Lengthy wait and bad coffee. A bit disorganised and only one toilet. Southport.

We visited Papa's Fish and Chips in Blackpool. The service was impressively fast, and I ordered a beef burger without mayonnaise which they got right, so I appreciated that.

Unfortunately, the burger itself was very dry and tough to chew, which was quite disappointing. My relative ordered the grilled seafood platter. The haddock was lovely and full of flavour, but there was very little salmon on the kebab and it came without the salad garnish that was described on the menu.

The only other issue was that the same Sam Fender song was playing on repeat for most of our meal, which became quite frustrating. When we asked for it to be turned off, it took about five minutes for it to be switched off.

The fish and chips were really nice , fish very fresh. Despite being exceptionally busy and advised food would be 1 hour it arrived much quicker than expected. Staff very friendly and special mention for Lynne who made me feel very welcome as a solo diner.

Visited the new Southsea restaurant yesterday, food was excellent as expected. What stood out for us was the excellent customer service, everyone was so welcoming and friendly without being over the top. So nice to see. Carry on the good work!!!

We recently visited Papas in Cleethorpes as a family of five and came away very disappointed.

The food was extremely overpriced for the quality we received. The bread was dry, the butter didn’t taste pleasant, and even the ketchup was poor quality, which really surprised us. Overall, the meal didn’t justify the price we paid.

What made the experience worse was seeing members of staff arguing with each other in front of customers, which created an uncomfortable atmosphere. The toilets were also in a very poor state of cleanliness, and the toilet door wouldn’t even close properly.

For the amount we spent, we expected a much better standard of food, service, and cleanliness. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning. There are plenty of smaller, independent local restaurants in Cleethorpes that offer much better value, friendlier service, and a far more enjoyable dining experience.

We went to Papa’s in Willerby for tea, the food was lovely BUT the flies! They drove us mad! I counted at least 8 on our table…that’s without the ones we were wafting away! We mentioned it to the waitress, her response was ‘we don’t have air conditioning, so we’ve windows and doors open’. I won’t be returning in a hurry.

Today I visited the shop and the owner/fryer spoke to the other man/men in an absolutely terrible shouting way!!! Really bad!! It scared me, I or my family will never go in there again. Absolutely tyrant!!!.

Shown to an unlaid table. Had to ask for it to be laid. The cups of tea stood on the bar for about 5 minutes before being brought to us. A 40-minute wait for food, which we were not told about. When asked to see the duty manager, it took over 10 minutes for him to come see us, and his attitude was "so what." The plaice was very greasy, and the haddock was overcooked and not that hot. Worst fish and chips ever. The female staff members were lovely. If I could give no stars, I would.

Recently, following the hype and publicity, whilst in Cleethorpes we went to dine at Papa's fish and chip restaurant, and were somewhat disappointed. It is a strange place, the restaurant being in an old entertainment theatre , which is too large to have dining atmosphere. It is an odd ordering process, having to be done at the bar. The fish and scampi were very nice, but the special batter was nothing to write home about. My slice of lemon did not materialise. We ordered two sides of mushy peas which did not come with the food. We had to chase that up twice, it only coming halfway through eating. The chips were good in volume but mediocre. The staff were only playing lip service to their roll . Altogether not a pleasant experience. Alot needs to improve. The place does not deserve the acclaim it gets. Our local chippie is far superior. We will not return.

Papas Blackpool. Been a few times but wasn't impressed at all tonight. Went in earlier this afternoon and booked a table was asked where we would like to sit (Table of 6). So I had a look around and asked if we could seat on a booth they are at the back straight ahead from the door. Past the bar straight ahead. Was told no problem will write the number in book for you. When we got there we were told no you cant sit there you are here. Middle of front windows where the three of us couldn't see a thing because of the sun. We ordered no large haddock available. Our order was over £100 and when the food came 3 out of the 6 meals went straight back because the chips were cold. Then the other 3 had to wait for there sauces and extra until the cold food came back. It wasn't busy 8 tables if that its not exceptable to bring out 3 cold dinners. Both of the fish meals were taste less and not worth the money. The halloumi was hard, garden peas were either tinned or had been in boiling water for a while because they were over cooked. No one came over to ask if everything was ok. Before we left 4 of the females went to the toilets all.of the 4 toilets that were used the toilet seat were lose. When we left there was a few empty dirty table and it looked like there was alot of half eaten food left.We come from Carlisle and have been a few times and have enjoyed it but tonight unfortunately was not the case. The place has gone very down hill since we first came.

Dreadful experience at Papas Cleethorpes ( on the pier) .Took friends who were visiting the area and was genuinely embarrassed. One of the party Gluten free so ordered the chicken... only to be told 10 mins later no chicken , then brought wrong sized fish out ( tried to pass off a very small piece of haddock as being medium but was smaller than the small, didn't have custard for deserts, then didn't have the sticky toffee pudding , therefore didn't bother..
It was dreadful. Won't go back. Did feel sorry for the young man serving us as he was equally embarrassed... poor experience, poor food standard and not the experience it used to be. Duty Manager not visible, didn't come over to acknowledge the repeated issues.

At the crystal peaks location, there was a couple young ones who looked to be dating. This is not good as even from my seat in the restaurant I saw them play and touch eachother a lot. They were non problematic when the young man served me, I think his name was Tyler. But it made me and my wife wonder who's in charge and allowing this. It is no place for that type of behaviour. I hope that the place sorts out this as its not the first time we have come in and seen this, other than that the place serves cheap and tasty food.

Had lunch with friends at Papas Crystal Peaks in Sheffield. Pauline our server was lovely and friendly and very attentive. Great food and service thanks

Ate there recently with my family. Haven’t been for a while. The staff were attentive and the food was excellent.
It was really quiet again and I’m not sure why because it’s a really nice experience.
I had halloumi, chips and curry sauce. It was so tasty! The portions are really generous too!
I would definitely recommend!

Best Fish & Chips in Blackpool!!

Myself and partner have been quite a few times and every time the food has been excellent. We came at the weekend with more family members who had never been and were amazed by the portion size and the great quality of the food. There were 8 of us in total and was served by Papa who made us feel very welcome. The experience was great, and as always we will be returning many times in the future along with the family. By far the best fish and chips I have had, the curry sauce is very tasty and the halloumi is also the best I have tasted. Definitely recommend this place to locals and visitors.

Just had a gorgeous lunch at Papas in Willerby. There were five of us and the service by Annie the waitress was amazing. She is a credit to Papas and we will definitely be back! Thank you

Been a couple of times now to the Crystal peaks location for the 6.99 lunch time special and the food was lovely and it’s such a nice calm atmosphere. We were served both times by a lovely lady called Alison. We will be back!

We had a really enjoyable visit to Papas Fish and Chips in Cleethorpes. The fish and chips were cooked beautifully – the haddock was fresh and tasty, and there was no greasy aftertaste at all, which made it even better. The mushy peas were lovely too and complemented the meal well.
A special mention to Lesley, who served us – she was absolutely lovely and made us feel very welcome.
The restaurant was reasonably clean, although it could have been a little better in places. Pricing felt fair overall: just under £38 for two medium haddock and chips, peas, tartar sauce, and a pot of tea each. It’s not the cheapest option, but everything was freshly cooked and really nice, so it felt worth it.
Overall, a very good experience and somewhere we’d happily visit again.
