I’ve reviewed your order, and it looks like we’ve supplied the door exactly as agreed. I see that you’re currently in touch with our support team regarding the colour of the frame, the hardware, and the glass on your order.
We really want to make sure our customers are confident in their decisions, especially with something as important as home improvement. That’s why we send an email with a detailed quote, including a CAD image and all the specifications. We also provide an order confirmation once you’ve placed your order, with all the details laid out clearly.
Since you’ve chosen our installation service, we make sure to provide a full specification of the door when the installation team surveys the site. At that point, we ask you to review and approve the survey, which I can see you did.
We’ve provided several opportunities along the way for you to double-check your door specifications and let us know if anything needed adjusting before it was manufactured. Now that your door has been installed according to the agreed-upon details, we consider the job complete.
I see that my team is already in touch with you about offering replacement parts at a discounted rate to try support you and ensure you love your new door!
Once again I'm sorry the door has not met your expectations but we will support you in whatever way we can.

Smart aluminium composite doors
We purchased 2 new Smart aluminium composite doors at a cost of £5k last June (2024), to replace 2 uPVC doors.
The specifications of the doors appeared to be very good so we placed an order. Martindales installed the doors and made a good job (I added a positive review for their installers). I noticed virtually straight away that the doors were not as soundproof as the previous one’s, you can clearly hear someone walking on a gravel path outside as if there’s no door, with the doors closed, however it wasn’t until winter that we noticed a bigger problem with how drafty the doors were. My wife took a video and shared it with GFD to show paper blowing in the wind with the doors closed and locked. We called GFD to chase a response and Martindales came out, after making adjustments the fitter said there’s nothing they can do, as it’s a design fault. GFD’s response was they never sold a windtight door so we’re left with an inferior product that lets in a cold stream of air, that are far worse than the old doors and now we are out of pocket for a sub-standard product and increased heating bills. Poor show all round from GFD. After the last refusal by GFD to do anything we are taking legal advice against GFD and seeking further advice to challenge the manufacturer, as freely blowing draft fails to meet the claimed standards in my simplistic view.
I would strongly advise anyone to avoid the product and GFD, neither are worth the gamble.

I'm sorry to hear you are not satisfied with the doors you purchased through GFD Homes.
Our priority is providing customers with the best service possible and we will always aim to address manufacturing issues head on.
I can see our installers have attended the doors twice, once in August 2024 and once in December 2024 on both occasions, no faults could be found with the doors however adjustments were made to ensure the doors were pulled as tight as possible to the gasket to reduce draughts.
I appreciate you are still not happy with the amount of draught you are experiencing with your door therefore I have sent this over to the manufacturer to understand their stance and if they have any recommendations to improve this for you.
If you could please allow a few days to gather some more feedback we will be in touch with you direct.

Great price, amazing service, quality product!
I found this company online as looking for a Solidor front door. The price was nearly 50% lower than our local window and door company for exactly the same product. The low survey fee convinced me to proceed. The surveyor turned up on time, gave me some advice and was really professional. The company kept me updated and installed early. Again the installers where really friendly and professional. As a property developer, I can see they were experienced and completed the job to a high standard. I would highly recommend this company.

GFD Homes themselves have been good
GFD Homes themselves have been good. Very responsive & helpful.
The issues have been with their installers, Martindales.
Door interior frame damaged on install. Hole left in plaster, mastic all over floor. Glue over walls, hand prints everywhere. dig out of skirting board, quarter inch gap left under door. Weather strip between door & frame not sealed at the top, Supplied with incorrect lock & replacement fitted difficult to open.
No care taken & a terrible job.

GDF Homes is fantastic
GDF Homes is fantastic.
Internet based but don't let that worry you.
I should have used these first for my Solidor after a local company let us down badly and wasted us so much time.
As it's a Solidor it's the same product but with GDF doing all the running around for you.
I cannot fault any step in the process, special thanks to Nick Curwen for helping with all his advice (along with facilitating my specific order of different colour handles and letterbox on the out/inside!!) Very knowledgeable, professional and polite.
Communication was second to none, along with their liaising with Martindale's was super fast, with emails sent immediately to arrange everything (surveying and fitting).
Just had my lovely (the wife is very very happy indeed!!) composite double front doors fitted, 3 weeks from initial order!!! Surveyor and fitters were on time, very polite and professional, we had excellent communication all the way through with courtesy emails and phone call's along the way.
Thanks to Jordon Gamble for emailing me back so quickly with all my (pedantic!!!) queries, everything was perfect.
So massive thanks to Nick, Jordon and the team and all the team at Martindale's. We can't thank you all enough. If I could give more stars, I would!!!!

Do not go anywhere near this company. Ordered some patio doors in early Dec via my builder, we are now in January and they still don't have a delivery date. Chased several times in January. Poor response times. Asked for a refund and quoting 7 to 10 days. Absolutely shocking service

I'm sorry to hear about your experience, as we have no order number and you didn't place the order I am struggling to find any details to respond appropriately.
I've checked our records and we have no outstanding patios from December that have not had a delivery date provided.
At this stage, we would not be able to cancel an order. If the order was placed in December it would already have been in production for 2 months and unable to be cancelled, I wonder if there has been some confusion.
If you could please ask your builder who is the named account holder to get in touch with us please so we address any concerns and ensure we understand the issues fully you have faced it would be much appreciated.

Terrible service.
Misled on delivery times.
Half the order did not arrive.
The door was not made as per my request due to a breakdown in communication and poor design of the booking process.
When I made a complaint I was not offered any sort of apology for the poor service and errors and told I will need to buy a new door.
I have delayed my building works twice and still not got my door.
Shocking.
