Early days but initial contact went well. So far so good

Consumers need to be made aware that you will get quotations from firms that are known to be problematic and sadly this has been my experience. One of the firms is notorious for not replying to emails and calls and taking an inordinate amount of time, but they are still used by conveyancing index. (I obviously didn't know this at the time). I referred the failings to conveyancing index and to be honest they weren't interested. The quote I had was for a fixed price of £872 for the sale part of a neighbours garden land. 2.5 months in and the company are not responding, not returning calls and unnerving the seller by retaining title deeds. Then a trainee solicitor advised that following a review of the file the fees would be revised to £1200 + vat. Then 10 days later another review by another trainee and on top of the £872 they would now apply £950 plus vat, more than doubling the quote. By the way this is for transferring a piece of garden land 3m x 4m no searches etc!! I am referring the firm to the regulatory body, but having liaised with Tracy Mulchay of Conveyancing Index she was not interested and they continue to recommend this firm. I've since got a Solicitor in the high street of an expensive part of the south east to give me a fixed price for much less. Save your money hire the professionals, you really don't know what you are getting for your money and there is no recourse. It's a shame as the principle of getting comparision quotes is great but when you need things doing properly you are left out on a limb... Beware!

what a scam - I asked a quote for a land purchase. I got flooded with so many phone calls. I instructed the solicitor through them and it costed me £200 to have this service via them. Then after 2 weeks lender tells me that the solicitor i chosen is not part of panel. I wasted 2 weeks and did bunch of paper work for the solicitor to find out this. Also I had to find out this myself convayance index was certain the solicitor they recommended can provide the service. I’m still waiting for my refund ? I will
