A defective Living Social product almost destroyed my iphone
I purchased a "battery powered" iphone case from one of Living Social's vendors. The case stopped charging within a couple days and the final time I used it my iphone became very hot to the touch from being attached to the case. I tried to contact Living Social's vendor and they never answered my calls or emails. I then contacted Living Social directly and for a month they sent me emails saying they were "working on the problem". The last email stated I could receive a credit ($5 for a $17 purchase) to purchase another one of their defective products. I've used Groupon a lot and never had a problem and hoped for the same from the similarly marketed discount company Living Social. It was horrible customer service and I will never use Living Social again.
Merchant unreachable to schedule appointment. Livingsocial will not refund money.
I bought a voucher for a car detailing service. The merchant is unreachable. When you call their number it says "mailbox is full". Livingsocial customer service called them while I was on hold and confirmed that she got the same message. Then I get an email from Livingsocial (Help Request #14029415) saying that they confirmed the merchant is actively scheduling appointments at the number so they cannot refund my money. They just out and out lied about it.
Buyer Beware
I bought a cosmetic treatment for close to $300. I scheduled my appointment well ahead of the expiration date. The merchant informed me that she would not be able to complete the treatment successfully because I required several treatments beforehand to prepare the site. These treatments and healing would span several months and cost at least an additional $500. I did not want to invest the extra time and expense. I contacted Living Social and told them the merchant is not willing to honor the voucher as is. They told me they would investigate and contact the merchant. Shortly after they told me the merchant said she would honor the voucher, but I STRONGLY repeated she will not without conditions that are unacceptable to me. Then they relented a bit and offered me deal bucks. But I wanted my money refunded. Fortunately, I appealed to my credit card company and after looking at my documentation, the full amount was credited to my account. As a result of this experience, I would never use Living Social again and never recommend them. They were dishonest as far as I am concerned. I will stick with Groupon from now on.
Did not return an unauthorized purchase
"I looked through the site and found a pair of tickets I may have been interested in and placed them in my cart. Then a window popped up asking me to update my credit card information. I entered in my card number, thinking that it was just for their records. Guess what! They charged my card $170 for the ticket without confirming the sale. I immediately called them and asked to have my card refunded since I didn't authorize the purchase. They basically told me to wait for an investigation (or until my charge went through), then they sent me an email stating that "it was out of their refund policy." I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THIS SITE AGAIN. The people at Livingsocial.com are crooks."
They did not refund me for a service I bought but never recieved.
I bought a living social deal for Taylor Cleaning. I contacted the cleaning service to set up an appointment, not only was it frustrating waiting around and no one showed. I contacted them again and no response. When I contacted Living Social for a refund the response back was that" the voucher was used. We are sorry we are unable to assist further. Please continue to reach out to Taylor's Cleaning Plus since they will be taking care of you." Of course no response from Taylor's. I expected Living Social to at least credit my account. This is by far the worst customer experience I have received.
Would like to give 0 starts
I bought 2 vouchers for a friend and myself, it was very difficult to book the lessons die to the company only dealing by email and changing booking requirements. Eventually managed to book a suitable time for is both but the company cancelled the session and wanted us to book another day - impossible for a variety of reasons, they told us to get a refund from Living Socials. As can be seen from all the other reviews on this site this is like blood from a stone. They refuse point blank to refund even though we could not use the deal and it wasn't our fault, we want to go but the company cancelled.
No more of these dodgy vouchers.
The deal was for a makeup session - I ended up booking directly with the Mac store where after your 'lesson' you get the amount you paid for the session in goods from the store, so it is essentially free, a far better deal.
