If we could give zero stars we would..

If we could give zero stars we would... We have reported to Citizens Advice and Trading Standards, the police and our banking.

We are a renewables company in Hull and we have a kitchen macerator fitted upstairs which has become blocked. We found the number of the company and decided to give them a call. They stated the call out fee is £49 which is great that's what all companies charge and when we asked the fee thereafter they couldn't give us a price and stated they would tell us on site when they've assessed. We asked for an hourly rate which again they couldn't give. The engineer arrived and didn't speak a word and said leave it with him. He came in 15 minutes later to say it'd been fixed but may need a switch fitting if problem occurs. Again we had no issue with this, he said payment is due and to wait for a call. I said is it £49 and he got extremely cagey! A lady called and we asked for an invoice as we are a business, but she asked us to pay cash to the engineer. As a business we cannot do this, about 40 minutes later a rough, badly written invoice comes through stating a price of £420. We refused to pay it and managed to get it down to £149 which they weren't happy with to the extent the engineer loitered on site for 2 hours! We had to call 101 to get him to leave.

Although called Best Technicians, the invoice came from 24/7 Best Emergency and bank details were to Fast Gas Plumbing Ltd!

Citizens Advice and Trading Standards are making a case against them.

Oh - and our macerator is worse than before and now leaking!

If I could give this company Zero I…

If I could give this company Zero I would. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Had an electrician to my home. I was made aware of a £49 call out charge only. On arrival the electrician who was very polite said he could do nothing and I had to go via The power grid. The call handler told the electrician to take the £49 call out charge. She then text the Electrician to take £120. I disputed this charge as no work had been completed. Less than a 5 minute visit most of that was disputing the cost of the visit with the call centre. The Electrician said he would need to come back later as the power grid would not connect the supply to my home after the issue was fixed. The call handler agreed to take the £49. Since this time repeated phone calls asking when the electrician would be coming back. Whilst dealing with having no power… having to have an emergency generator to get power to my home temporarily and then the side of my home dug up the drive and the road to get power to my home I had continued calls from this company. I have now received an invoice for the rest of the money requested for the zero work completed.
The power grid connected my home at no cost
Reported to citizens advice and trading standards.
DO NOT USE

Thank you for your reply but I would never use your company ever again. The price was not quoted upfront by the electrician at all! This is untrue!
Taking money for no work! You should be ashamed

I contacted who I thought was a reputable company as I was having trouble with my boiler. The person who answered the call informed there would be a £49.00 call out fee, which I agreed to as it was a Sunday. The engineer who arrived was very quiet and didn't engage in conversation. After 15 minutes a man rang to say the job had been completed and the cost would be £440.00. which I refused to pay the full amount, informing him I didn't have that amount of cash. He became quite abrupt demanding I did a bank transfer. I informed him I didn't have the money in my bank account to which he demanded I show the engineer my bank statement. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I informed him I would give the engineer £200.00 in cash and wouldn't give anymore until I had checked the company out. The man then started to negotiate slowly dropping the price from £440.00 to £250.00. He rang my phone consistently 12 times. The engineer who obviously knew the set up was happy to take the £200.00 and run. This lot need to be ashamed of themselves trying to rob honest decent people. It just made me think of an old person on their own listening to the demands of the guy on the phone. A total disgrace. They also work under the name of 24/7

WAS TOLD IT'S WAS £49 which my elderly parents would of been fine with electrician arrived as electric had been tripping he was there 30 min at the most testing sockets to tell me it was the fridge freezer then demanded £350 for my parents my father refused and stupidly said £250 as he felt forced he paid cash and wasn't given a receipt my parents were extremely upset by this as you can imagine I tried to contact the company who said they didn't send anyone to the property absolute scammers I will be reporting this company to trading standards and the police has we have footage of the electrician on camera my mother was only told it would be £49 yet when I rang them up they told me it's was £49 call out charge then £180 an hour for labour he was there 30 min in total and wanted £310 my father refused and stupidly paid £250 got no receipt either absolute rip of company avoid at all costs!!!!

