I can't recommend Tom McLaren-Robert’s from Conveyancing Direct highly enough. From the very beginning, he made what could have been a stressful conveyancing process feel straightforward and manageable. He was always quick to respond, kept me updated every step of the way, and explained everything clearly whenever I had questions.

1 star is way too many in my opinion for this shambles. We agreed on an offer on our house on 22 Jan, and we have been waiting for a date for the last month. Everyone in the chain is ready, all paperwork completed and signed. We were supposed to exchange contracts last week, and nothing has happened. Paul Baldwin-Jones is our case worker. Sorry, I cannot call him a solicitor because, quite frankly, he is useless. We have since been informed that this company does not have trained solicitors but law students or apprentices. And the reason they are often referred to clients by Estate Agents is because of the handout. Which is on top of the 3600 we are already paying them. I wish, when they were recommended, I had looked at the reviews because I would not have chosen them. When we bought our home 28 years ago, we had a little one-man band solicitor in a dark panelled room with dark wonky floors and an old desk up in the corner. He was older than Methuselah, but you could talk to him. He had a lady in the front office typing letters and using a corded phone. Bring back the old days. I do not like doing something as important as buying and selling a house through a dot-com company. Paul Baldwin Jones does not answer emails; he doesn't even acknowledge that he has received vital paperwork that he has requested. If you phone him, he doesn't answer the phone, he won't even speak with our agents, now both the buying and selling ones. I spoke to someone in his office, and she didn't have a clue and was less than helpful. I wish I could go elsewhere, but we cannot change our solicitor at this stage without disrupting the whole chain. So, if you are considering using them, heed my advice: DON'T. Not unless you want stress, hassles like you can't even imagine, to be ignored completely and disregarded as a human being. My dad has a saying, " A man who buys cheap fish smells what he saves when he cooks it", that could not be more true. It is worth paying a little extra to get a dusty little man in a dusty little office taking calls on a corded phone with a matronly receptionist, come secretary with a typewriter. Moving house is one of the most stressful things you can do, alongside delivering bread (Dinnerladies quote). I have found most of it easy until I had to deal with the firm. Unless you like enjoy pain and heartache, save yourselves and go to someone in your local area who you can call or visit and get answers.

Within this company we had Tom as our solicitor for our house move. Tom was absolutely amazing, he kept us updated regularly and really helped us in the more difficult questions we received. We didn't have easy solicitors on the side of the party who purchased our house but Tom pushed them all the way until everything was finalised. We also dealt with Dominique one day while Tom was off and she also was so helpful calling and emailing us on several occasions that day to help push the exchange through definitely recommend

Do not use this company. House sale completed on Tuesday 30th of June, no chain, no mortgage so, what should have been a very simple completion day.
As of today Friday the 3rd of July we still have not received our money. The buyers have the keys to the property I sold yet my bank has not received the payment.

Conveyancing direct finance team sent the payment to my bank in the incorrect format. (Slipped up on the phone and said this has happened before, yet did not learn from their mistake).
I have been told I have to wait for the money to bounce back to their account and then they will re-send, but they wouldn't give me a timescale to rectify this.

We are now on day 4 with no funds received. We are not talking about a small amount here, this company has mishandled over £100,000.00 of my money. An apology and acknowledgement of my frustration is not enough.

Don't trust them and definitely don't let them handle your money.

Carwyn Harris is an absolute asset to the company. During the sale of my home, he provided friendly, efficient, and compassionate support to me and my family whilst we navigated a very stressful time. Carwyn was responsive to emails and calls and went out of his way to help me understand the terminologies that were being used, to demystify and uncomplicate the process. Carwyn was not the only person from CDPL, Gemma Nash was also fantastic and the whole customer focused approach was really appreciated. I didn't chose CDPL as my solicitors, but if I ever moved again I would chose them in a heartbeat.

Our solicitor Haroon Mohammed was very eagle eyed during the whole process ensuring nothing was missed out especially during enquiries. Haroon was always calling up to ensure we were kept in the loop even if there was nothing to report he would put our mind at ease by calling us to let us know what it is that we’re waiting on. Very happy with the service and would definitely reccomend.
