Unhelpful, uncaring and utterly useless company
Having booked a holiday through a 3rd party company we ended up on a Transun Northern Lights trip to Finland. Possibly the worst experience in relation to package holidays I’ve ever had. Unknowledgeable staff, unhelpful staff and at times downright rude staff, this company should be avoided at all costs. A constructive letter of complaint to Transun received a corporate reply which answered nothing I had mentioned but did say how glad they were we’d seen the northern lights, typical response from someone not reading a complaint
DO NOT go to Tundrea with Transun
Booked a once in a life time 4 day experience to Lapland Tundrea Dec 2021 via Transun. I can only explain that this was a complete disappointment and not worth the money we paid. The biggest issue being Day 2 and the Husky Safari. I can honestly say this was not a Safari. We had all of 5 minutes around the frozen lake. The Reindeer experience the next day wasn't much longer either. Customer support is rubbish and they do not care one bit about their customers. The only positives about the experience is the accommodation was nice and the kids loved the snow
Fantastic northern lights tour
Just come back from an amazing holiday with Transun to Lapland ,Finland,we stated at the hotel Jussantupa,in Enontekio. When we landed we were met by our rep Dino ,then taken to get suited and booted,,these outfits were clean and boots very comfortable, they made sure that the suit fitted you comfortably and boots were too ,our hotel was lovely ,rooms clean and was more like a suite than a room plus there was no single room supplement to pay ,food was very good and staff very helpful,.all the outings were great and found the people who ran these outing very friendly and also helpful to make sure that you were safe and warm, our rep Dino was always on hand to answer any questions and found him first class very enthusiastic about his work too ,would recommend this holiday and not be put off by some comments
We’ve had the best holiday with Transun
We’ve just been to Finland with Transun, we booked through Santaclausetrips.com & the whole experience from start to finish has been amazing.
We stayed in Jeri’s Cabins & our Transun rep Sarah was fantastic.
I would recommend to anyone looking for a hassle free holiday
DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY
DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY. Regardless of the ever changing and confusing COVID rules they refuse to even consider moving our trip and wont even consider a refund. We were told when we booked on January that this would not be a problem. They are only interested in one thing that's your money. TUI are I am lead to believe far more accomodating. Never again.
Awful company
We booked for a trip in 2020, but they moved it to 2021 due to cancellations at our local airport. The only option was an inconvenient day and to travel from an airport 4 hours drive away. We were refused a contribution towards the extra expenses, including hotel stays.
Having been forced to move to 2021, we are now unable to travel because my wife is a nurse and the new rules state she has to have a PCR and isolate when she has to be working. Transun have refused to move the holiday like TUI have for their customers and have refused a refund. Book elsewhere and make sure your travel agent isn't booking through Transun. Unfortunately this company hide behind the agent and refuse to speak to you directly. Zero morals.
Not replying to their negative reviews sums it up.
Lost my Luggage
Previously rated 5 stars but now sadly 1 .. star . Trip was great though ruined by my loss luggage .. in almost minus 30 with no clothes for me and my children.
Reason for 1 Star now . Is Transun are ignoring all my emails regarding the loss of luggage.
Refusing to move our trip to next year or issue a refund
Due to pregnancy and flight operators refusing travel beyond 28 weeks, we are unable to go to lapland this year. Transun are refusing to move our trip to next year or give us a refund. Such a shame, it's put me off ever booking a package trip ever again. £800 is a huge amount of money to loose. We'd love to go next year and pay the difference in cost but apparently it's policy to not move trips to next season, though I see they did it in the pandemic. So we give them money for nothing and they line there pockets post Covid. Ruined there reputation for me, we'd go with other companies who are currently offering everyone the change to move to next year due to uncertainity about travel. Very disappointed indeed
Fantastic understanding company
Fantastic understanding company
We enjoyed our holiday to Lapland so much in Jan 2020 we book to go again in Jan 2021 all booked before Covid situtation hit the UK.
Today via phone call they let us transfer our holiday and trip to Ice hotel to 2022 we do not have to pay full amount now until November 2021 and only had to pay a fee of £10 pp to do this, very pleasant helpful person on the phone
What a relief this is the way to treat your customers not like TUI who treated my family group appallingly back in the summer
WELL DONE AND A BIG THANK YOU TRANSUN we can relax and look forward to our 2022 holiday
Transun Northern Lights - Lapland
Can't give less than a star unfortunately. Please avoid at all costs. This is the first time that I have ever regretted going on a trip and I feel like I wasted my time and money. Now, this is my personal opinion and it might be different from yours so please keep an open mind reading this. This was my first holiday package where everything was arranged by a tour operator. I usually like to go myself and book my own things and research on places, hotel and what to see but because my wife and I came across this package with a list of activities that we wanted to do anyway and we decided to give it a try. Well, to sum up, imagine you are a foreigner who wants to visit Lapland and you build up all these expectations in your mind, visiting local places and restaurants and meeting local people and eating traditional food and you know experience a full immersion in a different culture but then you end up in an british Hotel (with dirty rooms), run by british people, that serve british food (yumm!..) , 1 british run gift shop, and all activities are organised by these uninspired and bored british people who work seasonally there for a few months and know fudge all about anything local. Bloody hell people. Luckily we found another couple who agreed with us so we are not the only one at least. And btw there were boots and thermal clothes included in the package. Boots offered were wet and broken in someway so that cold and snow would get in eventually. The hotel is isolated, so you can't escape. And now I will sum up all the activities for you:
Reindeer Camp: they take you on a ride, a very slow and very long ride where a guy basically walks a reindeer and you are sitting on a sledge and after a while you start freezing to death. At the end they offer you a warm juice and that's it.
