WORST mistake of my life - big waste of time
I ordered this PC from Digital Storm on April,12 2022. I am experiencing multiple issues with the new PC that have wasted 100s of hours of my time and energy. I wasn't expecting this many issues since this is a new build and Digital Storm supposedly "rigorously tests the products" before sending them to customer. The only reason I decided to pay a premium and have a trusted company build me a PC is to save my time and have an issue-free product. This has been the complete opposite.
1) Liquid cooling for the most integral part of the PC (the CPU) has faulty connections and periodically drips down coolant on the Graphics card and other components typically right at boot up of system. Turned off system and consulted with digital storm customer service team immediately and followed the instructed directions but the issue persisted 3 days later. Initial email to customer service on May 25, 2022: "ORDER#186444 I noticed that the Liquid coolant is leaking around the hose adapter and onto the GPU, Please advise on how to fix this as this is a brand new PC and I don't want any components to be damaged. Video and a pictures of where the liquid is dripping are attached. Best, Pola". Agent advised me to disconnect hoses and re-tighten all bearings. Issue was fixed temporarily.
2) PC stuck booting up automatically to ASUS BIOS screen. Issue first experienced on 05/30/2022. Spent 7 hours researching and troubleshooting the issue. Large amounts of the liquid coolant were found inside and on the Graphics Card as well as the motherboard. The bios boot up issue is a hardware issue and was caused by the leaking liquid coolant dripping on the components.
3) Faulty software/Hardware that causes system instability. Initial email to digital Storm on May 27,2022: "ORDER#186444 Can’t install programs due to error that occurs when updating apps from Microsoft store, downloading apps from Microsoft store or downloading apps from the web. “Something unexpected happened” is the error message I received. I have been getting this error message ever since I initially booted up the computer. I searched the web for hours on how to fix it and no working solution was found. I factory reset the PC multiple times and logged in with a Microsoft account and also tried logging in with a local account. Still getting errors. There seems to be some corruption somewhere in the hardware or software. Also CPU fans are always running loud without any load on the computer whatsoever. All background applications are closed. Digital storm had there phone line closed for 3 days now and I can’t reach a representative. Best, Pola". Customer Service Agent remote connected to the machine for a couple of hours and couldn't find a solution and advised that it might be a hardware issue and that I should recede the SSD. Agent also advised me to perform a hard wipe of the drive through the BIOS and an external USB drive which is a very time consuming process that I have been through multiple times within the span of 10 days.
4) Constant loud CPU fans. This build is advertised as the quietest system. The fans are constantly running at a medium-high RPM even under 0 load and no background applications running. Manually setting the fans to the lowest RPM is still loud.
5) PC was shipped late. It was supposed to ship 14-21 days after ordering. Digital Storm shipped it 32 days after the order date and it was delivered 39 days after the order date.
6) Accessories not delivered nor shipped. My ordered headsets were supposed to be delivered "they may arrive 1-3 days before or 1-3 days after the delivery of your system." according to Digital Storm. The Headsets haven't even been shipped and it has been 10 days since I received the System and 51 days since the order date.
7) Mediocre build at best for a premium price. Light strip ends midway through the PC case and controller is limited and very old. Cable management is very messy and not all premium white cables as promised. Case smudges frequently.
8) performance and benchmarking are lower than expected for a build like this. Experiencing delays and unresponsiveness with multiple tabs or applications open. I expected this PC to handle a heavy work load with no lag or latency but that is not the case. Benchmark tests provide a lower than average score and FPS. Internet speed is 500 mbps and is hard wired using ethernet Cat 8 cable.
I have been in contact with Digital Storm customer service team many times to get advice on fixing these issues as they occurred. Help received was not great and the issues were left unfixed or temporarily fixed.
There are 9 attachments below that contain Pictures and Videos of problems
1) I need replacement O-Rings, bearings, fasteners, connectors, washers and coolant for the Liquid cooling system so I can fix it.
Computer Arrived Less than Useless, No Real Customer Service Now, Over $2000 to Repair
I purchased a new PC several years ago. I had a severe stroke and was not able to even get it out of the box until after the warranty expired. Last year, after following instructions and setting the PC up, I never had a signal to any display device. I contacted support and through a series of emails and phone calls, I was guided through the steps to remove the graphics card, and then install it in an open upper slot. After installing it as instructed, I was told to remove it and an RMA would be issued. As I attempted to uninstall, it was in a card release configuration, and when it pulled from the motherboard the wires on the motherboard stripped out, needing a new motherboard. One would have had to take the motherboard out to remove the card. I sent the damaged card back end of October 2021, and have not heard from MSI to date. When I check the RMA and Serial number for an update on the card, I receive an error from their website. I paid a large amount of money for this system, it hasn't worked since day 1, MSI never responded to my return, and your support member had me destroy the motherboard. I really don't know where to go now to get this resolved, and I'm so disappointed I have a high dollar nonworking PC. Please advise. I can't imagine spending another $2000 or so on replacing parts, then paying someone to complete the build. JD
Will Not Honor Warranty!
