I have made a formal complaint about…

I have made a formal complaint about the clean I had today by Monster Cleaning.

I booked a £200 full clean of my flat ahead of selling my property.

Firstly, it is completely unacceptable that I found two of the 3 cleaners working in my property without face masks. Monster Cleaning told me when I booked this clean in that their cleaners would be with masks. When one of the team came to my door today they were not wearing a mask, I asked her to put it on, she went down to her vehicle to do that. When I got up about 5 minutes into the clean to see how they were all getting on I saw that the other two were not wearing masks. I had to send them down to get their masks. Their cleaners are going house to house and not wearing masks and risking people's health, that is completely unsafe and unprofessional.

During the clean I realised that the cleaners had used a very wet mop on my expensive laminate floor, leaving the water sitting there whilst they mopped the whole flat. Luckily I caught this and asked her to dry it immediately. They should know, but apparently do not from my call with their office today that you absolutely do not use a very wet mop on a laminate floor. It is can ruin the floor, causing it to buckle and the boards to bend, because they get saturated. I am shocked that professional cleaners are unaware of how to clean in line with recommendations for laminate, which is a damp mop not a very wet mop, and an immediate dry.

The cleaners scratched my glass tv cabinet, about a 3 inch scratch, I attach a photo.

When I booked this work in I was clear what I wanted doing, at the start of the job I ran them through what was needed, this included doing the kitchen cupboards on the inside but not the kitchen drawers. I was very clear. They didn't clean in the cupboards.

My skirting boards were untouched, thick with dust still. They didn't clean down the side of the fridge. They didn't clean in the shelves in my kitchen.

They didn't dust my tv cabinet or bookshelves properly.

When I booked this job in I was told it would take about 4-5 hours. They were here less than 3 hours and were late for another job according to you - so they clearly booked in a job knowing they had to do a rush job.

Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Faultless service

Why can’t I leave a no star review?

Why can’t I leave a no star review?? The people who came to clean were nice, I don’t think there is any training giving to their staff at all. I have complained but not got a satisfactory response. 10% off next clean is no good as they don’t clean.......so basically they have got my money for nothing. I kept my side of bargain and paid them. They didn’t keep their side of bargain. They did not clean satisfactorily. Do not use this company.

Monster Cleaning Services “shameful”

Monster Cleaning Services have cleaners that don’t know what professional cleaning means!
When we showed pictures of a dirty flat that their cleaners left after three hours of their cleaning , management was blaming our tenants for that and refused refund.
Shocking!

They are very unprofessional. Avoid them

I made it clear in several emails that I wanted the walls and ceiling of my kitchen washed, with special attention to above the cooker. The women who were sent refused to do this. There was discussion on the phone between them and their manager after which they said they were going and left. I had taken a day off work and had spent the evening before and the morning completely clearing everything off the surfaces and out of all the cupboards in preparation for this clean. Steer clear of them.

Company communication was great

Company communication was great, cleaner was polite and friendly and arrived in the specified time. The oven had not been cleaned for a long time and I was very happy with the results. I would use the company again.

Mediocre oven clean, especially given the price.

The outside of our Rayburn was left shiny on large surfaces, but the hotplates have detritus around all the edges which could be removed with a brush, and seven of the eight lid sides are still dirty; the cleaner evidently completed one, then forgot or got bored and left the others. Not a single tray was cleaned, though we expected at least one to be done (monster advertise one free tray cleaning with a single oven, two with a double). Superficially cleaner, but not the deep clean we had expected, with a visible mm or two of grime left along all edges. At £116 for a job which took about one hour, we will not be using Monster again. Not a deep clean and barely a standard clean at any rate

