This experience was very user friendly. It was easy to use. The tutorial showed exactly how to use without confusion.

I found the perfect editor for my manuscript. The whole process was a positive experience which helped to take my work to another level. I would use the platform again, and highly recommend it.

I did some reasearch on sotware to use for my first book. I could have bought my own software, it wasn't a money issue, but did I really want a thousand features and to spend three months learning how to use my writing software when I can barely find time to write. No. Reedsy Studio for me is brilliant because it is so simple to use, and intuitive, and you can start writing your book straight away and open it up at the touch of a button on any device, it's all saved instantly online, no version control issues. For me that has been a major catalyst for my writing actually progressing, before it was such a nightmare finding my 'place' and the right version of everything. The 'boards' help me organise everything so easily and I can flit from a character sheet back to the manuscript and then to my structure plan at the touch of a button. Yes you need to pay for more advanced features, I don't mind doing that at all, the cost is reasonable and will probably urge me to keep working on my book regularly to justify the monthly cost. But I don't have to pull the trigger until I really believe that this time, I'll truly write my book and not just start it - I'm still at the early stages where I'm organising stuff and laying out out the structure, which is why this software is so useful. No real comitment until you know you're really far into the writing process, far enough to chuck some money at it.

I had used another platform to publish my first two books. It was not user friendly. So, this time I tried Reedsy. What a difference! I did not have to worry about typesetting. It was done for me. The site is intuitive. It allows me to just paste my draft and it alignes everything perfectly. A real time saver.

Ease of use and transparency.

I absolutely adored this website, it was perfect for my writing, perfect for outlining, and always kept track of when you write. But today i was horrified to find out all my projects got deleted. I don't know how this happened or if this can be fixed, but until it is i can't with good consciousness recommend this site to anyone. Sorry for any grammar or spelling mistakes, english isn't my first language.

For authors who view their work as a technical system rather than just a manuscript, Reedsy provides the professional-grade transparency and talent pool necessary to execute high-stakes intellectual projects. The interface is clean, the vetting is rigorous, and the results are authoritative.

The writing experience is awesome, the dashboard is really user friendly, even as a non native English speaker. It's really easy to share with a coworker and the tools such as the planning boards are really useful while planning a novel. I would rate it as maybe the best system for writing and editing!

I experienced several serious issues with a designer on Reedsy for a book project that led me to request a refund. From the beginning, the work delivered did not align with what we had agreed upon. The designer did not follow the specifications outlined in the document I shared prior to accepting the project, and it became clear that the file had not been properly reviewed.

Communication was also a major concern. Throughout the process, my questions were frequently left unanswered, and responses were delayed, which slowed down progress and created uncertainty about the direction of the work.

Another key issue was transparency. The designer’s profile indicated that AI would not be used, yet the work delivered was clearly AI-generated. This resulted in an inconsistent, non-uniform style that does not meet the quality standards expected of a professional journal. At no point was this clarified, even when I initially complimented what I believed to be original hand-drawn work.

Additionally, tasks that were part of the original agreement, such as creating simple, consistent icons, were initially described as too complex. However, shortly afterward, the designer produced them quickly, though they still did not match the requested style or specifications. Instead of following the agreed direction, the designer implemented her own ideas, further deviating from the project brief.

Overall, the final result does not reflect the agreed scope, lacks consistency, and does not meet professional standards. Given the lack of adherence to the brief, poor communication, and misrepresentation regarding the use of AI, I believe a refund is justified.

very bad customer service. I want to cancel my free trial version. To make sure I will not be charged in 1 month. Nobody is answering. The system is so complicated to understand where to be able to cancel subscription. I guess on purpose. I am so upset. This is such a bad experience.

I used the Reedsy service to collaborate with a cover designer and a copyeditor. The interface was easy to use and gave me the confidence to work on my debut novel with two fantastic professionals.

Hi, I'm an amuteur writer and would like to say how easy Reedsy makes the editing process. I have hired the same developmental editor for my last 2 books (in series). The results have been excellent. She has the correct credentials, experience. Her work is top notch and easily accessible.

It is easy to get started. You can learn on the go and everything that matters is right in front of you.

I hired a cover artist through Reedsy whose proposal explicitly stated AI would be used in drafting only, with the final image being a hand-painted paintover. When I received the deliverables, the work looked so obviously AI-generated that I ran it through detection tools. The results came back at 99.9% AI, with Midjourney identified as the source. As a control, I tested artwork from other Reedsy artists using the same tool—every one came back at 0-1%. The detector wasn't broken. The work was.
That created a cascade of problems: AI-generated images can't be copyrighted in the US, so I don't legally own the covers I paid for. They put me in conflict with Amazon's AI disclosure rules. They're commercially unusable for a published book.
I filed a dispute through Reedsy's Project Protection. They sided with the artist, citing that "AI was disclosed somewhere in the proposal"—as if disclosing AI in drafting authorizes delivering 99.9% AI in the final product. When I asked them to require the artist to provide proof of the contracted paintover work, they refused.
So I filed a chargeback. Reedsy responded by banning me from new collaborations on their platform. I'm out $3,000, my book launches in two weeks, and I had to commission replacement covers from another vendor at my own expense.
If you're considering Reedsy, understand this: their dispute process protects the freelancer, not the client. And if you exercise your legal right to a chargeback, they'll punish you for it.

This is a very helpful site for writing any project you have. It includes built-in tools to help you format your book, along with a free export option for typesetting. It’s a great deal, and the site also offers access to editors, ghostwriters, and other professionals you can hire for additional help. Overall, it’s a great app, and if you’re writing a book, it’s a must-have.

Excellent experience twice. I've used two marketing specialists for my book promo off this site and both were extremely proficient and professional. They are obviously well screened and they are also rated by other customers which gives you more assurance. Will definitely be using again.
