A total Sh$t show

A total Sh$t show. They had the B team show up only for them NOT to be able to install them. Then they said the motor was broken, then they rescheduled and then they cancelled the appointment. I am in for almost 10k 2 months later with nothing to show but a window. As of today, there still has not been anything installed. Good luck to anyone who thinks this company is top notch.

Beautiful but smelly…

The blinds are beautiful and arrived fairly quickly. We have had these in others home and they are really durable as well. Our only complaint is that the painted wood blinds are off gassing what I assume is the paint/finish odor. The smell is strong enough that we’ve had to open the windows even though it is winter. You might consider using more environmentally friendly finishes in the future.

Very unhappy

I placed an order and received the boxes pretty quickly. I was excited about getting everything installed before Christmas. The installer opened the boxes and rods for the living room drapes were too short. The dining room sheers were installed and the rod is sagging in the middle and the pattern looks nothing like the swatch I selected. The installer stated he has to order a center piece for support. I’m baffled because I’m thinking that as large as the window this information should have been known. The salesperson Joanne Conway elevated the issue to the quality department who reached out to me and now I’m waiting on a response. I have contacted Joanne Conway twice via phone and text and haven’t received a response. I would not recommend Smith & Noble to anyone my windows are incomplete and I’m hosting Christmas this year and I’m very unhappy. I’m going to contact corporate and request a refund. Buyer beware!

Expensive Junk - Broken and Unrepairable

I purchased four motorized skylight blinds and a sliding door shade from Smith & Noble in August 2021. The blinds were installed by Smith & Noble personnel on November 2, 2021. Earlier this year, the motorized operational cord for one of the skylights broke, rendering the shade unusable. The Smith & Noble warranty page clearly indicates that "Operational cords are warranted for five years from date of purchase" and "Motorized products and solar panel chargers are warranted for five years from date of purchase." I contacted Smith & Noble to start the warranty repair process and was told, despite what's on their website, that the warranty for skylight shades is only one year (the shade itself is fine - the motorized operational cord is the problem) and that they refused to honor their warranty. They offered no solutions, no refund, and no help. Further, they indicated that, while they have people to install the blinds, they would not send someone to diagnose and/or repair the issue, even at our cost. They refuse to honor their warranty and they've essentially told us that these very expensive blinds are junk after only two years.

Our Limited Lifetime Warranty does state> All Smith & Noble products are covered by a limited lifetime warranty. This warranty covers any defects in materials, workmanship, mechanism and operation, with certain exceptions, for as long as the original purchaser owns the product, provided that the product was installed according to our installation instructions and remains in the original window in which it was installed. Full details are available at smithandnoble.com/guarantee.

It also does stated the following exception: Arch & Skylight Shades
*Arch & Skylight Shades are warranted for one year from date
of purchase.

i HAVE A LONG HISTORY OF ORDERING AND INSTALLING S&N PRODUCTS FOR 25 YEARS, 2 RESIDENCES AND ONE MAJOR REMODEL/EXPANSION. i WAS A DO-IT-YOURSELFER EXCEPT WHEN i KNEW I MIGHT BE OUT OF MY DEPTH BUT "ORDINARY" RECTANGULAR WINDOWS NO PROBLEM FOR ME. LAST ORDER(S) WERE 2019, COMBINATION DIY AND DESIGNER. YOUR WEB SITE IS AWFUL - NO COLOR/SIZE/PRICING INFO!! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! THE ONLY REASON FOR 2 STARS VERSUS 0 OR 1 IS THAT I WAS CONTACTED BY AN IN HOUSE DESIGNER AFTER I LEFT AN UNHAPPY CUSTOMER VOICE MESSAGE. I ORDERED SAMPLES, GOT 6 OUT OF 8 AFTER COUPLE OF WEEKS. 2 BACK ORDERED, ONE JUST ARRIVED AFTER MORE THAN A MONTH AFTER MY REQUEST. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND S&N TO ANYONE!! BUT I AM DISAPPOINTED, ANGRY, AND WITHOUT GOOD OPTIONS OUT HERE IN REMOTE MIDDLE AMERICA. TOO BAD YOU DITCHED US HERE IN FLYOVER COUNTRY. THERE ARE A LOT OF US. Over the past 23 years I have ordered…

Over the past 23 years I have ordered from Smith & Noble, on-line, many window treatments for different homes I've lived in. Quality has been wonderful and I have enjoyed being able to view numerous options and fabrics. Apparently life with Smith & Noble is changing and no longer will we be able to order on-line, to place an order a designer must come to your home, at no charge and write up a potential quote.