CON ARTISTS
My promotion ran at the beginning of January 2014. Initially it was meant to be for two weeks, near the end of my promotion I received an email to ask if I wanted to extend the ad. I said yes because I was happy with amount of vouchers which we're being sold, little did I know that the more you sell for THEM the less chance you have of being paid. My account manager Luke was very unhelpful and couldn't be bothered when I repeatedly called up to see why I hadn't been paid. They only pay you when you have redeemed 30% of the vouchers, however the more you redeem the less chance there is of being paid 30%. It is now 4th February and I still have not been paid. This company are bunch of thieving scum bags and I'm instructing my solicitor to recover the money owed to me. DO NOT PUT YOUR COMPANY IN THEIR HANDS.
Misleading ads
A terrible company which misadvertises products, and fails to support customers. This weekend I received an ad for a Valentine's Thames Cruise, which, after I inadvertently purchased before reading the pages of fine print, turned out to be available on every day EXCEPT Valentine's Day! I wrote LivingSocial within minutes, but they were closed on Saturday. I called promptly Monday morning and an operator assured me they would refund the money. Twenty minutes later I received an email saying that there were NO refunds on the purchase. I called to speak to a supervisor and was put on hold for 20 minutes, when I hung up. Do not buy from this MISLEADING website! And if you do purchase something, you can't expect support from their Customer Service center!
Horrible Company - Will Not Honor What They Sell
Horrible customer service. I purchased a voucher from them back in November and the merchant won't return calls or emails. So I can't use the voucher I paid $80 for. I contacted living social and they did nothing and refused to refund my money. I disputed transaction with credit card company. WILL NEVER USE LIVING SOCIAL AGAIN. I will stick to groupon and there fantastic customer service.
Terrible!!!
I ordered items in October from two different companies. Neither has arrived and it is late January. Numerous emails to LS only result in form replies. One phone call two weeks ago was answered with "We understand and will get right back to you." Their emails: "Consumer Advocate will respond to you shortly." No one ever does. Emails to one of the companies (ePacificMall) also receive only form responses but one did say, "..be beyond doubt as these products will reach you in-time for Christmas. All we want for Christmas is a happy customer." Well, it's way past Christmas and where are my products? Rather than vent my outrage as I am doing here, I suggest that other scammed customers contact Consumer Affairs and/or if, in the U. S., Better Business bureaus as well as their respective consumer fraud agencies. Maybe someone should start a WEB: LivingSocial Scams???
Nightmare for business owners!
I was told what offer I could promote, it was not what we wanted to do but my sales rep for LS said it was what was trending at the time. btw I started trying to get this going in March and never heard from anyone until July...So my stylists got stuck doing shellac manicures even though they wanted to do a hair promotion, needless to say most hair designers do not like to do nails so we got complaints and I feel over all it hurt my business. No one at LS told me how to run a deal, how to pay my designers, how the payments were broken down etc. When I tried to get help..no answer, had to email, got a snarky reply indicating that I was kind of dumb. Still no answers to my questions.
At the end of the day I figured it all out on my own and will NEVER use them as a business owner or consumer ever again.
Avoid LivingSocial like the plague!
I ordered 2 USB charger cables on keyrings, as Christmas stocking fillers. After waiting weeks for them to arrive, I contacted the supplier, Shopper Gold, and received an unhelpful response which was barely literate! After further fruitless waiting, I was promised a replacement which I knew was never going to reach me.
I then contacted LivingSocial, who kept telling me I hadn't redeemed one of the vouchers. In response, I sent them the confirmation email from Shopper Gold which listed both chargers. They dug their heels in and refused to supply me with a refund...luckily, I had paid using PayPal and after lodging a claim with their Resolution Centre, I finally received a refund!
LivingSocial is to be avoided like the plague...Buyer Beware!!!
Poor customer service
All I can say is that this is NOT good company you can rely on, overcharge for shipping and more than 15 days to deliver an item is unacceptable.
This is the first and last time I will ever use this company!!!
