Horrible company
Horrible company. I spoke with the reps before deciding to port over my business number. Ported the number. Port was complete and I had to register the SMS and submit a campaign for approval. Everything was approved in a few days but I could still not send or receive text messages. Spent the next 2 1/2 weeks trying to work it out after being told it was nothing on my end and was something on the back end of grasshopper. Everyday was the same thing. I call, I sit on hold, for 20 - 40 minutes to be told that it has to be handled by a different department but will be fixed the next day. The next day I receive an email saying it is all fixed. It was not. I immediately call. And the process continues. I did this for a full 2+ weeks until finally I had to cancel the service and get an entirely new number with a different carrier. Then they refused to provide a refund and the day I cancelled and confirmed it was cancelled they charged me another 33.00. They refuse to give any portion of a refund because its not their policy. This doesnt even include the costs to get new business cards, new truck decals, new shirts and all our marketing and contacting all our clients to switch numbers. When talking to customer service they literally said we will not be dealing with us its not our policy. Worst customer service I have ever dealt with especially because multiple reps told me it was nothing on my end, but there end. I paid for a service they couldnt provide and they refused to refund me the total of $55.00+ they charged me in fees.

They canceled my phone line without…
They canceled my phone line without even notification and when I called thinking it must have been a mistake,they said they couldn't tell me why.
No supervisors were available to help me at all.
This is AFTER I already deployed the phone number on my website all my pages and Google. I paid for a year and did almost the work jumped through the hoops to get verified and registered and then this less than 2 weeks after purchasing.
Do yourself a favor and get a different service.

Horrible customer service
Absolutely horrible customer service, not willing to take accountability for fixing their services . . paid for two months and was unable to use the service due to the unprofessional make up on the account . . . billing charges were unacceptable and not what i signed up for, I was told caller id was able to be updated but everytime i called a customer it said "Grasshopper" on caller id instead of my business name which I requested to be changed three times . . . really horrible customer service

Billing practices
They just charged my card over $400 for an annual subscription that was canceled a while ago. I called them to get a refund, but they refused stating that I have to pay for the WHOLE year!!!!
Here is the body of the email:
"I hope all is well. I have an update regarding your refund request. My supervisor advised that, as outlined in our Terms and Conditions, all sales are final and we are unable to process the requested refund.
We would also like to confirm that the auto-renewal for your subscription has been successfully deactivated, and your access will remain active until 11/5/2026.
For further clarification, here is the specific section from our Terms and Conditions that addresses our refund policy:
2.2. Fees and Payment. "You agree to pay all applicable, undisputed fees for the Services on the terms set forth in this Agreement or your invoice. Except as set forth in Section 3.3 below or in the Service Descriptions, any and all payments you make to us for access to the Services are final and non-refundable."

Not intuitive, terrible service, long wait times.
I found this service to be complicated. It is complex, clunky, and not at all intuitive to set up or adjust - these days there are far more intuitive apps out there that do the same things.
Next, it is next to impossible to cancel this service. You can not do it yourself. You are told to contact them by email. I contacted them requesting to cancel my account. Instead of canceling it, they emailed me. This was filtered out into my update folder and I did not see it. In a mere 7 days, they canceled the ticket and did not cancel the account.
4 months later I see I am still paying for the account. I follow up searching my inbox for emails and see that they tried to contact me for one week. I see a note in the email to contact them so they can (and I quote) 'quickly' assist me.
I wait 30 minutes on hold. I speak to someone who insists she needs the credit card I have on file. She directs me to the "settings" so I can see for myself. The directions are inaccurate. They do not take me where she says they will. She emails me a link which also does not take me where she thinks it will.
She tells me she can not cancel it without the card number. I ask her why is that - you have the card number. I do not have that with me and I want to get this done now and not wait another 30 min on hold; she lets me know she will have to have that to go on. I state that I am not hanging up until she resolves this and cancels the account. She admits she can use the PIN number and asks if I have that. I have that so I give it to her and she cancels the account (so they do not need the credit card after all).
Throughout the call, even though I have made it very clear that I am unhappy that they did not cancel the account already, she proceeds repeatedly through a script where she asks me if I want a better price, want to keep the number for family use, she hopes I will come back to use their services in the future.
All that to say, Grasshopper operates like a large sluggish robotic corporation. You are a number; they do not actually care that you received the service for 4 months and were paying for something you were not using. "Sorry, we do not offer refunds. That is against our policy"
Staff just follow a script and do not think for themselves.
I advise researching better alternatives - and checking Trust Pilot before making a decision. I sure wish I had done so myself.
NOTE:
I see later that the company responded with a "sorry..." and we are "working to improve".. They did not contact me to offer any kind of refund or apology.

Hard to cancel
Fine service. Terribly difficult to cancel. Watch out. Auto renews, there is no way to cancel online, and there is no refund.
Once I finally tried to turn off the service, I had to waste an HOUR of time. They make it hard to take your money.

A few weeks ago, I signed up for Grasshopper’s 7-day trial before deciding whether to port my phone number from Google Voice to Grasshopper. However, since I wanted to try out some similar services such as OpenPhone and Voiply, I didn’t renew or extend the Grasshopper trial.
A few weeks later, I decided to actually port my business phone number from Google Voice to Grasshopper and sign up for a paid plan.
I tried logging back into the account I had used for the Grasshopper trial a few weeks earlier and was notified that the account had been locked. I called Grasshopper support, and the representative told me that I needed to register a new account. I agreed, but when I tried to sign up again, I couldn’t because my email address had already been used. Later, Grasshopper support helped delete my email address associated with the old locked account so that I could reuse it.
But then, at the final step before submitting to create the new account and pay, I ran into an error. I was transferred to a Grasshopper support manager. After checking and discussing with the support team, he told me that I was forced to use a different email address in order to use Grasshopper.
Why is it that a user who signed up for a trial, chose not to renew after the trial period, and later decides to subscribe officially, is being forced to use a different email address…?
After that, I decided to switch to using OpenPhone. Grasshopper lost a potential customer—me—just because of a trivial error.

Beware Grasshopper Scams You!!
Yes been with Grasshopper for a few years. My renewal is October2025. This time my other cellular company offered a free phone and could port business number over. I called Grasshopper to schedule cancellation. Few days later i changed mind and decided to stay and see if $204/yr plus tx, was still available. Im at $330/yr. Creepy guy gets on phone and says that is my discounted price, and that i paid $463.16 last January 2025. Next person said i dont see that high payment! What was that for??! Pls refund. They said sorry not srry that was in January. The rep said he would send it to billing dept for inquiry?! Ive logged into bank/statement online and saw charge. They have fraudulently charged someone else acct on my credit card! The bank also referred me ro the online criminal website to submit complaint. Will do that too. Buyer beware!! They will randomly charge your debit card whenever they like.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM
I had one of the most frustrating experiences with this company. I spoke with a representative named Michelle, who struggled to understand simple yes-or-no questions. Instead of resolving the issue, the call became longer, more stressful, and nothing was fixed.
I was denied the right to speak with a supervisor or manager, even after multiple requests. The rep failed to provide a refund for a billing mistake that was caused by the company, and instead offered only a $3 credit on my next bill — even though the monthly bill is $37. That is absolutely unacceptable.
On top of that, I’ve been unable to access my account since early October, through no fault of my own, and I was charged for a second number that I never requested.
The lack of accountability, the refusal to escalate to someone who could help, and the overall customer service experience has left me extremely disappointed. I would not recommend this company based on what I’ve experienced.
