Very disappointing experience

Very disappointing experience – poor communication and no refund

I made a purchase that was supposed to be delivered on August 10th. On the day of delivery, I received a phone call that I unfortunately couldn’t answer. A voicemail was left saying that the order could not be delivered and that I should call the store to reschedule.

As I understood from the message that my order had been cancelled, I went on to deal with other errands. While I was out, I called the store to reschedule, but the employee I spoke to had no information about the cancellation. She simply told me that my order was still in the system and would be delivered shortly. She was very dismissive and made no effort to investigate what had actually happened.

Since my plans had already changed because of the initial call, I asked her to cancel the order. She confirmed that the order was cancelled.

Later that same day, the driver called to say that he was at my door attempting to deliver the order. Of course, nobody was home at that point because I had been told the delivery could not be made and had changed my plans accordingly.

Today is August 25th, and I am still waiting for my £80 refund.

This has been an incredibly frustrating experience and a complete waste of my time and patience. The lack of communication between the store, delivery driver and whoever handles cancellations is unacceptable. I would expect much better customer service and, at the very least, a refund within a reasonable timeframe.

I ordered a patio set

I ordered a patio set, they delivered it late got confused with my amazon parcel and took away a £50 item. They have not returned it, I must have called about them about 10 times and each time I get told "someone else will help you in 48 hours" and no one does. Each call takes about 45 mins. SO MUCH TIME HAS BEEN WASTED AND I STILL HAVENT GOT MY ITEM BACK.

Asda blame me because I answered the door... they say I need to contact the courier (which they havent told me who that is) and say I need to find it myself.

I will never ever shop at Asda again! Thieves!

I had an awful experience at Asda…

I had an awful experience at Asda today. The one item I went for was not on the shelf or in the stock area despite their website saying it was. The shop is disorganised, has empty shelves, poor quality fruit and veg and every egg box has at least one broken egg. There’s almost no staff. I found one staff member that I had to walk all round the whole store to find who was totally unhelpful and one who tried to help but couldn’t. There is one till (with nobody there)if you don’t want to do their work for them or you scan and pay for your shopping at an automatic machine. I will NEVER shop at any Asda ever again. I am disgusted.

Asda stores are now pushing(forcing)…

Asda stores are now pushing(forcing) customers to use the self serve machines and ensuring that the good old fashioned check out where an actual person serves you deminishes by hardly having any open even at busy times. In some stores you cant even get a cup of tea unless you que up at their automated machine which takes ages to go thru the menu choices before you present your bank card to pay for it. Even you get presented with a mug and tea bag to make it yourself. Finally ASDA reward card has changed dramatically since first launched and now saves you next to nothing unless you choose specific items which THEY highlight for you to purchase. Customer service well I don't know where to start as Asda have cut down on staff at their stores

ASDA Greenhithe

I’m starting to think this Asda has discovered a gap in the market: people who pop out for groceries but would also quite like their day ruined.
I can walk in perfectly happy, needing three completely ordinary items, and somehow leave 20 minutes later without two of them, but with a burning sense of injustice, an existential crisis and the distinct feeling I should probably book both therapy and anger-management sessions on the way home.
It’s genuinely impressive. I’ve never known a supermarket so consistently capable of turning “I’ll just quickly pop to Asda” into a mental-health recovery programme.
Want croissants in the morning? Sod off.
Chicken breast for a salad? Steady on, that’s a bit ambitious.
Apparently expecting a supermarket to stock food is now an unreasonable level of entitlement.
It genuinely doesn’t matter what completely ordinary ingredient I go in for. Somehow, the exact shelf I need will resemble the aftermath of a nuclear apocalypse, while three feet away there’ll be an immaculate display of seventeen varieties of something nobody has willingly purchased since 2019.
Then we come to my personal favourite feature of the Asda experience: the cigarette/customer service counter.
There is a sign stating that the counter opens at 8am.
It does not.
At 8:00am, I asked the security guard when it would be opening and was informed that the member of staff “starts at 8”.
Fantastic.
Unfortunately, and I appreciate we're entering fairly advanced mathematics here 8:10 is not 8:00.
Perhaps the security guard could use some of his time guarding the empty shelves to familiarise himself with the basic principles of telling the time.
And unless Asda employees are issued with teleportation devices during induction, having somebody start work at 8am does not mean the counter opens at 8am.
She has to clock in, walk across a store approximately the size of a small European country, get behind the counter, switch everything on and set the tills up before she can actually serve anybody.
So having a sign confidently announcing “Counter opens at 8am” is, quite simply, misleading.
Might I suggest something more accurate:
“Counter opens at approximately 8-ish, once our employee has clocked in, completed the pilgrimage across the store and set everything up. Please do not make the unreasonable assumption that the time displayed on this sign bears any relationship to reality.”
Alternatively, and brace yourselves because this is revolutionary, if you want the counter operational at 8am, have the person operating it start at 7:45.
Yes, this would require paying approximately 15 additional minutes of wages.
I appreciate this could bring the entire Asda empire to its knees.
Far more financially prudent to inconvenience your customers every morning and then gaslight them with a sign suggesting they simply don't understand how clocks work.
Anyway, I've finally accepted that repeatedly visiting somewhere that causes me this much psychological distress is technically self-inflicted, so I am officially boycotting this store.
I'm defecting to M&S at Bluewater.
And here comes the plot twist that should have Asda's management sitting quietly in a darkened room reflecting on their life choices:
M&S IS ACTUALLY CHEAPER FOR SOME OF THE THINGS I BUY.
The coffee beans definitely are.
So congratulations, Asda.
Through a truly remarkable combination of empty shelves, fictional opening times and customer inconvenience, you've somehow managed to make Marks & Spencer look like the economical option.
I now leave M&S carrying my shopping.
I leave Asda carrying resentment, existential dread and the contact details of a local therapist.
⭐️ One star.
Not because the store deserves one, but because Google won't let me exchange it for the 15 minutes of my life Asda was apparently so determined to save on wages.
Still, look on the bright side: M&S has gained a customer.
Turns out the best thing I’ve ever found in stock at Asda was the motivation to shop somewhere else.