Purchased a cutting edge laptop from what i thought was a reputable company. Laptop stopped working. tried to get a ""technician" to call me 3 times, no call! I called again and finally was able to order a power supply (without technician review as they apparently were not available) however the problem persists and requires technical inspection. Called again for "warranty" work as it's still under Warranty until November '22 and was told they cannot honor the warranty as they cannot service the system and they "cannot get parts". The guy thought it was pretty funny too, good attitude! So if you buy a system from Digital Storm, they will not honor the warranty for whatever reason they want to tell you!!! BUYER BEWARE!!! In Fact they will not even inspect the system to verify whats wrong! I was told to seek out a repair shop as it's "MOST LIKELY MY FAULT THE POWER CONNECTOR IS DAMAGED"! Told by Digital Storm Technician it's Most likely My Fault without an inspection. I now have a $2500 door stop!
I have a hard time reading these…
I have a hard time reading these reviews because I have honestly had the best possible experience with these guys. Always available and always knowledgeable, I have called several times. I ordered a computer valued at 6.5k and am grateful I did. These guys have fulfilled on every promise made.
Complete and utter disaster
Complete and utter disaster. We ordered a PC beginning of March, waited 3+ months patiently for the PC to come in. When it finally came in, it had non stop blue screens happening out of the box. We then sent it back to have them attempt to fix it, turns out the brand new motherboard needed to be replaced. Once they did that (took weeks) it was then sent back to us. Once again once received, we started having blue screens all over again.
At this point, I was done. I asked for a refund, which was denied, and we were offered a option to have a “restocking fee” and the rest would then be refunded. That was originally at $750+ restocking fee. Read that again.. a fee, for a PC, that doesn’t even function properly. This company runs off pure greed and money, they could care less and will give you the runaround over and over. Just read some of the nightmare stories out there.
We ended up doing a charge back on our card from SEVEN MONTHS prior to get all our money back on this flawed product. The cardholder sided with us after giving them all the email exchanges and problems we had. Again, this is a 3-4k build and at the end of the day, and it didn’t work right at all. They DO NOT stand behind their product what so ever. I highly advise you to go with another company or build your own rig. This was seriously the worst experience of a company I’ve ever dealt with and I never even do reviews, but I had to share this one.
Do yourself a favor if you don’t want your money to go to waste, look elsewhere please!
Over 3K Velox designed PC plagued with…
Over 3K Velox designed PC plagued with bootup and operating issues was sent back to DS only to be received back with the same initial issues reported plus new ones, all this after a month of it being in they're hands for repair! Less than stellar experience with the technician assigned to deal with the PC issues over the phone, the tech pretty much through the guidance of his superior was recommending I service the PC to rectify issues by disconnecting and reconnecting various components... once again an over 3K PC! I will never have dealings with DS again and caution anyone else to look before you leap onto that grenade.
12/19/2021 - Update:
I received back after a second RMA from DS a unit plagued with the same operational issues reported to them in the beginning. I was told by a DS service manager that my unit had been thoroughly inspected by the service technician assigned and that no discovery was made of the operating defects I reported, I had to record and send them video footage of the problem to finally be believed... as the customer I had to convince them of the legitimacy for my claims over this 2nd time now RMA product that they had stated was repaired. The service manager assigned a tech to me finally that remotely navigated my PC and made claims that the operating system along with the internal solid state hdd was showing signs of failure and needed replacement, so I went out and purchased a new HDD and installed it only to find out through a different tech that it wasn't the operating system or the HDD that was causing the problem but some unknown. Over 3K to play tech with a product I purchased from highly reputable company. I'm more angry with myself for having brought anything from them, I was lied too about they're reputation for building excellent products... thoroughly deceived!
12/27/2021 - Update:
The PC now experiences random crashes during normal operating usages, nothing taxing the CPU or GPU in the slightest. DS has been of no assistance in this regard, complete radio silence. If you have any sense stay away from this trash company of con-artist technicians working from home while swapping used parts from one PC to another while claiming everything is newly built.
