The best time!
I’ve had the most amazing time with the mighty roar and couldn’t have had a better experience. They give you so many opportunities and experiences. There are so many extra activities to do when you are here including visits to the waterfall, hot springs, sip and paint and more. I really enjoyed the medical placements and even got chance to do some days at childcare too which I loved. All the other volunteers were so lovely and I’ve made some amazing new friends!!
Ghana hospital project
Had a great time volunteering with the hospital project in Ghana. The accom is in a perfect location on the beach, with surfing, volleyball and tanning as pass time options. The weekend trips were my favourite parts of the trip. However, we did have poor communication upon arrival to Ghana and some peers had zero communication. And the hospital experience brought lots of variety and freedom. We could pick different wards each day, although we usually were sat in the corner, not doing much, and the spoken language is not English and mostly not translated to you. The food at the accom was good and a blend of English dishes and Ghanaian. Ultimately the experience is what you make of it, and the people you share it with. I came as a solo traveller and made friends for life.
Felt safe and had the best time
I went with the mighty roar in Tanzania, and have had the best time. The staff have really made this experience, nothing is too much to ask and they always meet you with a friendly smile! The activities are so much fun, the placement is so interesting and the drivers make sure to keep you safe when out and about . I would definitely go with TMR again!! Thankyou for everything xxx
Tanzania medial programme!! AMAZING
Tanzania medical programme.
During my 6 weeks in Tanzania I had the most amazing time!! The experiences I had during the medical programme were once in a lifetime. The people I have met are the most amazing people! The staff are so so lovely and we couldn’t ask for better people to take care of use during our time. The trips as well were amazing! I would 1000% recommend this experience to anyone!!
Amazing experience best time of my life

Sri Lanka Medical Elective
I did the Medical Elective programme for 4 weeks in Sri Lanka. The experience as a whole was very enjoyable; the staff are all amazing and the location was great. Hikkaduwa is a good tourist town and is a 10 min drive but becomes very quiet out of season (May-December). The placement was interesting but was purely observational as advertised and occasionally the doctors can ignore you but was mostly good. Getting all food included is a massive help but can get quite repetitive having very similar meals. Lots of free time to explore local areas after placement and at weekends.

I spent two weeks in Greece doing the Turtle programme in Kefalonia. And it was amazing! The staff really brought all of us together and I couldn’t have imagined a better thing to book right after my last year of uni :) Thank you !!

I did the 4 week medical elective with TMR in Tanzania and I’ve had the best time. The staff are all so friendly and helpful and they made me feel incredibly welcome. Not only that but the other volunteers here settled my nerves immediately as they were all so kind. The staff take us to placement in the morning and pick us up which made me feel very safe. Overall I’ve had an amazing experience.

I did my medical elective with The Mighty Roar in Tanzania, Moshi and I loved every single moment of it! The team and staff are what made my experience - they are so kind, thoughtful, and go the extra mile for everything. The accommodation was fine and staff helped facilitate a mirror and extension cable when needed, the AC worked fine too. Location was ideal, right next to door to a pool to spend the afternoons after placement. I felt very safe throughout my stay - a sentimental bracelet has gone missing from my room, which I notified staff about and who helped me look thoroughly, but weren’t able to find. The placement itself was good and eye opening - although sometimes was hard to be welcomed by some medical staff and gain experience (but of no fault of the mighty roar!). The safari/zanzibar/all the day trips were amazing. Overall, I loved my 6 weeks here and I’m very sad to be going !!

Medical Elective Tanzania
I completed my medical elective program with TMR in Tanzania and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. The communication from the team here has been excellent throughout my trip, which made the transition seamless and I immediately felt at home. I attended the trips that TMR offered, such as a safari weekend and a day hike up Mount Kilimanjaro, which I would recommend. The staff are all very friendly and are able to help with any issues that arise. The food is good and the accommodation is fine. Specifically for my medical placement, it did not feel particularly well organised however I note the challenges that must be overcome to facilitate us. Overall, I had an incredible time in Tanzania and met some incredible people who I will miss. I would recommend this experience to anyone who is considering doing their medical elective abroad.

