Tried to intimidate me to pay them an extortionate amount or HMRC will fine me £1000. This was a complete lie. As I confirmed with HMRC, I do not have to submit a self assessment and there is no fine hanging over me. Swift Refunds assured me they would remove themselves as my agent - this was also a lie so I had to call HMRC again to do this.

Applied for a tool rebate in April and was told would be done in 8-12 weeks I am now 3 months short of a year later and still have not received my rebate. After numerous email and phone calls to no reply I assume either they just don’t want to deal with me now or have gone belly up.
They have also triggered 5 years of self assessments to be carried out where I could receive penalties when I and full time employed and do not need to do a self assessment.
Avoid this company at all costs

The agent keeps asking for fees first documents then transaction fee then fee for delay then replace bad cards new document fee new transaction. It just keeps piling up. Three months later still no refund and still asking for delivery and processing fee. The processing and delivery have been paid more than once

People make the business
My review today is based on the great customer experience from one Denise McDermott. The process with Swift Refunds was fine, a little clonky and communication was a little lacking but once I was assigned to Denise's desk my experience shot up. Her engagement with me was great, detailing every step, emailing my back straight away and even put in time to call me when requested to settle my concerns. I feel that if the business was built with Denise's then it would thrive more then it currently is. I hope the business rewards these type of employees and allows them to receive feedback such as this

Wouldn’t advise even getting started
Wouldn’t advise even getting started. Started my claim in July and still no further. I sent all details requested including going to bank to get statements for previous years. Got told everything was sent off in August got an email a couple of weeks later saying I needed to fill more stuff in even though I asked if they was anything else and they said no.. Again they said it was ready to be sent off then a couple of weeks later requested more things and to re upload my previous things so I did, got told it was getting sent off and I checked they had everything again which they said they did. Then yesterday received another email saying I need to fill 1 more thing out and it will be sent off so I did. But then today I’ve had an email saying they’ll be claiming for this year and I need statements for every month in previous years to claim but I could’ve sorted that 2 and a half months ago but did what they asked and double checked multiple times if they was anything else they needed, they’ve said this even though they told me to just get Aprils bank statements from each year I’m claiming. Randomly just get emails saying get started every week or so aswell so I’m not actually sure what there doing at all hahaha! NO HELP AT ALL THEY ONLY REPLY STRAIGHT AWAY WHEN THERE GETTING YOU TO SIGN SOMETHING!
Do not trust them or their agents
I would give a lower rating if I could.
My advice do not trust this company or their 'tax specialists' they have falsely advised me to go on self assessment saying I can claim back on all these due to my job role, when it turns out I can not actually claim for any of these things.
This has been ongoing since August 2024, they will say they have filed your claim but most likely won't or will come back saying they need more information to appeal (they know full well I wasn't eligible to claim) when you cant provide information they will tey charge you for it knowing you could never have got it anyway.
On top of this I've spent the last 5 months trying to be removed from self assessment with the HMRC
If you are even considering using swift refunds, I would strongly advise against it, unless you want ongoing issues with hmrc.
Absolutely awful
Absolutely awful, took ages to process the claim and then hid behind the HMRC doing checks to not process my claim further. I reckon they get one successful claim through for each place of work and then it gives them plenty of word of mouth recommendations. 1 person in our office was successful and then 5 of us weren’t even after being told we had a great chance. Started outing was getting one amount, then it was going to be less until it got to the claim being rejected despite me providing all information they requested. Then I was hit with a bill for each tax year claimed. Jonathan who originally dealt with my claim has now left the company. Maybe he found his conscience. Not sure I believe half these reviews either as I only know 1 person who has had a successful claim through Swift! Steer well clear!