RIP off - do not use

These guys are an absolute rip off. They tried to charge me £330 ex VAT for 1 hour labour charge. The technician was in and out my house within 35 minutes.
Absolutely joke, I’ve had to go to trading standards about this as they also just wouldn’t get back to me via email and when you call to complain they say they can’t put you through to anyone.

These people commit fraud

These people commit fraud. DO NOT USE THEM.
They used intimidation techniques by demanding the job be paid without an invoice. They refused to leave my premises whilst I queried their very vague invoice - that had no details or report of the job also without tradesman reference number.
Emergency call out charged despite me booking it 48 hours in advance.
Two men stayed in my flat with my female tenant - refusing to leave for over 1.5 hours ( I thought they had left )
When I said I was sorting it out with their office ( they had a woman answering a phone to pretend they represent them) they started to threaten to rip it the sealant- shouting and being very aggressive. I've informed the police and trading standards.
Charge £394 for SEALANT job that took less than an hour. Immoral operators.

Do not use. Phoned for a plumber for a leak in kitchen. £49 call out charge, 2 hrs labour £400. Job still not done. Came out following day and still didn't fix the leak £150 later. No invoices. Called another plumber, fixed leak within 10 mins with a washer. Using Google guarantee to claim money back and reporting to trading standards. No land line and mobile number frequently changes.

This is scam company never go near…

This is scam company never go near them. I had F2 fault showing on my boiler and no hot water. I Called them on 5/7/24, they sent in engineer. He claimed there’s a leaking pipe so he changed it. After changing pipe or fixing the leak the boiler lost power. I had to called in about 3 gas safe engineers and all could not fixed it. In the end I had to buy new boiler. This scammers after destroying my boiler were demanding £625 for changing about 3-4 inch long pipe. If you really want your peace of mind please run away from them.

TOTAL SCAM - FRAUDSTERS…

Qouted £49 call out and when asked about extras just said any additional parts and labour would be extra. No mention of hourly or minimum charge whatsoever. Electrician turned up 4 hrs late and the remedy was trigger switch on the circuit bosrd needing flicking. Took 1 min from his arrival to doing - I then get a phone call stating I owe £322. Total scam - Avoid at all costs. The business operates under a number of business names 24/7 emergency, Best Technicians and many more. They operate from an accommodation address, If you do not ask for a full breakdown of possible charges you are 100% sure to get ripped off. I am passing on details to Trading Standards and BBC Watchdog.

The company are borderline scammers!

We required our kitchen tap fixing as it was spraying water all over the wall behind it. I just want to clarify that I am not unhappy with the plumber sent as he was extremely professional and did an amazing job. The company disclosed to us a call out fee of £50 which we agreed with. On the phone we were told that there would be labour and parts charges. However, no parts were needed in the end and the job took 15 minutes. We were told over the phone during payment that we made a late call out. However, we called in the middle of the afternoon and were told that a plumber would be here in an hour to an hour and a half. He turned up at 1900 (four hours later) but through no fault of his own. Again this isn’t a dig at him. The company did not call me to tell me that he was running late at all.
In total we were charged £349 for a 15 minute job with no materials needed. I think this is completely unacceptable as labour costs were not disclosed to me on the phone. I feel scammed and will be making a formal complaint.

A few days following the tap broke again. Just to add salt to the wound ! No invoice was sent to us either.

Another update: following my review I can see that Best Technicians has replied. It seems that they have copied and pasted the exact same response to me as they have to other negative reviews.

Asked about costs was told £49 for call out. Worked out I could fix simple problem myself so called back within 15mins to cancel. Was told I owed the £49 call out charge. Explained there had been no mention of cancellation fees and asked for their cancellation policy. Much dithering at her end. Hung up. Avoid. Weird to see they have 150+ reviews at 5 star...Fake.