I eagerly await my next Roman Shade order with wonderful linen fabric and cotton lining though this will be my last order with Smith & Noble. I have enjoyed being able to view, measure, select options and order on-line, no more!

Smith & Noble, 3-day Blinds and others, owned by Hunter Douglas, are now PREMIUM window treatments. As such, one must have a designer come to the home. I am a designer and therefore am quite capable of designing and choosing my own window treatments. Although I have enjoyed all that Smith & Noble has offered, I will be moving on to one of the many companies that offer 'ON-LINE' orders. Perhaps Hunter Douglas owns one of these companies too. I am saddened to leave Smith & Noble and the quality provided.

I NEED MY SHADES IMMEDIATELY!

I am very disappointed and upset at Smith & Noble. I made a large order of shades in early September of 2023. When I signed the cobtract, the sales person told me all the materials I had selected were available and the shades would be shipped in two weeks.

I had just bought a penthouse with glass outside walls throughout the kitchen, living area, and the den. It was very important that i get the shades right away because without them my wooden floors and furniture would be damaged by sun light.

Almost two months later, I got a small portion of the shades shipped and the remaining items are still pending. I still don't know when or if they will ship the remaining shades. The sun damage to my floors and furniture continue and the Company keeps saying that the materials are not available. I paid more than $8k for the shades upfront.

Smith & Noble has provided 3 different delivery dates and they have simply postponed the dates without any prior notice. Please try to avoid this company or be ready to be very disappointed and you and your money will be held hostage.

I made an order March 2023 for living…

I made an order March 2023 for living room, dining room, and family room. So much trouble with the order overall but was able to get living/dining room resolved on September 2023. The family room is two stories and measures 215 inches from ceiling to floor. The order was always missing panels and then I’m told the fabric cannot have a memory stitch (wave style) to make them gather per the pic I showed the designer at my appt and the customer sec and quality assurance personnel. These folks acknowledged that they understood, but the order still is not correct. They have made this order three times already. I want my money back!!!! Oh, and taking your money up front before receipt and acceptance is larceny! Smith and Noble has had a good run, time to give up custom drapery. Oh, a local interior design business said your designer should not have filled the order with the fabric I chose because it wasn’t ever going to look like the pic I showed in the design appt. And subsequently sent to customer sec and quality assurance. Bad business!!!!!

Warning! When shopping, we look at reviews, how long the company has been around, reputation, customer service, quality of products, guarantee and if they meet our requirements. Was I fooled? I should have known better from a 3.8 Stars company website, and a closed store in San Diego, Better Business Bureau 1.295 Stars coupled when a salesperson requires full payment at the time of order, you should think twice.

The initial consultation went smoothly, quickly and easily!

The initial installation was a bit of a disappointment as the window Roman shades were delivered wrinkled; when you pull up, they did not behave as they should have, the chains to roll up and down were loose, and the fabric was wrinkled and not hung properly. When questioned, the installer said they did not have a steamer and would be back on Monday. Why would you come to install custom drapes and not have the proper equipment? They also missed to order an extension rod. Waited on Monday, no call, no show. 2 weeks later, I got an email indicating the part was ordered.

Four weeks after the initial installment, I got the second installer; I got a text shifting my appointment from 10m to 12 pm - no worries. The installer comes in and proceeds to install the drapes, only to find out he didn’t install the extenders; needless to say, he had to take them down and re-install them.

Finished product Euro Track Heavy Wall Mount, heavily solid with fingerprints, curtains, measured incorrectly, too long, now with a puddle which I didn’t order and wrinkled. I ordered the Wave Fold Drapes, which feature “deep, smooth waves that always return to their distinctive look thanks to a shape-retaining header. Finished by hand with double-turned, blind-stitched hems and weighted corners for perfect draping”. Did I get this? Not even close-which was so disappointing. Why would the installer think this was ok? The curtains were wrinkled and entirely noticeable. Huge disconnect with installation!