Asda Rewards has become completely…

Asda Rewards has become completely useless for regular shoppers: despite spending hundreds of pounds every month and shopping every couple of days since late last year, my Cashpot total since then stands at a miserable £3 (currently sitting on 58p). The current setup feels like a total insult, filled with irrelevant coupons for items I never buy, niche fillers pushing private pharmacy appointments, and unrealistic missions expecting a £75 single-transaction spend just to get £2 back. A loyalty scheme should actually reward frequent, consistent spending on everyday groceries, but Asda Rewards has stripped away all value for regular customers, and it feels like you're taking the mick.

ASDA Cancelled Order - All Their Fault - But I Suffer

Re: ASDA St Austell

I have been splitting my shopping delivery orders between Asda & Tesco since the pandemic.

Lately, Asda have been out of stock of items I ordered or send substitutes.

I have started to use ALDI and notice their quality and prices are very good.

Today, I was waiting for my normal ASDA order, which is regular with an ASDA Saver delivery for alternate Mondays between 17:00 and 18:00.

At 17:30 when I had no notification, I checked the APP and it showed the order was placed and confirmed, but nothing more.

I phoned ASDA customer service and was told that the store hadn't received the order so it was being cancelled - the lady confirmed the order had been received on the ASDA system, confirmed to me by email and the money ring fenced on my card account.

So it looks to me to be an ASDA St Austell problem!

I said this is not my problem - it is an ASDA problem - but she said there was nothing that could be done about it.

So I have decided that as ASDA have dropped me in the proverbial, that there is something that I can do about it and will go to ALDI and spend my money there and no longer use ASDA as their service is deplorable.

So ASDA you have just lost a £5K plus a year customer.

Well Done!

Bad service Asda in Shrewsbury

Shopped at Asda in Shrewsbury this morning bad experience at customer service desk.
I have a disability when sometimes using my fingers does not work for me.
Today I couldnt turn my phone on to pay for shopping & get my reward points so I paid cash.
Then I went straight to customer service desk after getting someone to get my phone on & said to the assistant as she just stared at me " Hello can you help me get my reward points onto my phone as I couldnt turn it on" before the last breath had come out of my mouth she said" "In the term & conditions" she was not interested in my problem.
I left the store called customer services who also were interested when I offered all the details & that I would not get any response.
Well Asda my response to instead is goodbye farewell never using your stores or online shopping again

Repeated delivery problems

Repeated delivery problems – missing items, warm/defrosted food and groceries left on a dirty floor
I am extremely disappointed with Iceland’s delivery service because these problems keep happening.

With my latest order, three packs of water were completely missing, and the food arrived warm to the touch. The frozen items were soft and defrosted, with one ice cream visibly melted, which I photographed.

What is even more concerning is that this is not unusual with my Iceland deliveries. Most of the time, frozen food arrives nowhere near properly frozen — it is often warm or very soft to the touch, with no ice packs or anything around it to keep it frozen. Many of these products specifically state on the packaging that they should not be refrozen once defrosted, so what exactly am I supposed to do with food that arrives already defrosted?

I requested a refund of £15.75, yet customer service asked me for photographs. I find this ridiculous when part of the complaint is about items that were never delivered. How am I supposed to photograph three missing packs of water?

This is also far from my first delivery problem. On a previous order, my groceries were left directly on the dirty, wet communal floor outside my flat. The actual food packaging was exposed to dirt and debris, and my photographs clearly show spider webbing and a spider directly on the packaging.

There have also been other occasions where items were missing and I did not even bother reporting them because dealing with Iceland customer service is so draining. The attitude can be rude and dismissive, and you are made to feel as though you are lying when you are simply reporting what happened.

At this point, I genuinely feel I cannot order from Iceland without something going wrong — whether it is missing items, warm and defrosted frozen food, or groceries being handled unhygienically.

Customers should not have to repeatedly complain just to receive the food they actually paid for in an acceptable condition.
Extremely disappointing and completely unacceptable.

I bought something from George for collection and made a special trip to the store. Despite it being open and staff everywhere I was told I couldn't collect my item because it wasn't 8am and the machine doesn't work until then! Absolutely ridiculous, why is a shop full of staff unable to just give me my item!

Don't buy petrol from Asda

⁷Don't buy petrol from Asda. They took 3 lots of £99 pending on my bank account. One went on day two a further £99 went off pending when my correct amount of £44.10 went on my bank statement and 3 days later I still have £99 pending. When it happened I rang the bank they couldn't do anything and I rang Asda they couldn't/ wouldn't do anything. They asked had I entered my card 3 times. What a joke, I will NEVER get petrol from Asda again. Good news for Tesco!
