They Oversold availability and would not redeem my voucher
They advertise, sold and charged me for a kayak experience, but the kayak company was all booked, over a month out. The Kayak company told us the "deal had been too popular" (over selling) and that they would extend the deal through labor day. We go to book later in the summer and the company has a message saying they are booked through the end of the season. No way to leave a message. No response to e-mails. I have tried to book all summer with no luck. When I approached Living Social, they keep sending me form letters and take no responsibility to charging for a deal that there wasn't enough availability, even mid-day on week days, to actually provide the services. I'm guessing this is a major part their business model. All the costumer care representatives were unsympathetic and unwilling to address this issue. I received a series of form e-mails in response to my many contacts.
No Response At All
I bought a deal from Gardening Express through Living Social here in Ireland in April 2013, it's now end Aug and the product hasn't been delivered.
They haven't even replied to any of the emails I've sent and from experience I know that is usually a company that doesn't give a flying &*&* about their customers. There's no point in appealing to their better nature are they don't have one.
Luckily we have the Euro Center here in Dublin and I'll use their offices to get my money back, but Buyer Beware - these guys will take your money and leave you out in the cold.

Here is what you do if you are scammed by living social
Long story short, I bought a voucher from LS, tried every possible method to contact the merchant, and was unable to get connect with merchant. Contact living social customer service, terrible service, they even suggested to give the voucher away as a gift, unbelievable.
I was not going to loss $145 on the scam from them. So I contact my credit card company. Mailed in some supporting documents, explain the situation, and emails between me and living social. I just got the letter from my credit card company, to confirm about the refund. A bit of work, and couple months wait, but I am happy they didn't steal my money. It has been 5 month from purchases date to the day I filed the claim, so if you get scammed, call your credit card company, it won't hurt.
I do not recommend this Website
I do not recommend this Website because you will never know how much shipping you will pay until you pay the full price and you redeem the item for the original website. also in my case they didn't send me my Item until I contacted them and they was overseas so they ship it after 10 days and until today which is is 25 days after I redeemed the Item I didn't receive it yet.
Livingssoical, You Are Terrible with Your Customer Service!!!
We bought a two hour handyman service ("All under One Roof" in Houston 50% off) on Livingsoical.com and thought it was a great deal...No Not at All after what we went through for several weeks to contact the company to set up an appointment. We contacted the company numerous times via phone calls and emails to set up a two hour handyman service that we had purchased from Livingsoical. You guess what happened. After 3 phone calls and 3 emails between June 25 and July 14, we didn't hear from the company at all. After three weeks of our failed attempts to get hold of staff at the handyman service company to schedule the service, we finally requested Livingsoical to intervene to resolve the issue. Finally, two days after we emailed Livingsoical on this issue, the handyman company finally contacted us to inform that their technician would be at our residence between 5 and 7 p.m. on July 16 to service the items that we had previously emailed for two hours as specified in our Livingsoical voucher. However, around 4 p.m. on July 16, an hour before the scheduled service time, the company called our home (we have the name of the staff at All under One Roof to whom my husband and I spoke on several occasions but decided not to disclose his name here) and told us that there was a scheduling issue at the company and thus two technicians, instead of one person, were on their way to do the job at an additional hourly rate of $35 per person. We reminded him of the service promise that the company made on the previous day, July 15 when we set up the service, "sending one technician for a two hour handyman service" as well as the service provision clearly specified on the Livingsoical voucher. However, he refused to honor the service that we were promised both verbally and in writing. We called the Livingsocial help line immediately after talking to the handyman company to cancel the voucher and get the full refund due to the merchant's fraudulent handing of the scheduling (basically bait and switch scam), their lack of customer service (no response for over three weeks, so we basically ran out of Livingsoical's one-week window's to get the refund!) and further refusal to honor the service promise made both verbally and in writing. However, Livingsoical didn't honor our request for the refund. We are disputing the credit card charge at this point with our credit card company. It is a truly shame and outright fraudulent what Livingsoical is doing to us and their customers.
Terrible, a scam, unprofessional.
Terrible! A scam to get you to pay more for what things should cost since you already paid for the voucher, you might as well pay for the rest!
Absolutely no refund whatsoever...Don't bother write or explain your reasons or concerns because they will not listen to it, and they keep coming back to you with responses that have nothing to do with your reasons or previous conversations you had with them. The whole help line has ADHD or Alzheimer since every time you talk to them, they said they will escalate it, and the next time you have to call them again to follow up, they will come back with different reasons like you never talk to them before. They pull policies out of thin air to say no refund! Unprofessional.
