I used Square Health via Aviva - watch out for inflated costs!
I used Square Health via a menopause support service and was issued with a private prescription to be arranged by Square Health after a consultation with Aviva.
I fully appreciate that private prescriptions carry a charge and may be more expensive than NHS prescriptions. However, neither during the consultation nor communication from Square Health afterwards, was I given any realistic indication of the likely cost of the medication.
I later discovered whilst in the pharmacy that the prescription would cost £90, around nine times what I normally pay through the NHS. Had this information been provided in advance, I would have made a different decision.
As a result, I made two unnecessary journeys to the pharmacy and was unable to collect the medication due to the unexpected cost.
My complaint is not about private healthcare charging for prescriptions. It is about transparency. Telling patients there "may" be a charge is not sufficient when the actual cost was 800% higher than expected.
I raised a formal complaint and have yet to receive any acknowledgement or meaningful response. Ironically, I have received a request to complete customer feedback surveys despite the complaint remaining unresolved.
This experience has left me feeling unsupported and disappointed. Clear upfront information and effective complaint handling would have made a significant difference.

Unfortunately, the price charged for private medication supplied is determined by the individual pharmacy. Unlike NHS prescriptions, there is no standard charge for private prescriptions and pharmacies may apply different medication, dispensing and/or administration charges.
As these charges can vary considerably between pharmacies, we are unable to accurately predict or provide an estimate of how much a prescription will cost when it is issued.
We appreciate that the amount charged may have been higher than you expected, however, if you are concerned about the cost of a private prescription in future, we would recommend checking the price with the pharmacy before the medication is dispensed or check prices and availability with other local pharmacies.

No problem getting a online consultation and no problem apart from the doctor never sent my prescription through so i could not get any medication,

First Mental Health Therapy
I had a first consultation with a therapist regarding my mental health.
I discussed some things I was struggling with and then got to the deeper things.
And they mentioned that they only deal with mild to moderate cases. So unfortunately they couldn't help me and was going to refer me back to my gp. Except they wasnt able to make contact with my gp, so I was kind of just left not knowing what to do or where else to go

We understand you may be frustrated that our mental health clinician wasn't able to help you when you spoke with them a couple of weeks ago as they're only able to deal with mild to moderate cases, as you mentioned, however, we can see that the clinician discussed some self-care techniques with you in the meantime and signposted you to other resources besides your own GP as well as providing contact details for urgent care services if you needed them.
While the clinician did try to speak to your GP directly, they were unable to do so but did leave a message with the receptionist to pass it on. Hopefully, they've been back in touch with you since and we wish you well. If you need us in the future, we're here to help if we can do so in any way.

Good though worth being selective for your need
Accessed through our work scheme, this was a good discussion about a specific topic. I did have to vary appointment times to generate a lot of different choices of GP (in my opinion there are quite a lot of GPs on the service with generic experience or a bit niche), but by being careful and spending a bit of effort to match experience and specialism to my particular questions, this was a quick, helpful service. I did get a neutral email asking me to submit a review.

I’ve used the service many times, mainly because it’s so easy to use. Compared with the rigmarole of trying to get an appointment at my local GP practice - with the Square Health service, you can go from deciding you want an appointment, to booking it, then having the appointment itself all within about half an hour.

Easy booking, useless assistance
Booking appointment was easy and Aviva app facilitated the process, conversation and image sharing well, although the ability to add a short video or more than a single image would be more useful. However the doctor only showed half their face during the whole consultation, arranged an unnecessary specialist referral for a minor injury and advised to call my GP or 111 for more immediate assessments anyway, where I actually got the appropriate at home treatment advice that was needed in the first place and confirmation the referral was completely unnecessary, a fact proven by the at home treatment working within a few days.

Not a great experience
The nurse I spoke to was lovely and from this call an appointment was made with a doctor. The call was on a Sunday morning. If I'm honest the call felt rushed and I don't think time was spent listening to my concerns, rather to end the call as soon as possible.

This is a fantastic service and so much quicker than using the NHS (ie local GP surgery). Appointment made the same day after booking an available slot on-line (plenty of choice via the app). Video call completed with your chosen consultant, mine was highly professional, engaging and responsive. I'd highly recommended service.
