Out of stock pillow received
I have just received my pillow which had been out of stock when I ordered it. Although it took a few weeks to arrive (not the fault of Back in Action) they kept me up to date regularly and even arranged for a specific delivery date to fit around me. I am very impressed with the service and I love the pillow, a replacement for one I've had for a while. Thank you! Would highly recommend this company.

Very poor experience
In the beginning and for quite a while, they were very very helpful. Make sure you are aware they have a 14 not 30 day returns policy like usual online shops however. I got stuck with a high value credit note as returned one chair (totally unopened) as didn't realise it was only 14 days to return, and bought another variable plus as I wanted a different style. I gave up very quickly on this however as it made my back worse and very sore. I didn't want to purchase anything further as then had a chair, product choice is niche and very expensive, and did not want to buy other products with chemical fire retardants on (ie mattress) so was struggling to find what I could use the voucher on. They didn't ever communicate the exact expiry day of the credit note, just the month, so at the end of this particular month (my assumption) I suddenly remembered and asked to get something. They told me it expired mid month 2 weeks prior, and they had never communicated it was mid month before as it was quite vague - and I'd have to purchase something else 'high value' to use the remainder of my credit note or lose it. Very unethical. The credit also wasn't in my online account so you could easily use it and see the expiry - I had to contact them which is a pain and the information about their products on the website is minimal and lacking or else people wouldn't have to ask for further information (for example their products do not state the exact materials used). When I started asking about different products again just prior to this, they became really off and said they had told me it all before (how are you supposed to remember everything you are told in the shop with nothing written down). It was really unpleasant and upsetting, and an odd way to treat customers who have spent a couple of thousand pounds with you. I tried the mobilizer for several months to use up a lot of the voucher as had nothing else I wanted, and that didn't help my back at all either. Decisions re the credit note were from a senior manager apparently - a very disappointing experience at the end from a company that were so helpful in the beginning. Let people use the credit ie the money they have already paid you, and don't make things so complicated by asking them to spend even more and drag it out. They ended up keeping approx £150 from me which is a lot of money especially when I was out of work at that time, and they charge a fortune for their items. I was also told I was costing them money by asking more advice on products even though they had my original money and the sales staff are paid to advise people every day. I don't understand why you would make customers feel like this. It's taking customers for granted, and clearly all about the money only. I don't know what possessed me to pay £1k for a kneeling chair (x 2) - but massively regret it. For the replies - Amersham shop, I do not wish to add personal details on here, Sianna. If you contact them you will find out. This was my exact experience, so you looking into it at this stage does not really help me. I do not want to spend even more money with you to use my credit. I can give some tips on how to improve things - if people buy another chair why cant you refund them for the original one that is totally unused and unopened they have sent back and didn't realise (probably as its not written anywhere obvious) about your limited returns policy, give exact voucher expiry dates on credit notes not just the month and add them to the online account to be able to check, have vastly more detailed product information on your website, don't speak to customers in such a way to make them feel they are costing you money for asking questions about your products or that they don't want to waste any more of their time on you.

Outstanding service from Francesca – Back in Action Cookham
I had an absolutely excellent experience with Francesca at Back in Action in Cookham. From the moment I arrived, she was incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable and patient, and she spent a huge amount of time with me understanding my situation and helping me explore different options.
The showroom itself is beautiful and extremely well laid out, with an impressive range of products to try. Francesca talked me through everything in detail, including the beds, mattresses, chairs and the Mobiliser, explaining how each product works and how it might help with posture, back support and overall comfort.
What really stood out was how genuinely helpful she was — there was absolutely no pressure at all, just thoughtful advice and a real desire to help me understand what might work best for me. She took the time to answer all my questions and made the whole experience very informative and reassuring.
It’s rare to receive that level of care, knowledge and attention in a showroom. I left feeling far more informed about my back and the different options available to support it.
I can’t recommend Francesca highly enough. If you’re visiting Back in Action in Cookham, you’ll be in excellent hands.

Superb company from first telephone contact through to store visit and purchase. Very knowledgeable and very patient with helping my elderly husband find the perfect rocker shoe to help alleviate ankle pain caused by arthritis. We did not feel rushed and tried on numerous pairs/sizes till the perfect fit was found. Impressed with all the other ergonomic products in the store too. Highly recommended this company on all fronts.