Very dishonest
In the past two days, I came across a couple of deceptive deals on Living Social. I tried to purchase an item for my Mom for Christmas. I had a $20 living social credit and was offered an additional 15% off. I tried several times to make a purchase, but it wouldn't let me. I called and spoke with a customer service rep, who told me that even though the deal showed open, they reached their limit and the item was sold out. I checked back on the website a few hours later to find that even more were sold, so again, I tried without success to order the product. When I checked a third time, even more were sold, but I still was not allowed to complete the purchase. Later that night, my Mother received an email from Livingsocial with the item listed as still available. I went online and once again was denied access to purchase it. I had my Mom put the item in her cart and found that she was able to do so. For the final time, I tried to purchase it through my account and was denied. So, I asked my Mom to purchase it. Guess what? It went through with no problem at all. My Mom, who had no credit or discount code was able to make the purchase. My conclusion is that they did not want me to use a 15% off code and my $20 credit. When I called and spoke to a supervisor, she assured me that wasn't the case, but I don't believe her. The other problem was they offered a remote car starter installed for $99. When I called the company, they informed me that the $99 didn't include a bypass, that would cost an additional $125. This was in no way a deal, not only is this the everyday price for this company, every other company in my area offers the same price, give or take a few dollars. So are you really getting a deal from livingsocial? Maybe, maybe not. Just be careful and shop around before you purchase one of their so called deal coupons.
no complaints here
I got a great deal on a jewelry making class from living social. I saved over 50% on the normal rate, and had a great experience. That was my second living social purchase, and both were just fine.
Livingsocial - Qualite.co.uk
I recently purchased a2 vouchers from Livingsocial for some toy lights from a company called Qualite.co.uk. The Vouchers were for £11.00 for the toys, when I want on the Qualite website to order the items I was charged £14.50 each for them + £3.98 postage so in total cost was £32.98 for items that should have cost £22.00.
I emailed Livingsocial customer complaints email they have not come back to me after the initial acknowledgement email.
I emailed Qualite and asked to cancel the order and was ignored and they posted the toy lights and so for me get my money back I will be spending more money on postage. This company are crooks and no one should order anything from them.
Customer Service stinks. LS cannot be trusted to help resolve issues
Whatever the lowest rating, go one lower, that would be my choice. Living Social cannot be trusted to ensure customer satisfaction. Customer Service is a misnomer - should be called Customer Abandonment. I have bought through Groupon, Restaurant.com, eBay and others... excellent experience with those. Living Social -pure hell. Back and forth - the vendor says go to LS to get resolved; LS says to deal with the vendor. I cancelled an item before shipment. No response from vendor. The item was sent anyway. I demanded my money back - no such luck, they just ignore you. Worst experience with any company online. AWFUL.
4 different recommendations to resolve the problem and none worked!
I was given a Living Social coupon as a gift. I tried to use it 2 weeks before its expiration date and the shop wouldn't honor it because they had no more open appointments. Living Social was impossible to get help from. I had 4 long phone calls, after getting disconnected from the first. Each person on the phone gave me different information on how to resolve the issue of getting credit for my gift. I wound up having to contact the gift-giver 3 times, following the advice I'd gotten from Living Social. It was frustrating, disconcerting, and disappointing. I have unsubscribed and recommend you do the same! [edit review]
avoid
Brought a voucher. Opened it 3 days to be told it already expired. No help or support avoid at all costs. Was told it was my fault and nothing to do with them. No acknowledgement of the unreasonable expiration date. Avoid awful customer service
Don't do it
Got sold a deal for a festival and should have known not to buy it seeings the festivals website wasn't even up yet but I did anyway my bad. The deal described and what you actually got were so far apart that i complained to living social and was told that they could not do anything and that is my fault for buying the voucher before the website was up No it's y our fault for selling a voucher before the website was up I wouldn't have bought it if I'd known it wasn't truly all you can eat and that I had to be there at certain times which you did not state instead you told me on the phone that i should have been there early well it opened at 11 and food was not served til twelve thirty so being there early didn't help now did it Use Amazon Local Deals or groupon they've always helped me with any problems this company won't deal with you