I also ordered Flat Roman Shade, which was supposed to “hang flat, when lowered, folds neatly when raised for a clean line and modern style and elevated the decode of any room.” Did I get this? No, not at all! For the cost of 4 draperies, I could have purchased at a quarter of the price, a better product with the option of returning the items with no questions asked.

All four custom draperies did not even come close to what was described, delivered, and installed. What happened? Was this the problem of sales ordering the wrong draperies, delivery, and installation? What are your thoughts? Once, twice, to resolve the issue a third time is unacceptable! If you can’t fix the problem the second time, why would you think you can resolve the issue the third time? Because the complaint was escalated to a Manager annd you want to handle my issue personally? Are you saying that your customer service agents don’t have the authority to approve issues when delivery and installation go wrong?

What about the time and effort of moving furniture to prepare the area for the installer's time lost for waiting for a timely installation? Aggravation for seeing horrible custom drapery? Smith & Noble offers a Customer Satisfaction Guarantee with no refunds! Why? A customer is unhappy with the product, installation, or description and nowhere near what is delivered and installed. Why would a customer be a hostage of your customer satisfaction? All you want to do is pick up your custom draperies. I don’t want you to re-measure; I don’t want another product; I only want a complete refund. This is a hook and bait.

If you can’t get it right the first and second time, what makes you think you resolve the issue the third time?

May I have the email address of the President, VP of Operations, and Customer Care Advocate Manager?

Beautiful classic shades

I wrote a bad review after disappointment with how four shades had been manufactured for the bedroom . But I received the living room Classic Roman shades today and they are beautiful. The fabric and construction is perfect. They were so easy to install that anyone with a ladder and power drill could do it. I think Smith and Noble generally does a beautiful job. I have used them for over 20 years and I have always received wonderful help when I’ve had to call with questions regarding a product or measuring. My only complaint is customer service when there is an issue. My shades are gorgeous. Thank you.

Let me begin that my 1st service with…

Let me begin that my 1st service with Smith & Noble went great, so when I purchased a 2nd home, did not hesitate to use them. Over the years, this company has declined greatly. So many things wrong:
(1) Their professional consultant measured all the windows wrong, so every single valance had to be remade (not once, but 3 times for some of the valances)
(2) 1st Installer went to the wrong location (after I called the company to ensure he did not go to the billing address, but the service address), so had to wait for 3 hours that day.
(3) 2nd installer came, still not the right size, so had to measure and wait again for new valances
(4) Smith & Noble again got the location incorrect (after assuring me on the phone that they had it right). They had to cancel that appointment, so waited even longer.
(4) Finally got them installed on the 3rd visit
(5) Between all the things that went wrong, I was in contact with their Quality Assurance department. It took them 2 weeks after the 1st incorrect installation to contact me and then had to wait on the design consultant to submit her report (not sure why this is a step, when you can just tell she must have wrote down all the incorrect measurement?) So, another delay.
(6) When looking for a status, I had to check up on them to find out the Quality Assurance person was no longer there and someone else would help. Someone did ask for feedback when done and I wrote back that I was not happy, but never heard back from the 2nd Quality Assurance person.

My total purchase was over $11,000 and many weeks delayed with all the reordering (and 3 tries to get it correct?). With all the things that went wrong on their end, they did not even offer any kind of discount or refund.

I gave them 2 stars since I do like their blinds and their installers (all 3) were very nice. But a very disappointing experience with a company that charges such high prices and you would think was professional.

Excellent reps and customer service

After a long process of reviewing swatches, I ordered drapes for my living room. After placing the order, I was informed that the fabric had been discontinued. Molly Anderson was extremely helpful in guiding me through another choice, and making sure that everything was to my liking. The care and detail that she and the customer service reps took with the order was very professional. Despite the initial disappointment I had about my first choice, I could not be happier with the new drapes. Thank you Molly!