Very bad – unacceptable experience, unreasonable
You get their canned responses to any issues/complaints that you send to them. Living Social does not do due diligence on the merchants they partner with and therefore do not care about their own reputation if the merchants fails to satisfy the consumer with the voucher. TOTAL SCAMMERS, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, UNETHICAL AND SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS. DO NOT USE THEM EVER!!!!!
terrible
Purchased an oil change deal from living social. I call to make an appointment which is booked for two weeks out. When I show up to my appointment they tell me it will take 6 hours.wtf?? For an oil change?I was told to come during the week or expect to wait that long on a weekend. Well I have to work so they highjack my whole day for an oil change, not convenient at all. I called livinglivingsocial and was told I was outside the dumb 7 day window for a refund. Livingsocial sucks and they just want to take your money. Don't waste your $ or time with these crooks I would give them negative stars if I could
SCAM!!
After I paid for teeth leaser-whitening treatment the soonest appointment with Rite Smile in Brunel House in Cardiff they could offer me was in 4 weeks time!
After 4 weeks waiting I turned up for my appointment when receptionist (which represents another few companies on the same floor) informed me that there is NO ONE TO DO YOUR TREATMENT HERE TODAY AS SHE CANT SEE ANY APPOINTMENT BOOKINGS FOR THE DAY. I left all my contact details with receptionist for them to contact me SAP. They never did. I waited for two weeks then decided to make a call to find out why nobody contacted me back.
The women from RITE SMILE responsible for my treatment acted in very rude and arrogant manner lying through her teeth that my appointment was at 11 o'clock and not at 9!!!
She refused to issue refund then told me to contact LIVINGSOCIAL customer service centre and with sarcastic coment 'AND GOOD LUCK WITH THEM' hung up on me!
LIVINGSOCIAL denies ANY RESPONSIBILITY!
DENY RESPONSIBILITY WHEN THINGS GO WRONG!!!
I bought a deal for beach hut hire for the day. I contacted the company within the time specified & was told that no beach huts were available until after the expiry date printed on my voucher. I have contacted Livingsocial 3 times & have received a standard email saying I am not eligible for a refund. How can this be the case when the deal is not as described?
Scam total rip off company
Bought an item through living social it arrived broke tried to contact both living social and the company itself on many occasions had to reply very poor service so beware! Rip off comany
Living Social is AWFUL! TOTAL SCAM!!
AWFUL EXPERIENCE!! I purchased a living social voucher for a local nail salon. The salon refused to honor it! When I complain to Living Social and ask for a refund, I'm told they don't do that. They were completely unhelpful and washed their hands of me as soon as they took my money. There is no accountablity and these companies can choose to honor the vouchers or not. I was told that it wasn't their problem and feel free to gift it to a friend if I no longer want it. I wouldn't "gift" this horrible, infuriating experience to anyone!
terrible customer service. 4 emails later and still no reply to complaint
i bought a voucher for toothbrush heads from this site. the expiry date was 5/11/13 which in english reads 5th november 13. i have logged in to use it last month and it says voucher expired. i have sent 4 emails and no reply. i am now assuming that the date was in american format but surely if it is an english voucher the expiry should be in english. i am appalled at the lack of response. what a scam!
Total Scam
Ordered "goods" through this site. Only received half of my order so I emailed LS to follow-up. They made me wait over a week with repeated emails that they were checking into it for me. Than send me an email saying that I should follow-up with the company. This is absurd. I didn't order through a different company. I ordered through LS and they are the ones who took my money. I ran into a similar issue with a Groupon order a few months ago. Groupon asked that I wait for the deal to close, than when I still didn't get the missing part of the order promptly refunded my money. Absolutely no runaround. I know who I will- and WON'T- be dealing with in the future.
Changed fine print
I have used living social for meals out several times without any problems. Unfortunately, due to their change of fine print, I will not be buying from them again. I telephoned a restaurant to book for a meal, three weeks before the expiry date and find that now you have to book a month before the expiry date. They print their vouchers so that they fold neatly into four and on the front of the voucher, it gives the expiry date, but not the date that they have to be used by. Why? I have lost my money and will not be using them again. It is not always possible to plan a month ahead.
Please stay away from Living Social and Stop buying deals from this company
LivingSocial Help Request #10127618
I purchased a deal from Living Social. Planned to use it, However, have unusual circumstances. Our family experience unusual experience. We experience 3 sudden back to back death in the family last year (July-Nov-december). So, I explained the situation in a long email, explaining that we are grieving, and I would like to get a refund please, because there's no way we can utilize the service. My daughter is supposed to use the tennis lesson, but she's really closed to both my aunt and her uncle that just passed away last year! So, she did not want to do it right now.
