TWO PAYMENTS TAKEN
Two payments were taken, despite two emails, I did not receive a response. I contacted my broker who contacted them directly and they were meant to issue a refund by last Friday which they did not do.

Trying to get a hold of their customer services but as yet no response. It appears that the insurance provide for my unemployment and income protection is now not FCA regulated. I’ve been paying premiums for over two years. Do I complain to the Ombudsman? I feel mislead and clearly ripped off with regards to the policy I took out. The underwriter had changed hands once to Red Apple Finance Ltd so if you are paying into this business then think again as they have multiple warning on their products and appear not to be FCA! Best insurance senior team please he in touch ASAP to discuss a resolution and compensation.
Serious claim, serious hardship, zero support.
I took out an Accident & Sickness policy with Best Insurance in mid-2025, and then had a serious accident at the beginning of January 2026. I started the claim process about a week later.
By the end of January I was trying to complete the ClaimsCog form, which is a 48-page PDF, not even a fillable form. The issue was that I had multiple serious injuries and was severely incapacitated, so completing a document of that size was not exactly easy. I contacted both Best Insurance and ClaimsCog by email and phone and specifically asked whether there was any rush, and whether delay in returning the form would delay the first payout. I was told no rush, and no, it would not delay payout.
I then submitted the completed form at the start of March with ID, bank statements and the other documents requested.
Since then, getting any meaningful communication has been like pulling teeth. It has now been nearly 3 months since the accident and I still have no proper decision. I was originally given the impression that the first payment would be around 60 days after the accident, so that has turned into a pretty grim joke.
What makes this harder to understand is that the claim is not some wildly complex mystery. It was a road traffic collision, not my fault, the other driver was uninsured and unlicensed, police seized the vehicle, and there are serious injuries. Yet the process has involved long periods of silence and chasing.
The delay is not just frustrating, it is now critical. I have been left without income and I am in a desperate financial position, so I am now simply hoping this payout is made soon because it is genuinely vital for my survival.
The most ironic part is the original line from Best Insurance saying, “Our team is here to provide support and ensure a smooth experience for you.” That has not been my experience at all.
I’m leaving 2 stars rather than 1 only because I have at least had occasional contact. But overall the communication and claim handling experience has been deeply frustrating.

I took out 2 x Unemployment (and sickness) insurance policies totalling £4k with Bestinsurance 4 years ago.
After 9 years in a role i was made redundant in December, i claimed in December and by the first week of March we'd finished and it was sent for a decision.
Today i was approved for both policies, with the first payment due in a few weeks.
I don't think i spoke to Bestinsurance once throughout the whole claim process, everything was via the claims handler, Claimscog.
Bestinsurance sold me a policy that covered exactly what i needed should the worst happen, which it has, unfortunately. I haven't got anything negative to say really, apart from them being a little slow at times with email communication.

When you open the claim, they will delay the review as other reviewers say. In my case it was the delay as allegedly they could not get to speak to my former employer on the phone. After accepting the claim, they come up with all sorts of extra demands to complicate claiming on monthly basis. At some point they demanded to see bank statements of a member of the family not associated with claim at all, which we obviously refused.
Then they came up with the alleged audit of my claim just before payment was due. I got no details and no updates apart from 'there is an audit and we have no further updates' for another month.
It's beyond me how scammers like this are allowed to operate on British market!!!!!!
I will report them to Trading Standards, but looks like everyone else does.

Absolutely disgusting behaviour and organisation. Used improper and incorrect information to make a decision not to pay. Took 7 weeks from claim to decision. Now taking 8 weeks to investigate my complaint and appeal against the decision. Appalling. Do not use. I am in the process of taking them and their claims administrator to the FOS and FCA for improper conduct, mis-selling and breach of FCA regulations.
I even told my broker at the time of purchase I was worried about going with Bestinsurance because of all the reviews I’d read. And boy were those reviews correct.
Disgusting. My other providers have been amazing and compassionate and supportive. But I am still now £2k short per month and having to completely overhaul my life.
A disgrace to the insurance industry and a disgrace to the consumer.

Very disappointed
I contacted best insurance to cancel the policy and was told I would get my refund for December 2025 I should have cancelled this be for due date but will never trust any company like this again that's for sure people please be aware of this no I will have to get the bank to re call it back on the phone today 9 1 2026 to find they have but the phone down for no reason all because I have reported them to hmrc for fraud of moneys

SCAM! AVOID!
I took out a policy in good faith with this company. I was made redundant after paying into the policy for over a year. I appled to the company, and it has taken them 5 months to come to a decision...
This decision was that my claim had been declined! Apparently I knew I was going to be made redundant over a year in advance!!
During the five months this company continued to take my premiums at over £100 per month.
They are now saying that they are cancelling my policy!!
I will be contacting the ombudsman first thing tomorrow.
Companies like this SHOULD NOT be allowed to blatantly STEAL from customers.
My payments have totalled over £2000

It’s the biggest scam ever- don’t purchase it; not worth it at all. You better save the money and it will work out the same! Of course you still have to pay them by D/D despite being unemployed otherwise they don’t pay out. They lie; use every excuse to delay the process.
It will all be reported to relevant institutions .

This income protection policy was a complete waste of money. The company seems to specialize in finding loopholes to avoid paying out claims.
After being laid off, I was technically without a job for three months. The company used a technicality to deny my claim just asking papers and more papers and look my bank statment of 1 year and even want to ask information not just about my previous company want to ask information from 2 previous companies that I work for, that don't have nothing to do with the process. Their narrow interpretation of "unemployment" meant I got no support from them.
Frankly, this policy did more harm than good. It's a prime example of why you should always read the fine print, and in this case, a reason to avoid this company altogether, this is just scam trap.

Income protection is a scam
Bought Income protection from them. They found every excuse to not pay out which for me was i found a new job too fast. Avoid at all costs. They would get technical with terms like "unemployment". So i was unemployed for 2 months, however 1 was paid in liu and so they said i dont get insurance. This also meant btw that i didnt get universal credit. So basically i was in a worse place in getting insurance with them than i would have been without it. Worst decision i ever made working with them.

The policy is not worth the paper its printed on. Scam artists avoid at all costs. They continue to take payments while they investigate claims then make up any reason not to pay out. You might as well just burn your money, avoid at all costs warn all your friends and family to avoid absolute cheaters and scam artists!!
Do not trust this company
Do not trust this company, the bottom line is they do not want to pay even when your claim is solid, they constantly delay and won’t give a decision let alone pay, I am in the process of formerly complaining which will then go to the ombudsman. Avoid!!!
