I had a terrible experience with

I had a terrible experience with Thrifty car rental. Despite being asked to check in online to save time, I ended up waiting in line for over 90 minutes. To make things worse, I tried calling for assistance but couldn’t get through. My piece of advice: save yourself the frustration and go somewhere else. Thrifty is not worth it.

Absolute thieves

Absolute thieves! I was charged for two days on a one day car rental on a car that was returned early with a full tank of gas. I am disputing the charge and will never rent from any compy associated with Thievery, I mean Thrifty, no I mean the first one.

A nightmare, hour and a half wait, and still no car

A nightmare here. When we arrived there was a large crowd waiting for their cars. Someone said it could be two hours, but I thought they were exaggerating.

I prepaid for a car two weeks ago, then I checked in online early to "skip the line" as they advertise. It's been more than an hour and a half waiting and I still don't have a car. I complained to the management and they just said it's a busy weekend. But that's not an excuse. Why do you rent out so many cars if you can't handle it?

Don't rent here.

This place is a scam.

This place is a scam.
They lure you in with cheap prices, but add on so many hidden and unexplained extra expenses, that you pay way more than at Hertz fx.
This was the most expensive car rental I’ve ever tried, and the worst one customer service vise as well.

Save your money for a serious car rental place instead, where you get quality service and quality cars. Somewhere that doesn’t hide the extreme expensive price you end up paying in the end.

Over an hour queue just to do the paperwork

After waiting in LAX security for over an hour to get out the airport, the last thing you want to do when you go to pick up your hire car after a 13 hour flight is wait in another line for well over an hour to do the paperwork and pick up the car despite going through the online check in (which apparently wasn’t working - there was no message or indication from the staff in the Thrifty office) Absolute ridiculous customer service, though the guys who work in there are very nice and professional once you actually get through the line! Never again will I use Thrifty at LAX!

BEWARE NEVER AGAIN WITH THRiFTY CAR…

BEWARE NEVER AGAIN WITH THRiFTY CAR RENTAL .
My partner and I rented a car @ Thrifty’’s located @ LA airport for 2 weeks. He booked it online, declined the insurance and was charged $475 usd deposit . When we arrived @LAX on 06/13/24 we waited an hour to do paperwork and select our vehicle . We were asked if we wanted additional insurance and asked to sign paperwork for a deposit . Once again my partner declined the insurance which was verified by person working @ front desk. . Turns out it’s a scam . Thrifty’s says we signed paper agreeing to additional charges. They say you are signing for deposit and never gave us a copy of document . My partner received credit card bill for car rental and optional insurance for total of $800 usd . Manager was not willing to discuss the additional charges or negotiate . Company takes advantage of tired, stressed tourists in a hurry to get to their destination and b/c they have your credit card can add additional charges whenever they want . I definitely will never use Thrifty’s car rental again .

Had a puncture....assistance number…

Had a puncture....assistance number didn't work.several passers by tried to ring. Took a whole day before a French man got through to A.I chat bot. Eventually they sent a pick up truck. They took the car and left me....I asked what next..they said ring assistance. Tried for 4 days. Rang garage to say not contacted them but was car fixed. They said no ..you need to come and pay in advance for 2 new tyres as both to be changed if only 1 flat. I had to hitch a ride to garage to pay. Unable to contact thrifty or hertz. Rang uk, Paris and limoges no joy. Left with no replacement car....in middle of no where with no food or provisions. Had to rely on neighbouri g properties . Got car back on next to last day to see gash in front tyre which they will try and blame on us.
Never again!

1st and last time using Thrifty

#1 DO NOT RENT WITH THRIFTY USE LITERALLY ANYONE ELSE #2 If you must rent with Thrifty when you pick up your car DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING!!! ( also record any and all interactions with their employees) When picking up my car at PDX I was asked by the clerk if I would like to add insurance which I declined. I was then told my card would be charged a deposit that would be held until the car was returned and then it would be released. I was told to sign here to acknowledge the deposit being held until return. According to Thrifty I was actually signing for the insurance which I had just previously declined. Now I have a $277 charge they refuse to refund. Apparently this is common practice for the crooks.