The next day, I got the response from Daniel, the customer service rep, and I got this common template that they use to response to customer. Apparently, He did not even read my questions, and just responded below:
Hi Vimala,
We're sorry your deal for High Octane Tennis didn't work out for you, and we understand you'd like your voucher to be refunded. Unfortunately we are unable to extend you a credit card refund or Deal Bucks credit because your request is outside of our refund policy. We do, however, have two options for you to choose from:
•You can make someone's day by gifting your voucher to a friend. To learn more about gifting, check out this article: How do I give a deal as a gift?
•If you're not able to use your voucher prior to the expiration date, we've got you covered. For many of our deals, you can still use your voucher for the paid amount beyond the promotional value expiration date. To find out more about using your voucher for its paid value of $98, take a quick peek at this article: What happens if my deal is expired?
This is how I translated the response:
Number 1 response: I really don't care if your family had sudden family death and still grieving, why don't you just give that away to your friends/family? Who cares if your family is grieving, move one and give the deal to your friends anyway.
Number 2 response: Well, I really don't care if your family is grieving, you still can use the voucher with the original value. Living social really doesn't care. We already took your $98, why do we care? Let me give you a link to make you feel better to read for: "What happen when my deal is expired?" What??!!!!!
There is no HUMILITY for people that work for this company. Obviously, the main goal for the company is to extract as much money from people, and deal with the refund/cancellation policy maybe..I guarantee, that this company will not give you a refund. I am truly dissapointed, cause I had been using Living Social for the past 3 years. However, the company LOST ME, and I will spread this review to my Facebook account, twitter, and post all this review online. So, everyone can be aware, and please stay away from buying deals from Living Social. Obviously Living Social does not think of its customer or is trying to do the right thing. I would never use Living Social again.
LivingSocial Help Request #10127618
Daniel is my customer service rep...Hopefully you learn your lesson next time!
A Sinking Company Who Doesn't Understand the Concept of Customer Service - STAY AWAY
Worst customer service EVER! Bought a coupon to a 3rd party merchant for an electronic product. LivingSocial charged against credit card, and 3rd party sent defective product. Contacted 3rd party via phone number listed on their website, and number was "temporarily unavailable". Emailed 3rd party, but (surprise, surpise!!) never responded. LivingSocial flatly refused to provide refund for a defective product. Basically, they take your money, then directs you to their "partner", and you're SOL if their "partner" doesn't deliver. Had to dispute through credit card to get a refund. STAY AWAY -- I've heard other people having similar poor customer experience. Groupon is 10x better -- they get the concept of "customer service"!
Living Social is a harbor for bad companies to get to your wallet.
Ther are SCAMS everywhere! I know this. What bothers me is that Living Social does nothing to help protect its customers from companies that are running SCAMS. They always hide behind their policies which apprently do not protect you as member. They only serve to protect the SCAM merchant.
Don't trust Living Social. I have never had a problem with Groupon. Living Social on the other hand, has no standards to which they hold their merchants to and they refuse to help you resolve issues with merchants.
SCAM!!!
I purchased sky diving tickets for 2 people ($422) through them back last 2012 Dec, and found out there is no such company. It was a scam. Their customer service was terrible. You would think they would call and apologize repeatedly and try and fix the problem asap right? Instead nobody contacted me, nobody responded to my claims, and one day (after I called my own credit card company to dispute the charges), they just deleted the "voucher" off of my account and gave me my money back (probably because of the dispute through the bank). several months later I thought I'd give them another chance when I saw they had a deal for a "sumo wresting show- with sushi and hot sake" and I made the purchase. Well, this time, I hired a nanny and took my husband out on a surprise date night and guess what? After commuting to the show in traffic for 60 min. we found out at the venue that the show had been cancelled!??!! Nobody had called to let us know :(
Livingsocial is a joke! It is a pity because they have some good deals on it, but what good is it if they are a waist of time and money. I am forgiving to mistakes, but what they lack is a good customer service on top of it.
SCAM!
This site has been a complete disappointment. Twice I have tried purchasing "deals" and both times they were invalid. When I contacted the company about it they assured me it would be taken care of and they would get back to me but never again contacted me and I lost out on what I bought. I will absolutely never again buy anything from this website again and advise you not to either.