Digital Storm customer service
I bought a DS system 1 1/2 years ago. One day it just stopped working. That was a month ago. I have sent them the system and they have not yet looked at it, and they won't tell me when they expect to look at it. It needs either a new power supply or new switch is what they thought so I figured let them handle it. Wish I knew they were so slooow and unresponsive. In that case I would've looked for a closer to home solution,.
If the problem is that they don't have enough help for the amount of business, then this type of behavior is going to fix that pretty quickly imho.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Follow up. It is now 7/28/21, two weeks later. I am still waiting to hear that Digital Storm has shipped my computer back to me. I can't understand why this is happening, maybe I did something really bad in the past that I am being punished for. This is terribly ridiculous, and calling, emailing, asking for a supervisor etc.. is all pretty useless.
BUYER BEWARE!
BUYER BEWARE!
They may make quality equipment, but their ability to communicate and keep their commitments is among the worst I have ever experienced.
I ordered a build in February, updates of the build only came after I pursued support tickets each time. The initial turn around time was 30 days.
After dropping the ball 3 times over the next 3 months the build arrives the last week of June. My need for this build has been superceded by my outsourcing the work needed to a local media company. I no longer need this machine. I never even opened the box.
These guys are literally forcing me to pay a $689 restocking fee.
BUYER BEWARE!
These guys do not play fair, nor do they live up to their end of the bargain!
I ordered a new PC during COVID & 100%…
I ordered a new PC during COVID & 100% understand the delay in semiconductors, gfx cards etc...
However - the company repeatedly avoided communicating anything - when I called and "finally" got to someone, told me "it's shipping next week" - and then it was 2 months later... that frustrated me.
What was truly the bad part, and why I would not recommend DS, is that I received my $4000 PC damaged & with a DOA monitor.
1. They refuse to acknowledge the damage on the case
2. Will not send me a replacement monitor until they receive mine (I sent it, using their label, which is the cheapest and slowest FedEx method possible) so they can process a warranty claim.
Causing a customer to go without a product that I paid for because they are processing warranty is absurd - you sold me a bad product, replace it and deal with your supplier.
100% unprofessional, and and would never order from them again or recommend them
I have a new DigitalStorm game…
I have a new DigitalStorm game computer. It has one problem that I am aware to exist. My Bluetooth does not function. I did several attempts with there Software Tech. I have to say the Tech was great, however, with his wisdom and box of tools the problem still exist, " No Functional Bluetooth. I wrote several messages asking for help. The Tech believes it to be an hardware problem. He said, contact the manufacture for the Bluetooth Device or buy a replacement. What is this a brand new computer that is not 100% operational. I thought this company with all the great reviews would have been awesome. DigitalStorm what will you do? I seriously doubt they will. My advice buy elsewhere.
poor customer service, poor building quality, solid technical support team
I order a custom built computer ($4000+) from Digital Storm as am switching from Mac. I am a tech savvy guy but unfamiliar with PC configuration and figured it would be best to get it done right by professionals, and the performance testing provided would be great reassurance on a work computer.
I received a computer a week after it was supposed to be delivered, (took 7 weeks, and delivery was estimate (4-6 weeks) with a bent motherboard, screws forced into places they should not have been put to the point I needed pliers to removed them, a broken GPU port and a number of lose part floating around inside. I was told I would have to send it back to be fixed (additional 2-3 weeks) or I would have to pay shipping to return the computer. Being a work computer I couldn't afford another 3 weeks without it. These were the only options presented.
I researched other options for a couple days, then called customer support who said "why didn't we just send you the parts and we can walk you through repairing it yourself"... this was not an option the first time I talked to to customer support. After receiving new parts, another 5 days later, I started rebuilding with the help of technical support.
The technical support team was very patient and knowledgable, and the reason I give them at least a star.
In the end, I ended up building the computer from scratch. After errors on there end in shipping, build quality, and problem solving this fiasco I was offered just an extra 1 month of warranty. No refund on the cost of labor that was awfully done, no refund on the quality testing I ended up not getting, and no refund for the damaged threads from jamming screenings into random places in the case.
Highly recommend looking elsewhere.