Wild Husky Safari: Yeah, they are not Husky dogs and most of them are old, blind (for some obscure reason), malnourished and smell or urine. And you shovel faeces mixed with snow for most of the ride.
Northern Lights Forest Trek: cool, a walk in the snow with a birtish guide where they serve you warm juice at the end.
Loan of thermal suits and boots: old, broken, dump/wet and smelly.
Northern Lights Snowmobile Safari: ok this was a good one.
Ice Igloo: Just don't. It's not even an igloo.
And I love british people and culture. It would be like an american who wants to visit italy and everything there is american. Capisc?
PS don't complain while you are on the trip or they will track you down and pressure you into deleting your reviews.
Take my advice or don't. And good luck
Enontekio Santa Day Trip
Most fantastic experience. Helpful staff. Queing was almost non existent. Food simple but warm.and tasty. Setting remote and perfect... real Christmas card stuff. Airport very small but they managed well, landing on the snowy runway gave me a few gray hairs!!! I believe that after we landed they stopped landing there yesterday! . Snow suit allocation a bit long winded but can not think of a suggestion on how to improve it.
All in all a truely Magical day where we created some perfect memories. Thank you. Kelly, our transun tour guide, was lovely and totally made Grandads day, thank you Kelly
Enontekiö Santa Day Experience
Enontekiö Santa Day Experience. All I can say is that we had the most magical and amazing day. Yes it is long, yes it is tiring but my goodness I would do it again in a heartbeat. The plane that was due to.land after us could not and therefore the Village was not as busy as it might have been. Waiting time for experiences was minimal. Plenty of hot drinks, tea, coffee and hot fruit squash available all day for free along with biscuits and doughnuts. Food was simple fare but really tasty but may not be suitable for.more 'fussy' children but crisps chocolate available in the gift shop at extra cost. Fitting for snow suits boots etc, a bit long winded but nit awful. No toilets in snowsuit place so get kids to use airport or wait till venue. Transfer time from airport to village is about 30mins (not taking into account snowsuit fitting time). Airport is very small and not really capable of dealing with a surge of passengers but it is fine. Why would they build a huge international airport for an area that only has a large influx during a couple of.months of the year. All staff/people were very friendly and cheerful. Guys at the end of the day this place is 250miles into the artic circle not your easy access spanish holiday destination. All in all we had the most amazing day and created the most magical memories.
Not worth even a fraction of the money
Guys, this has been one of the worst travel experiences my family has ever had to endure. We travelled from Edinburgh today (14th December) to Lapland for a day trip and from the beginning this was horrendously organised. We waited at the gate, various other flights around us were called but not ours - then a rush as the majority of people realised it was actually boarding. Waiting on the bus to transport us to the plane - for some inexplicable reason the staff kept us there for 15 minutes with the doors open, absolutely freezing, it turned out everyone was on and so the wait was unnecessary anyway. Got on the plane and we sat there for 2 hours in a farcical situation - no communication, no announcements on why we were delayed. A member of staff was cluelessly wandering up and down the plane issuing what turned out to be our return boarding passes - these were not in any order and therefore took her an excruciating amount of time to hand out. A lot of frustrated, angry people at this point. We eventually take off and the crew announce no card payments or ‘Scottish’ money accepted, only English notes - on a Scottish flight. For good measure the crew repeatedly announced info about the return flight to ‘England’. Brilliant. The flight lands and again the organisation is chaotic - toilets can’t be used in the airport we are informed, use the ones on the coach. The toilets on the coach are locked however which is a really dire situation for a plane full of children. The rep told us information we didn’t need (there was a gift shop) but not info we did need (how long the coach journey would take, what time dinner would be - we accidentally discovered this from another member of staff). An overpriced Christmas/Santa experience later and we are sitting in one utterly godforsaken airport, crowded with too many other families and of course the flight back is delayed by 2 hours - again no communication, no explanation (all of those on the trip were back at the airport an hour BEFORE the flight was scheduled to leave?). The facilities are well below basic in this airport, no hot food or even alcohol to numb the experience. In short, this was a nightmare from start to finish and I will actively and enthusiastically relay this feedback to anyone thinking about booking this trip with Transun.
