The claims process took a couple of days from initially making the claim to Taurus accepting the claim. The hold up is understandable as Taurus require certain documentation, proof of identity, proof of purchase and proof of use. They also have certain criteria that your phone must meet it must be bought from a phone company and not second hand or refurbished. I sent the phone off to be repaired, when it was returned a week later it seemed to have been repaired in a fit and proper manner. I was, therefore, very happy with the overall process. However, some three months later + 2 weeks it became apparent that the phone repair was substandard. So much so I contacted Tauris to report the following. The repair is obviously substandard as the surround on a screen shouldn't come off during normal usage. I have added a case to protect it from damage the phone also folds over adding further protection. There is therefore no reason for the pvc screen surround to fall apart in the manner that it has. The only obvious reason for this to happen is due to a substandard repair. This is quite obviously a latent defect and as such Taurus should take responsibility for completing a fit and proper repair. The response I received from Taurus stated “We note that the device was delivered to you on the 18th of March which was over three months ago. Unfortunately, your repairs are not covered under the warranty period, and we are unable to assist you further with this matter”.
I took the phone to a Samsung repair shop in Glasgow who have confirmed that the repair carried out is not fit for purpose and that it will cost £339 to make good. Shame on Taurus for not accepting responsibility for carrying out a substandard repair. By not accepting responsibility they are allowing technicians to repair phones in a substandard manner and not in accordance with manufacturers guidance. If this goes unchecked how many more customers will be affected. In circumstances like this they should have taken the phone back for investigation rather than just say you are two weeks past your warranty period so nothing to do with us. Surely the idea of insurance is to put you back in the position you were in prior to the accident. Clearly this didn’t happen on this occasion. Shame on you Taurus.

Claim approved in 6 weeks and the process was as smoother as it could be.

Claim approved in 6 weeks time, the process was as smooth as it could be, obviously a lot of proofs and documents required, documents attached while raising the claim, received an email asking for some additional ID proofs, another one with a few general queries to answer, a telephone interview to speak to a specialist, but as far as your claim is legitimate, there is always a progress in the positive direction. Although it took around 6 weeks to get to the approval stage, I felt it is very reasonable in terms of process and timeline, the emails are acknowledged within 48 hours. Thanks to the Taurus team for being very supportive throughout the claim process.

Accidentally dropping your phone into water may ruin your holiday...

Had to make use of my gadget policy after accidentally dropping my phone into some dihydrogen monoxide. The allegedly IP67 phone turned out to be as waterproof as a holey sock.

Very quick turnaround after documents sorted out (payout agreed whilst still on holiday and did not ask for device to be returned), and reasonable payout value / excess payment.

My only negative point is that their website doesn't ask for some documents if you reload the claim, and also appears to display some dates incorrectly, check it before submitting!

Note to others: Giffgaff will email usage records to Taurus (give them the support email address). The other documents required are your standard documents you should have for your holiday, plus proof of purchase of your device/s. I was not required to prove IMEI/serial of the purchase device as the store I purchased it from did not record it.

Great Insurance, would reccomend

It was the first time that I had to use my travel insurance, and taurus was providing the gadget insurance for my puffin policy.
I had the bad lack of having my phone smashed while on holidays and the following day damaged by water while doing canopy due to heavy rain and shortly after my phone died and became a brick. Standard insurance documentation required and sent over to them. After 2 days my claim was approved, and I was given the option to take the iPhone to the apple store for repair which is my preferred option. On the same day they confirmed payment had been made it was received in my bank account with policy excess deducted.

Terrible company

Company is ridiculous for the amount of information it requires, made the process really stressful and still no reimbursement. Looks like they just take your money and run. I will probably have to go down the legal route with them. STAY AWAY!

£29 for the loss of an ear pod pro

£29 for the loss of an ear pod pro, it’s a joke! First time needed to claim on insurance as it wasn’t our fault but police that searched our plane in Morroco, what a joke! Even with a £50 excess this is extremely disappointing, stay away from this company, it seems they will do everything they can not to even cover genuine claims!! After a response from Taurus, the actual price of the earpod to replace (re-conditioned) is £86 so yet again, great follow-up! Didn’t even go through Taurus initially but Tesco who used these guys third party! Won’t be using Tesco travel insurance again either if these guys are underwriting! And I went directly through Apple to get a direct quote and it was £86 so just shows how much research they do when generically answering these reviews!!