I rented a car at RDU.

I rented a car at RDU.. It wasn't ready and was only 82% full which I made them put on contract. I returned it full and they said just leave the keys and I said, "it's full" and she said ok the bus is waiting for you. I got home and they billed $160 for fuel for a compct car that I brought back FULL. No way to fix it. I have a charge from Quick trip where I topped it off but they want a physical receipt. AWFUL company!

I WILL NEVER EVER RENT FROM THEM AGAIN!!!!

I had rented a vehicle from the STL location. I was in St. Louis MO for a funeral. I only needed a vehicle for one day. My vehicle pickup was a smooth transaction. My vehicle drop off was a nightmare. I had gone to the wrong Thrifty location. I'd ended up being 45 minutes late to the correct location. Thrifty Rental Car said I was over the 24 hour period. I was charged an additional day! I will never ever rent from them again!!!!

I am not happy at all

I am not happy at all. I had a minibus hired through my place of work, this was to be dropped off on 03/05 at 9am but was instead delivered on 02/05 at 10:40am, luckily I was at home to accept this. The delivery driver explained how it was a brand new 2024 vehicle so there was no point going round it to check for damage as there wasn't any. He gave me the keys, got me to sign and off he went. I used the vehicle for it's intentions and then my hire ended on 05/05 at 9am as planned. However, the vehicle was not collected as they do not collect on weekends or bank holidays (which I was not informed) Unfortunately, I had to leave for work today 07/05 and was unable to get through to anyone on the phone as the lines do not open until 8:30am, by which time I am at work and do not have access to my phone to try and contact them to find out when the vehicle will be collected. In the meantime Thrifty have sent someone to my home address to collect the vehicle, but they have been unsuccessful as no one is home to hand the keys over, and there is not a safe place to leave the keys. As they were not able to collect the vehicle they now want to charge me for 3 days additional hire (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday) at £89.71 per day, plus a £35 collection cancellation charge (Total £304.13) extra to my original 2 days hire, plus delivery and collection charge which was agreed when making the booking. Had someone explained to me that they do not collect on weekends and bank holidays and they would in fact be collecting today 07/05, I would have made arrangements to be at home, but as I was not given and information nor was I told when this vehicle would be collected I was unable to do this. Sadly, I cannot read minds.

Never use Thrifty Car Rental

Never use Thrifty Car Rental! We paid for our car rental through Walmart Travel. My husband, who was traveling to see his ailing elder sister, picked up the car at the airport. When he refused an electric car, they gave him a 5-year old Buick suv and charged him for an upgrade. (We had reserved the Special) They also re-charged him for the rental adding all insurance and extras which we had not had in our reservation. All that was covered by the credit card we used. As was, the re-done rental. The charges were now more than $600 additional. He took the car because his mind was on his sister, who did pass away hours later. He figured they would straighten it out after seeing the rental was pre-paid, and he didn’t have the time. I immediately started trying to contact Thrifty Car Rental as soon as the receipt came over email, but only could ever reach recordings and dead ends. Finally I was told by Barclays I’d have to wait until the charges hit the card to fight it. So I waited. I’ve now appealed twice, and basically was told that he signed, so they win. Please don’t give this company any business. We never will, and won’t pass up an opportunity to re-tell our experience. They are crooked and have no morals.

rude people

made a reservation for pick up at Reagan today and was greeted by the most unpleasant person i have ever met. rudeness prompted me to ask to see a manager and he decided to tell me off and then quit. just walked away. after standing at the counter for 15 minutes a manager came out and helped me get a car. neither person would give me their name and no one was wearing name tags. they don’t deserve your business.

Do not rent a car from Thrifty Albuquerque Airport

My wife and I recently rented a car from the Albuquerque Airport Thrifty Rent A Car. I explicitly told the rental agent that we did NOT accept the Loss Waiver Damage option (with my wife as a witness), but when we were already on the road (it was well after dark after a long flight) to our ultimate destination 2.5 hours away, we noticed on our receipt that the agent added the option anyway for an extra $167.96.

