I am unimpressed by the recent reduction in distribution rate for Premium Bonds. Sends the wrong message to investors. The fixed term Savings Bond rates are also not very competitive.

Poor savings rates
NSandI online is easy to use but their savings rates are appalling and are not competitive. The government is quite happy to borrow from money markets at far higher rates of interest than they offer savers. Why don't they improve rates for savers and raise money from the general public instead.

Easy to buy and sell premium bonds. Computer helpfully asks if the sale should complete after the next draw.

Sadly Premium Bonds are paying out a pittance at the moment.
I wish I'd invested in gold sovereigns instead.