As your policy excess is £50.00, this is your liability towards your claim, so is deducted from the final settlement. This in turn means, the final settlement of £29.00 is correct.

Usually cheating and ripping off the customer. My main insurer did not inform me who insures my gadgets. Otherwise I would have changed insurers! Stolen sunglasses were automatically rejected because it is not a gadget. A claim for theft of a smartwatch was also rejected because I did not keep an eye on the thief when he took the smartwatch out of a closed bag together with sunglasses. They will always find something to refuse to pay compensation. I do not recommend this company!

SCAMMERS STAY AWAY DO NOT USE !!!!

I purchased gadget insurance via my travel insurance provider on GoCompare who for some reason insured my Phone with Taurus. I was robbed on holiday and I have provided every bit of evidence needed Police report, Proof of receipt etc but Taurus are claiming my policy wasn't purchased in England even though I purchased it the day I wanted to be covered so therefore they are re fusing to pay out even though I got robbed during the period I was covered for. How can they take your money to insure you but then deny your claim due to the location you purchased it from even though the claim was in the location and time frame I was "insured for"!

PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY READ THE REVIEWS, it is beyond me how they are still allowed to operate as a business after scamming 1000s of customers, happy to take your money to "Insure" but will never pay out.

Professional and fair service

Claim declined

My claim has been declined 00087508 because I couldn't provide proof of usage of my stolen phone!!!
It's been a month since I fought with my provider and received no answer so it means this is not my fault because I couldn't receive the proof of usage.I did provide everything needed.
I also provided the evidence of my chat with my provider and still, it's not enough.
This is ridiculous as is my first-ever experience!
After one month, today my claim has been rejected because I can not reach my provider.
I explained very clearly, that my provider doesn't have any email or contact number, so It's difficult to contact them!!

We are aware that GiffGaff can, and have, in previous examples provided Proof of Usage documentation.

While we appreciate your concerns, it is a policy requirement for all SIM enabled devices that evidence must be provided from a Network Provider to show that the device has been in use from when the policy was purchased up to the date of the incident.

Should you be able to provide this at a later date, we will be happy to review your claim.

Stay away

I had raised a claim for a damaged phone where the damage was so extensive that it had glass pieces falling off and the device is mangled. The damage happened while I was abroad. I didn't think there was any way I could carry it on two flights without being singled out at security checks for carrying broken pieces of glass. I had already gone through a lot of distress because of the broken phone and didn't want to attract more. I raised the claim while I was still abroad, but by the time Taurus approved my claim, I was back in the UK. They didn't remind me that I will need the device. They just ask you for an extensive set of documents. The only available settlement options were to take it to Apple for repair or swap out - either one requiring me to ship the phone that was just glass pieces falling apart. That is just unreasonable. The cherry on the cake was the behaviour of the support person I contacted on phone. She was appalling when i asked how can one carry something like that on a flight (she said "put it in a bag"). Oh and she also told me to "have a great day" at the end when I was clearly angry and disappointed. Stay away from them. I'm sad I spent so much time and energy on this. My fault for not reading the policy wording - even then I thought they would have some empathy and some understanding. I guess their only aim is to find reasons to not pay you.

HORRENDOUS COMPANY AVOID AT ALL COSTS

AVOID. AVOID.AVOID We have had to submit EVERY SINGLE document you can possibly imagine: flights, passport, imei, accounts, iCloud account, police report, the phone box,which pocket it was in etc all submitted.
Having lost an iPhone in a Thailand - this company has caused me so much stress. We paid extra for gadget cover. The worst company I have ever dealt with. I am seeking legal advice to take action.

The latest info was that the complaint was not upheld. As my son did a ski season prior to back packing, we took out separate insurance to cover this. When he started back-packing we purchased a different insurance with Taurus via Tesco. Despite being made to resubmit the claim three times (taking about ten hours!), it was eventually rejected because his ‘trip’ had already commenced - despite having alternative insurance for the ski season. In the small print there is a caveat stating this! Such a waste of money, an enormous amount of time and hours on the phone. They fight to pay through any loophole and everyone answers the phone stating they are in training. I have not been so stressed about s situation in a long time DO NOT GO WITH THIS SCAMMING COMPANY. It is morally wrong.

Its probably the best insurance company…

Its probably the best insurance company out there, initially my claim was rejected but after few months they opened the claim and I was awarded with £969. the initial claim was for for £519.00 but as good gesture of will I was awarded additional refund of £450.00