We tried several times to call him at Thrifty, but only got a nationwide Thrifty number with options that did not apply to our issue and instead sent us in circles and ultimately kept dropping the call. Since we initially made the reservation through Expedia, I then entered into an online chat with Expedia. Expedia told me that they were able to speak with someone at Thrifty who told them that nothing could be done now but that I could discuss reimbursement with Thrifty when I returned the car.

When we returned the car to Thrifty at the Albuquerque Airport, the same agent who rented the car to us was at the desk there, and I explained the situation to him. He said that it was too late to do anything to correct the situation; that we had only 30 minutes after initially renting the car to make any changes in the rental agreement. His tone of voice was extremely rude and arrogant when he stated this, so I walked away very, very angry.

I wish I had taken this Thrifty employee's name because, when initially renting the car, he talked a mile a minute like someone high on drugs and seemed to pay little attention to anything I said. It made me wonder if his pay was based in part on a commission, especially after I read a review on the Expedia website by another car renter at this same Thrifty location who had the exact same experience (not surprisingly, the overall rating of this Thrifty location on Expedia was 2.7/5, and even lower on other websites, with many giving it a 1 rating having had similarly terrible customer service). I explained our experience on a customer form to Hertz, of which Thrifty is a subsidiary, requesting them to do the right thing by refunding the $167.96 for services we explicitly declined. Their response was basically, 'tough luck--you should have read the contract before signing it.' I will never rent from Hertz or its subsidiaries Thrifty or Dollar again, as their employees are untrustworthy at best and con-men liars and cheats out to maximize their commissions by any means at worst.

They lie about costs

They lie about costs. They know travelers have no choice once they get to their destination & they use that to sucker you into more fees. They charged me over 600 for fees and insurance that I did not need and gas that I did not use. Took over 2 hours to get my car because of their scamming me into stealing more money from me.

Bogus charges

I rental a vehicle at Sky Harbor for a week. The vehicle was ready and the pick up and return was easy. However, later that day I got an email from Thrifty informing me that they added a $100 fee to my bill for cleaning the exterior of the vehicle. I've rented cars for 40 years, including several times with Thrifty, and never had such an outrageous charge tacked on. It will definitely be my last rental with them.

La peggior esperienza di noleggio auto…

La peggior esperienza di noleggio auto mai avuta in vita mia. Ho prenotato a settembre un'auto cabriolet per un'esperienza particolare a Key West da fare a novembre. La sede presso la quale dovevo ritirare l'auto (16 strada) era chiusa e sono stato indirizzato ad altra sede (38 strada con aggravio di costi per il taxi preso). Arrivato alla sede indicatami alle ore 8 mi viene comunicato che l'auto da me prenotata non era disponibile. Mi viene offerta una vettura diversa, elettrica e sicuramente non adatta al viaggio che dovevo fare. Ho chiesto il rimborso di quanto speso ma se c'è qualcuno che ha prenotato con Trlhrifty/Dollars di Miami Beach rivolgetevi per tempo ad altra struttura.

Fraudulent charges

Fraudulent charges! Beware don’t rent here!

I was told in an ORAL contract that the overcharge on the insurance would be removed when i returned the rental.
I was provided a number to confirm the call.
I was then told that the person basically lied to me over the phone and that no one would help me because I signed a contact (even though the final Cost was NOT listed on supposed contract AND I had an oral addendum to said contract after speaking on the phone with the representative. This place is a scam and a bait and switch. The confirmation email had the correct price, the email received after doubled the price! NEVER rent from here! Liars and scam artists!

Unreliable and rude…

Unreliable and rude… there was a 2 hour wait and then they said no cars for 6 hours. And… the staff made me feel like it was my fault and was yelling at everyone in the line. At least notify customers in advance if you know you won’t have enough cars to fill the reservations.

Total Scam

Do not ever use American Express Travel to rent a car. It is an absolute scam. They will not only charge you to rent the car, but then Thrifty car rental agency will charge you for the same rental AGAIN PLUS MORE, so you will end up paying 2.5x what you were expecting to pay.

Then when you dispute the charge, it will take approximately a month for them to tell you 'too bad so sad.'

I will NEVER rent with Thrifty ever again so long as I live.