First time solo traveling
First time solo traveling, went to Tanzinia and the team was amazing.
If I had any worries or anything before arrival they would answer emails very quickly.
And when I arrived the team here answered any questions I had no matter how small.
I always felt so safe here which made my experience even more enjoyable!
Staff at the accommodation where some of the nicest people ever and I have never experienced customer service like it!
I would definitely recommend mighty roar to anyone wanting to volunteer abroad.
I’ve made friends for life here and would 100% come back.

Partial refund offer withdrawn...
In April 2026 I left a 2 star review for TMR about my disappointing experience on the India programme, highlighting the lack of support and the pre-departure information being inaccurate. I also emailed them with further more detailed feedback. In response to this they got back to me acknowledging that the experience had not met expectations, and offered me a partial refund of the programme fee. They also, however, asked me to change or remove my review. I told them I wouldn’t change it because it was honest and fair; they then asked me to increase the rating, which I did not do, and then after I sent multiple emails chasing this partial refund they withdrew the offer. The reasons they gave for withdrawing the offer were because I apparently did not follow the code of conduct and did not return their goodwill. I don’t find either of these reasons very convincing; they didn’t specify what part of the code of conduct I supposedly broke, but I imagine it was something to do with not contacting the UK team with issues - something the local team specifically asked us not to do. Regardless, if my conduct was a problem, then I don’t understand why they offered me a refund in the first place. As for not returning their goodwill, I have been constructive and respectful in all of my communications with TMR, and the only way in which I have not cooperated with them is by not changing my original review, which I am under no obligation to do.
I find the timeline of these events very interesting - them offering a partial refund, asking me twice in no uncertain terms to change my original review, me refusing both times, and then the partial refund offer being withdrawn, despite the alternative reasons cited. I wonder what would have happened if I had agreed to change my review.
I don’t care about the money in this situation, but I wanted to share this experience as I think it suggests some pretty questionable integrity from TMR regarding reviews that people considering signing up should be aware of.
Making lifelong memories and friends
This was by far the most amazing experience of my life so far. I went alone for a week and came back with life long memories and friends! We were always looked after by the WONDERFUL staff members making sure we were safe while volunteering and seeing different parts of Moshi. I would recommend this trip to anyone, of any ages and any profession - I’m in software sales and I did teaching!
Thank you to the Mighty Roar team!

dog sanctuary
I did the Sri Lankan dog sanctuary volunteering for three weeks and really enjoyed it.
The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, and i felt that we had a reasonable ratio of free time to volunteering hours.
The people that I met were very friendly and open, and aside from some secondary school level cliques forming, everyone was very kind. I had an amazing time and have made some good friends.
The only things that prevented this from being a 5-star review were that sometimes the food (while tasty) was repetitive (lots of dhal!) and I ended up just going out for food a lot of the time, and that I was bitten by a dog and had to go to the hospital for a rabies vaccine booster. I don't blame the Mighty Roar for this because it was largely my own fault and I had managed to go almost three weeks in safety, but it did put a damper on my last few days.
The location was gorgeous, really close to the beach and we spent a lot of time there!

I spent 3 weeks with TMR in Tanzania this month. From arrival to the end of my trip the team here in Tanzania have been amazing! I done the Safari and Zanzibar weekend trips with TMR and they were both worth every penny! The hostel is clean, spacious and the food is good! The team cleans the rooms daily and there is a laundry service available too. I would really recommend spending time in Tanzania with TMR.

The best team ever!
This year was my second time volunteering with the mighty roar in Tanzania. Both times I’ve done the childcare placement and o couldn’t recommend it more. I will be returning every year & hope to get more people on board. The team in Tanzania are the kindest, loveliest people you will ever meet. No request is too big and they are more than happy to help with anything you need. I recommend them constantly to anyone that asks about my trips. The most amazing team - thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the life changing experiences. I will never forget them! ❤️
