I firmly believe that the tutor makes all the difference in a learning journey, and I feel very fortunate to have had Rhianan Lowes as my tutor in the 2nd and 3rd years of my Chrysalis Level 5 Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Practice. Her experience, compassion, and congruence have shaped my final years on the course, making the experience far more meaningful and rewarding. I am deeply grateful for her guidance and support, which have given me the confidence to be myself and to grow into the trainee counsellor I aspire to become.

I'm on the Bristol class for my Level 5 course, and the tutor we have - Rhianan - is brilliant. She's warm, open, and incredibly knowledgeable. She encourages honest discussion around each topic, and holds the class in a safe and caring way. I feel very lucky to be in this group, and have such excellent tutoring. I had a good tutor, Reuben, in my first year too.

Has the whole experience been great? Not always - the admin has been scattershot, and I've had a couple of experiences where things have been unclear, or policies have changed without any notice, making things more difficult for me than they needed to be. I also think that more thought needs to be put into which classes are in-person, and which are online.

Were this based on the teaching alone, it'd easily be 5 stars, but it's about the whole thing. Overall, I think Chrysalis is good, especially if you're juggling study on top of a full-time job or caring role, but it's specific tutors that will really make a difference to your overall experience.

Chrysalis came to our rescue when our previous college shut down our L4 course (mid way through learning). I can't thank them enough for stepping in and putting together a bespoke course for us to enable us to qualify as planned. My tutor Rhianan has been excellent from beginning to end, she is empathetic, kind and very knowledgeable. She made the learning interesting and she made the transition from our previous college to Chrysalis as easy as it could possible be. Thanks to all, especially Rhianan.

Rhianan is a great tutor and I’ve found her really interesting. Rhianan has also helped me when I've needed it. I’m looking forward to continuing my journey with Rhianan and Chrysalis.

Chrysalis have been amazing from start to finish. I have loved the way the class is taught and having Rhianan as my tutor has taught me so much, she brings so much knowledge and a feeling of being held. I’ve just started on this fabulous course. I’ve come from a health care background and I ignorantly assumed I would not learn much. I’ve only been studying for 2 months but so far, I’ve learnt so much already, I’m thoroughly impressed and enjoying this great course! We have a fantastic tutor, with constant access online with help for all students. I really have done the right thing booking this course and studying with chrysalis. After completing the Level 5 Diploma in Pluralistic Psychotherapeutic Counselling, I chose to continue with the Chrysalis Level 5 Diploma in Advanced Counselling Practice (Pluralistic Approach) - and it was one of the most enriching experiences of my professional journey.

This course is not only ideal for qualified practitioners aiming to progress to Column B of SCoPEd, but also for those seeking to deepen their understanding of ethical dilemmas, legal frameworks, and advanced therapeutic techniques. A special mention goes to our tutor, Lorna Cordwell, whose decades of experience and captivating teaching style made this course truly stand out. The quality of education she provides is exceptional - especially considering the affordability of the course.

Chrysalis classes themselves have been okay, quite lengthy and hypnotherapy year was not needed

I’ve really enjoyed the experience of learning psychotherapy through Crysalis. My tutor, Andrew Brown is fantastic, patient, knowledgeable and helps bring the subject to life.

I feel that the course needs more depth and we need more time exploring the subject matter. We can spend too much time talking about the course work than the subject itself.

I also don’t enjoy the online courses and would prefer that all lessons are classroom based. I feel that my learning would be better if the classes were face to face.

I feel the chrysalis counselling course could’ve been structured differently and could’ve offered more depth and less repetition. However, my tutor Andy has been excellent - he is reliable, gives good and constructive feedback on assignments and in class, and we all enjoy his methods of teaching.

Andrew Brown is a great teacher and I’m really happy with the in-person lessons because there are a lot of practical exercises and he gives feedback.
The course sometimes lacks depth and it is sometimes repetitive. Also level 3 being hypnotherapy wasn’t the best use of our time considering we didn’t want to be hypnotherapists, however there was no option of not doing it.

Andrew Brown is a very supportive tutor. Unfortunately the course structure doesn’t allow him time to give analysis and feedback on practical skills.

Chrysalis is a great course provider, the online material is great, student support is accessible and great and the tutor Andy is brilliant- supportive, encouraging, knowledgeable. My only bit of feedback is that the courses available via NCPS which are often advertised by email to students are extremely expensive and inaccessible for many students at time in my opinion.

The course is engaging and our tutor Andrew Brown is a brilliant motivator. He draws on his real life experience and facilitates great class discussion.

At the start, we had a different tutor and the experience was ok but something felt missing. We actually got a new tutor Nick Matthew’s and he’s really great. The whole experience has changed and the atmosphere has really improved. I feel comfortable going to him and receive fast responses, when struggling or needing some support with course work. He’s been my year 1 tutor, and sadly won’t be having him for the next 2 years but this would be great if we could continue having the same tutor, as Nick is amazing. Can’t wait to continue my studies with chrysalis.
