No Strings Attached Freebies!!!
Any company that gives away some of their resources for free is a rare thing these days. No email, no payment details, no free trial. Just let me download the sheets I needed straight away, no strings attached. If I ever need this service on a more permanent basis I will definitely sign up. Any company this transparent gets my vote!

Support Sucks and SmartSheets is No Longer What It Once Was or Useful
Honestly - SmartSheets truly is THE WORST. Their Support is non-existent. As a subcontractor to a company that uses it, when I went to access a file through the link the company gave me I received a notice saying I didn't have permission for this folder. A button comes up saying REQUEST PERMISSION - We click on it (there are 3 of us with this issue) and the company never gets the request. I sent a message to support - on the site it says if you need support to send email to support at smartsheets dot com...However, then you get a message back saying that this address now longer is being used and please enter support question online. You do...And you get a canned response sending you instructions on how to give someone permission. That wasn't the issue. So, 3 times and going in circles I Tweeted Support. No response. I get an email back with the same canned response, even after saying 3 times that the issue is something broken on their side...And I am sent back to the same link to online Contact form...Which doesn;t ask me for a case#, but starts fresh - and once more I have to type all of this in again. Hey...It worked great in 2018...but now - Frankly not worth even bothering with!
Fraudulent charges: They show one amount, bill twice that
I didn't use this service for over a month. When I started to use it again, they presented me with a $9.00 charge. Fair enough as it's the price for a month. When I actually put in the credit card information, it charged me $18.00. So disingenuous and fraudulent to show one amount and charge another. Worse, to charge me for a service I didn't use for more than a month.
I'll be moving to something else. I'm reading other reviews and this company is slippery AF, looking to rip you off.
Sales Team is Sneaky
Their sales team is sneaky, slipping you a docusign contract into an email around your annual renewal. The wording is slimy and dishonest and alludes to the fact that this person has talked to you previously and is now providing the contract "we spoke about". This is their way of roping unsuspecting customers into a contract for an unwanted plan upgrade at double the cost. I have spent 4 hours so far trying to get the sales manager, Derek Krause to email me back. He ignores my emails. I called and made an appointment for 4 pm today, and he never called. I called the number again and was told he was in a meeting with someone else. I asked to speak with his boss. The stonewalling is impenetrable. Forget any transparency, accountability or customer service with this company.

First up the product, Smartsheet is fantastic, I have no issue with the product at all (except not handling time as a data type) so my gripe is not the product.
My issue lies with the UK customer service which is ATROCIOUS truly the worst I have come across.
We spent >5k to get the enterprise license and once they got the order they disappeared completely, trust me just use either the free or basic business plan DO NOT engage with UK sales or service

Customer support is HORRIBLE or maybe a better term is NON-EXISTENT. If you select "Contact Us" you get an automated email telling you to look at the articles! I've waited a week to get another automated response telling me they understand I have an outstanding support ticket. I'm on a deadline and ended up going to Google Sheets!
The worst experience of my life
The worst experience of my life. Undo buttons for text editing are disabled and the undo button in the application does not undo text edits while typing a long formula. The documentation is purely anecdotal with no explanation of how things actually work. Vlookup is fundamentally broken and lacks any serious documentation. Using the gui to perform vlookup should create a working formula (one would hope) but it doesn’t. The simplest functionality is missing, way better off using excel.

Ignore the bad reviews. You have to be somewhat intelligent to build an effective workflow with smartsheet, or pay for consulting. I respect a company that doesn't want to deal with unintelligent people, and avoids spending millions on a customer service team to answer stupid questions. They're spending their money in development (new features constantly). I searched high and low back in 2017 for an effective platform that would grow with any type of business. I'm a small business owner, under 10 million. I was under 1 million back in 2017.
AGAIN, building an effective workflow will require purchasing consulting services but longterm it will be worth it. Enterprise version, dynamic view add on, pivot, data mesh, calendar app. All worth it, I have them. If you aren't evolving with tech you'll end up in your competitors dust. I didn't purchase consulting services and learned everything myself. Utilize Zapier for web hooks / connections. Fillable forms, outlook connect, + 1,000s more.
Spend the time on tech and less time finding lazy office people who sit on social media and ignore important business matters. Less talk more action is smart sheets slogan. Thankfully they don't answer unintelligent questions, and work on their company.
Alex Kahn has been a super helpful rep, I think he's the 3rd one I've been on and he's the absolute best, and I plan on utilizing smartsheet for life.
Tech evolves by the minute these days. Don't kid yourself into believing the money isn't worth spending to be come more efficient.

I inherited Smartsheet and found it easy, intuitive, and reliable. I found the overall experience better than using Google Sheets that I had been used to using in previous roles (and Asana). It's flexible and after putting in just a little training/research I picked it up well. I recommend.

I have used SmartSheet for years and been a huge advocate. Recently they have fallen behind their competitors on user interface and started pushing extremely overpriced add-on software that is practically worthless. Their launch packages have turned into sales pitches for $2,500-$10,000 add-ons for the software we normally pay $1,000 per year. I spent $5,404 for an upgrade and launch package and they never finished the project nor will they respond to my call or emails. Months later I asked for a refund and they responded favorably and then stopped responding - never received that refund. I will no longer suggest clients and friends use their software.

Deleting entries on my to do list… things that I need to do… It makes it completely useless (and that’s when I notice, goodness knows how many times I have lost stuff)
(I’ve had to restore from a point in time twice now and looks like I need to do again!)
Forget feature, usability’s etc, unless it actually keeps the data in my spreadsheet: it is COMPLETELY USELESS!

Shocking online chat support, Smartsheet don't want your business
I've been using Smartsheets as a free trial user. I was thinking of whether it was worth converting to a paying customer when the trial run out but I had a few questions about the pricing model and services that are available to individual users (the information on the website is very limited). I used the online chat with 'Tom' but all I received were a few, terse, irrelevant or ambiguous one line responses. There was a complete lack of care in answering my questions and a total ambivalence about whether I converted to a paying customer. Being in a different country, I asked if he would phone me, he refused saying that they don't provide support to individual customers! Wonderful, they'll take your money but won't give you support.
A far as the product goes, it's pretty clunky and very limited customisation features. I didn't get my questions answered about collaborators so I couldn't fully evaluate it however as for customer support, well, that's non-existent! There are plenty of other cheap project management tools out there, I'd avoid this one.