Varier Gravity chair: sturdy, beautiful and incredibly comfortable
I bought a Varier Gravity chair after much consideration. I have fibromyalgia and live with constant pain. The quality of the chair, sturdy and beautifully upholstered, and its ability to tip right back and release discomfort from one's feet, legs, and lower back is well worth the investment. Polina from Back in Action provided excellent service, both when I visited the shop, and during the time of delivery.

The Mobiliser
I rented the Mobiliser to see if it would fix me, the reviews are very compelling but I didn’t want to buy until I was sure. It is certainly an impressive piece of kit and Cameron in the shop was very helpful and knowledgable. I diligently used it for 15 minutes, morning and evening. To begin with when I crawled away at the end of a session the pain was immense (and worse than 15 minutes earlier) but this is where the diary system was so useful. Cameron was able to reassure me that I should stick with it and he also got a second opinion from his colleague who wrote me such a kind and educated lengthy message that I was able to re read it when I was losing heart.
As the months went by the improvement was minimal and then things started to go awry. The diary system went quiet and I later found that Cameron had sadly left, and so had his colleague. The guy who eventually took over sometimes responded by phone which is a shame as the diary system is good and useful to refer back to. On the day I really needed reassurance that perseverance was worth it the call felt a bit “sales pushy" telling me how well other people do with it which is great for them (!) but didn’t help me…
Ultimately I just wasn’t seeing any improvement and after 4 months I returned it deciding that if I found I missed it I would buy one but actually I have been doing better without…
I’m not knocking the kit, it’s well constructed and clearly helps lots of people but I hope this helps somebody who like me is reading the reviews and thinking “why isn’t this working for me!!”

Excellent help from an interested and knowledgeable professional in the store. Nothing seemed too much trouble. We are thrilled with the chairs we chose and purchased: they were delivered speedily and at exactly the time they said they would be. I shall return!!
Ordered mobiliser couch/massage table…
Ordered mobiliser couch/massage table and it was delivered within 48 hours. It makes the mobiliser so much easier to use and the height can be adjusted.
Excellent customer service
I phoned the back shop in Bristol (now Back in Action) and they were very helpful, gave great advice. I went online and ordered a Variable kneeling chair which I had to order in the colour way I wanted. Great, clear website. As promised, I was phoned up to say they had it about 8 weeks from order. They arranged for DPD to deliver it. The only bad part of the experience was that I waited in for DPD. They said they were 6 minutes away so I waited at the front door. A few minutes later a DPD van drove past me. Later the driver sent me a message saying he was sorry he missed me with a picture of a hedge in front of a block of residential flats for the elderly in another road. He had a photo of my house which doesn't look anything like that.I phoned the Back in Action number and got Jeremy in Cookham. He was brilliant. Arranged to get a different DPD driver to deliver which went without problems. I was possibly grumpy as I wasn't too well that day and Jeremy was so kind and patient. Really excellent customer service. I would definitely order from them again. The kneeling chair is beautiful and really, really comfortable. Thank you.

Gave good advice on footwear I should buy. They also obtained stock of some sandals I wanted to try, from one of their other stores. So I was able to buy them without having to visit another store.

My experience of the Back in Action Mobiliser
Recently I had the opportunity to hire a Back in Action Mobiliser for a four month trial of their a unique and sophisticated deep whole-body massage device, which offers a variety of graded programmes to accommodate different physiques and conditions. I have always been very active but now, in my early eighties, I am gradually loosing mobility, especially in my spine. However, after using the Mobiliser for half an hour, twice a day for four months, my posture has changed; I am noticeably more upright, more flexible and with considerably less back ache. My gait has also changed for the better. As a retired osteopath I feel it would be quite unfeasible for the vast majority of people to replicate the same amount, depth and consistency of massage through four months of manual treatment. In addition Back in Action includes in the package full access to their very helpful support system. From my own experience of it I am very happy to recommend any one with musculoskeletal problems to consider such a trial, subject of course to an informed assessment of their particular limitations , as the device is intended to deliver a very effective deep tissue massage.