Side note: They do not have any customer service that operates on EST, east coast US time zones, which is a huge pain when you run into over night issues and have to wait until noon the next day, in middle of your work day to get you machine up and running again.
best pc´s ever
Buyer beware
Buyer beware. We purchased a low level PC for our son, and didn’t read their return policy well. The PC would not generate any sound, so we returned it. They are keeping $200 for a restocking fee, and we’ve been waiting 3 weeks to receive our return. We also lost out on both the original and return shipping fees. The weakest customer service I’ve ever experienced, this has been a study in frustration. Save yourself the pain and purchase from somewhere else.
amazing if you have grandkids
amazing if you have grand kids definetly get the lynx level 2
The pcs are built well but have no common sense the most expensive pc had a reverse motherboard so when using an AIO it is nearly impossible to fit a new rtx 30 series card and I couldnt fit in my rtx 3090 I just bought even though they said the pc would be upgradable. Their only solution would be to send it back to pay shipping and handling to get a new case. This company who builds pcs for years has no common sense on how to build a correct pc. Do not buy
Great Experience
I got the digital storm Lynx level 3 and it a great custom build pc and the performance is very good and the spec inside the pc was great for the deal also they have a great customer service team but just if they can work on building the pc faster because had to wait a month for them to assemble the pc and ship it.
2 Months for a Dud
They took a month and a half to build the computer. It finally arrived, and they put in the wrong version of the motherboard, without onboard WiFi, and the power supply had a large dent in it. I immediately packed it up and shipped it back. It took a full month just to replace the power supply and motherboard and send it back! They didn't bother swapping out the instruction booklet for the motherboard even. It worked for one evening. The next morning I try to start it, and it won't even power on! Additionally, some of the components, such as the Ram came marked up, as if they had been used prior, or they were just sloppy and scratched them up during installation.
Definitely do not order from these guys!
Why do I like them?
I've had a great experience with digital storm I got a Bolt X with an AMD 3900x, Geforce 1660 TI, with water cooling. I don't know what happened to all the good reviews or why Trustpilot decided to remove them. But I'm telling you now this is a good company their amazing with computer construction I'm a confirmed buyer and I approve digital storm and recommend it.
Buyer Beware!
I recently made a purchase from DS. It took over 40 days for my order to arrive to me. When I contacted them and ask them for a status update I was given a copy and paste reply telling me that I agreed to this long turn around time... I never agreed to anything. I purchased a product/s from you. I agreed to nothing.
Finally I got my order. The second I pressed the power button the fans started grinding and making horrible noise. LOUD GRINDY fans fresh out of the box. This is a sign of a faulty fan. How did this ever pass their quality check they claim to have?
I actually know quite a bit about computer's. I have built my own more than once. I am very busy lately with my career and personal life, so I elected to have DS do the work for me...I figured well let me go in and fix/ disable these fans. I did so.... I wish that was as bad as it got but it was not.
As I dug into the machine I found stripped screws, some manhandled on while their counterpart was so loose I could unscrew it by hand! Some of the computer's parts were uneven, as in not fitted on properly. Chasis fan was wobbly and shocker grindy. It was there own cheap fan with their stupid logo on it... Charging customer above full price for a fan because you want to be cool and stamp a logo on a cheap one! Shame on you.
Also had issues where the GPU was running HOT out of the BOX. Well break the equipment out of the toolbox...and behold! There was voltage issue it was not properly installed / poor connection to the power supply! I ended up pulling the entire product/s apart and no joke rebuilding them on the spot. FRESH OUT OF THE BOX. How's that for customer service? Once I built them properly they worked just find everything within acceptable range...and quietly running.
When we pay for something like this...we pay a mark up in price to account for the labor. I Had to do my own labor. I spent over 2 weeks talking to them about this. They forwarded me to some one...Then forwarded me again. I laid it all out for them and then never heard back. I told them flat out I want the cost of labor refunded to me or I am going to the BBB. Been a week as of today and not a word back from them.
Everyone I talk to now knows not to throw their money away on a DS purchase. They clearly hire off the street and have zero idea what they are doing. A first time builder can do a better job constructing a computer than what I was given. Thousand's of $'s wasted! Do not buy from them. I am personally hoping they go out of business and loose everything they have gained by ripping off hard working people like myself and the other's on this website.
There was more wrong with my order as well...but sadly I am limited on time. To be frank I am sick and tired of dealing with DS and it is clear they are a take the money and run type of company. AVOID.
It took over a month for my computer to…
It took over a month for my computer to arrive. When it finally did, it was damaged and had issues. When I reached out to support I was told that they are basically too busy to help. I had to fix it myself. A manager got in touch with me and said he would look into it but never bothered calling me back. I will never return as a customer, nor will I ever recommend a product from Digital Storm - not even my worst enemy.