Terrible and rude service
Terrible and rude service. After speaking to them on the phone, I was dubious over whether to purchase a trip to Lapland with them due to a lack of knowledge on the holidays.
Would recommend going with professionals and not using this company.
Went on artic short break February…
Went on artic short break February 2019. Booked Davvi artic lodge, but due to a fire was put in far lower grade of hotel. Was unable to socialise with our best friends (due to lack of seating area), did not have our panaromic restaurant view, no sauna, no sledges to use, room was very basic with shower that went cold after few minutes. This hotel was a good 50 minute walk from nearest shops etc. Our other friends who booked last minute did stay in the Davvi hotel (which was at the site of the lodges we'd booked). We have received a refund of £180 which is not much as we paid £2138 for the break. Plus our friends paid £1596 and yet they stayed in the luxuriuos Davvi Hotel
Worst day out I have ever had
Worst day out I have ever had. I ended up in tears.
Travel went well . 4 children 4 adults.
Changing facilities cramped and very rushed. Snow gear good.
Slow queues for sleigh rides, snow mobile and forever awaiting sleigh to see Santa. Several Helmets for the mobiles and Santa's sleigh had no visors. Thin blankets for the sleigh. Wigwams with fires were in adequate and poorly placed for shelter. Poor advice from guide as to waiting times. Also we were told not to go into the Resturant until our guide let us know as ther was not enough room for all the groups at once. We would still be waiting.! Hot meal was a burger and chips! Buy your own hit drink.
We ran out of time for the younger children to see the reindeer.
My letter of complaint only generated an apology that we had not had a good time.
Poor
we went Lapland with our 7 and 9 year old expecting magical things. We filled in a questionnaire before going about the children so Santa would look like he knew them, and off we went.
Everything went ok, it was very cold and the kids did cry because the boots and suit could not keep them warm enough during the snowmobile ride.
The worst part was when we finally got to meet santa. The questionnaire we had filled out was not used. Santa did not know anything special about our children, we might as well have stayed at home and saved a load of £.
On top of this when we got back everyone had left!!! Yes the bus had left without us! how is that possible???
We wrote complaining when we got back and received two reply... both saying they were sorry that we did not have a great time and that they, when they was told they had left without us, did come back for us!!! I should hope so, thats they least they could do!
This was no more than a very very expensive trip to extreme cold. The kids did not enjoy it because of the cold and santa did not make it special. I am so disappointed and wish I would have stayed at home!
Transun Lapland Disaster
I had high hopes for this trip, as any parent would when taking their children to see the 'real' Santa. What we experienced was so badly organised it was shocking. When we arrived, the temperature was minus 37, which I appreciate can't be controlled. However, given that these temperatures are not uncommon, you should have measures in place to keep visitors comfortable whist waiting for the various activities. Instead we were expected to wait around for 30 minutes or more with nothing more than a small fire to keep a coach load of visitors warm. Needless to say, this had absolutely no effect. This resulted in our children spending most of their time sobbing due to the pain from their fingers and toes. This situation was the norm for the afternoon with scores of parents hopelessly trying to keep their crying children warm. Please don’t underestimate the level of discomfort everyone was exposed to. Kids were screaming and crying everywhere, even parents were crying because of their children. It was horrendous.
Could this have been avoided? Absolutely. If there had been more warming stations then this would have helped a lot. Surely this would be a relatively cheap addition? But hey, who cares about the dreams of small children when there’s profit to be made. Oh, and if you’re expecting an intimate get together with Santa, forget it. You’re on a production line of visitors being ferried to and from his log cabin. Once inside (eventually, after waiting for another 10 minutes outside), it’s no surprise to see Santa IS NOT the guy pictured on the website with smiling children. He was wearing a terribly fake looking wig (strange why the ‘real’ Santa would have to try to look like Santa?) and smelt of alcohol. Yes, we’d waiting in the freezing cold, by now in intense pain, to meet some second rate lookalike who was about as conversational as the reindeer and didn’t seem to have much of a clue what was going on.
Can you imagine how we were feeling at this point? We’d seriously let our children down, they were heartbroken.
GOOD POINTS: Staff were as helpful as they could be given the situation, however several seemed about as disillusioned as we were. I imagine there is quite a high staff turnover based on some of their comments. The flight was good and so was the transfer from the airport.
BAD POINTS: Poorly organised. Poor food. Very average attractions. Very average Santa. Huskies looked poorly cared for.
SUMMARY: Visit Transun’s website and you’ll be sold the dream of a magical trip to Lapland. The truth is that you’ll leave bitterly disappointed and wondering why you didn’t just go to see Santa at your local garden centre. I spent the latter half of the trip cuddling my children, feeling the need to apologise to them for bringing them to such a place. We were gutted and the kids just kept asking if we could go home. What was meant to be a once if a lifetime treat for our children turned out to be a nightmare. Be prepared to endure your trip rather than enjoy it.
Do not waste your money!
I had the worst holiday of my life to Lapland with this company.
Do not waste your money.
