Nick has completely changed my experience for the better

The hypnotherapy class is good. The class covered a variety of topics and was extremely practical.

The course and the tutor (Andrew Brown) has been very consistent and supportive.
The course resources might need updating.
Also - the access to course resources only when assignment is submitted can be frustrating and unhelpful when extension is requested. Maybe access should be granted a week before the next lesson regardless of submission being made.

Chrysalis stepped in when our previous course combusted. We were treated kindly and sympathetically. Without Rhianan and Chrysalis as a whole, we would never have been able to complete our studies, and gain our qualifications!

Low rent
I would describe this organisation as “low rent”. Many of the good tutors have left. The good ones remaining are outnumbered by those whose experience is lacking. The “management” defensively hides behind inadequate, unjust processes.
Essentially, Chrysalis Courses is the training arm for the NCPS. Board members sit across both organisations, and a greater gap between the two should be created for impartiality, fairness and objectivity.

I am sorry to hear that you feel this way about Chrysalis. I would like to invite you to contact Student Support to talk through any concerns you may have and we will be more than happy to try and help.
Chrysalis tutors are professional counsellors, and we have a thorough recruitment process when it comes to working with new tutors. We have nearly 100 different tutors based around the country, each is required to attend the same annual training events, are assessed using the same criteria and all new tutors are required to attend new tutor training. We therefore would not expect tutors, the quality of their tutoring or their own counselling experience to be lacking.
To confirm, Chrysalis Not for Profit Ltd does not have Board Members and is a completely separate company to the NCPS. The NCPS accredits our counselling courses, as it does for other training providers.
If you have specific concerns about your tutor or our administrative processes then again, I would like to invite you to share these with Student Support - we are always happy to receive constructive feedback and look for ways to improve.
Highly recommended
Having class once a month worked perfectly with my busy life and Chrysalis was just perfect for my needs. Both the my teacher and student support were very helpful and supportive on this journey.

The help for placement in Northern…
The help for placement in Northern Ireland is practically non existent. Paying over 4 grand is a waste of money and not helpful for trying to enter the real, professional world of counselling in NI. My lecturer is great but is using the materials Chrysalis give which can be very outdated and basic. I have told people to stay far away as other services provide more for far less.

Our Student Team can advise you on placement opportunities within the Northern Ireland area that you can contact and they can assist with extensions of time to support you in gaining your placement hours. They can also speak with our Placements and Development Manager about the difficulties you are experiencing and ask that this is looked further into for you. Please do let them know if you would like to talk this through.
We can also assure you that our courses are accredited by the National Hypnotherapy Society and the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society. We constantly monitor our materials and resources and any changes made throughout the year are notified to the Societies for our annual accreditation renewal and are reviewed at this time.
We are sorry to hear of your concerns. This is not the experience we would want for our student and we would invite you to contact our Student Support team to discuss this further so that they can look to offer you advice and support for your final year of study.
Mixed Feelings
Ive found the srudent support really helpful. The mis communication between tutors has been confusing and left people in our class a bit lost on what we at meant to do. Classes we have found have been were we followed a work sheet we could have read at home. Supervisors Ive had have told me they find the level of depth the course goes into isn't good because I dont seem as educated as people on courses from colleges like other students in my supervison group have went to the same as my supervisor . Has left doubt on wherever Im very capable maybe chrysalis isn't getting enough credit or hasn't been as common a place to study. Not sure what it is but nearing end of year three and wandering if Im not that capable or trusted because of the stigma that the way Chrysalis structure their classes is differnt to other places of study. My class and me have talked about how we really enjoyed the first year of Hypnotherapy therapy and think we were because of the kind of tutor we had. Ive struggled with the cost of the course and student finance have been really supportive in offering extended time to pay. Overall its been interesting just feel alone and not much check in how our clinical practice has been going . quite isolating and your left to your own devices to study or not . So long as assignments are done. Enjoyed the flexibility of weekends so can maintain working and earning . Ideal course if your super Confident already and dont need to talk about your journey in class just fcu on the paperwork that you bring to class and the tutor reads back to you really. It's been fun at times with group work not always time for everyone to practice .

Chrysalis has been established since 1998 and has a wide experience in offering hypnotherapy and counselling training. Our courses are accredited by the National Hypnotherapy Society and the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society who both hold Accredited Registers with the Professional Standards Authority. We are also an approved centre for The King’s Trust, who are our awarding body. We see that your supervisor has raised some concerns, and we would be more than happy to speak directly with them to discuss our courses – please do contact our Student Support team if you would like us to do this and we can arrange this. We would also be happy to provide you with written confirmation of your studies with us and qualifications awarded should you need this in the future.

I was struggling to find a placement for my 3rd year since September last year in September!
I have tried all the listed options provided for
College but most of those placements are not within my location range! I emailed searching and back and forward to the one I like still not staring yet even though they had my paperwork and some paperwork work loss in the process! It was taking up my time and stressing me out! It did upset me
I wish 🙏🏼 you could find placement and be ready for us instead of students having to search on their own!
We pay a lot of money for this course, the package itself the course was structured and all good! However, customer service could do better to help more with our struggles. English second-language speakers find it hard! Thank you

We are sorry to hear of the difficulties that you have experienced in finding a placement for your year 3 studies. Our Student Support team are always on hand to provide details of any organisations who offer placements to our students, and also new opportunities which come available.
We are also sorry that you have had problems with your paperwork. We do ask students to liaise with their placement provider when completing paperwork however we are more than happy to help to support you in the completion of this – if you are still waiting to start due to paperwork needing to be completed, please contact our Placements Team and let them know and we will ensure that we help with this so that your placement can commence. Our Student Support team can also help to support you with an extension of time to complete your hours, which can start once you have completed year 3 of studies.
We are pleased that you have found the course to be good and well structured and do take on board your feedback regarding customer service. Our Student Support team are always on hand to assist with queries and we also run weekly online drop in sessions so that students can speak directly with a member of the team. The dates are times for our drop ins are available on your student area and within the Moodle platform, so do get in touch if you have any queries.

Flexible, affordable and accredited counselling course
The three year Psychotherapeutic Counselling Professional Diploma course is affordable, flexible and leads to an accredited qualification with good, supervised practical experience. The support staff at Chrysalis are very helpful and usually respond quickly to queries. We had a few problems with our tutor this year and the odd communication breakdown, which is the only reason why I have taken away one star. On balance I have enjoyed the course so far and feel I am well on the way to achieving my professional goals, gaining confidence, skills and knowledge in my chosen field.

Helped me re-engage with my study
Katie (from Sudent North support) was so helpful when I needed a temporary pause in my studies.
When I was ready to return, Katie helped me re-enrol with the next course group.
This means that I can now re-engage with my studies - which is exactly what I wanted to do.