Service provided did not at all live up to what was expected. The people who arrived to do the clean were nice and did a job, just not a thorough job. I am not sure if that is just the cleaners themselves or likely to be the company's standards. They arrived and did what i believe to be a very quick vacuum of the two carpeted bedrooms. And then the 'deep' steam clean. However, the whole process for both rooms was done in half an hour or less and that was at a cost of £53. What i also found weird, they only accept cash payment (which i wasn't aware off) and didn't have cash on me. Then they keep you on the phone to do a bank transfer instead and only give you an hour to pay it from receipt of the invoice.
Furthermore, the carpets have to be left to dry so of course you cannot verify the extent of the clean at the time the cleaners are there to raise any issues as nothing can be verified. Later on, I ran a vacuum over the carpets and the amount of dirt that it still picked up was astonishing. We have a bush vacuum cleaner and just from going over one bedroom, the cylinder container was half full of dirt. i sent these pictures to the company and they advised they can send out someone to do an 'inspection' to see if it was an issue at our end but if they had done a 'good job' it would come at a cost of £30 to myself to bring out the inspector. The only thing they could offer is to redo the clean if it was at fault of their cleaners which would have been useless to me as we have furniture now put into the rooms, and we have additionally done another clean on top so of course the carpets would be cleaner than after the cleaners left it. No further solutions would be provided by the company and i was just given an oh well, 'All services have been deemed to be carried out the client's satisfaction as you were there on the day of the job and accepted the end result'. Find another company who will do the job they actually advertise and promise

Far from a deep clean...just a very expensive standard clean

I booked a deep clean for a new rental property and paid over £500 for a full house deep clean (20 hours) plus a steam clean of some carpets.

The experience began well with the first 2 (out of 4) cleaners arriving on time. I ran through the list of priorities and placed a strong emphasis on the need to do a top to bottom clean of the kitchen and bathroom areas. Despite this, the two cleaners said they would start upstairs and that the two others would begin later on in the kitchen.

Long story short, at the end of the day I had quick look around the house and found that everything seemed fine. The cooker had been cleaned inside thoroughly and the team had done a good job on the window frames upstairs. A good job had also been done inside the various fridges and freezers. However, there was a large amount of grease still left on the kitchen walls above the cooker and I was advised that it couldnt be cleaned with their equipment without damaging the walls/paint. I said that it wasnt an issue as we were repainting anyway so the guy had a quick scrub and then said he could do no more (at this point they seemed very keen to get out and go home). I would have expected that being a professional deep cleaning company they would be able to remove the grease with either a steam clean or some chemicals? Instead ordinary scouring pads were the proposed solution. Hmm...maybe could have just done that myself...? Grouting was also left dirty and when pointing this out I got a simple shrug of the shoulders since they didnt really fully understand what I was saying...At this point anyway the time was getting on and there seemed little point in trying to get them to hang around as they were already half way out the door...I'll just do it myself later on I thought.

Several days later I moved the fridge and freezer out to carry out some painting. I couldnt believe the state of the walls and floor behind these appliances, and also the sides of the fridges/freezers were filthy. I subsequently queried this with Monster and was told that it is company policy for cleaners to not move electrical items. Ok fair enough but if it stops the job from being done properly surely it should be mentioned at the time! Not once did a member of the cleaning team come to me and at least ask if I could move these appliances, or if they needed to be cleaned behind! For a deep clean surely this is quite obvious given I specifically said everything in there needs cleaning top to bottom? I then checked down the side of the cooker and found a similar issue - plenty of grease down the side and loads of dirt on the floor.

Overall, despite signs of some decent cleaning work, and some good initial communication from the company before the job was carried out, I was not impressed with the level of work given the amount of money I paid out.

At £449 for 20 hours of work this works out at £22.45 per hour. I can pay my standard cleaner half of this and achieve the same results. If you are going to market yourself as a professional cleaning company capable of carrying out a deep clean then you could at least make sure your team dont clean only those areas that are immediately visible, or those specifically mentioned by the client. Perhaps it is my fault and I should have then spent 1 hour going through the house with a fine toothcomb picking apart each and every item. But then I'm sure this would have cost me another 2 lots of £22.45 while they waited around...

I dont like leaving bad reviews on public forums and was hoping this could have been resolved by speaking directly with the company. All I asked for was for someone to pop back and clean the rest of the kitchen which should have been done properly to begin with...and would likely have taken less than 1 hour. It was the number 1 priority given on the day. Instead the proposal was that I would PAY for someone to come back since it would be classed as additional work. At £22.45 per hour I think I will pass on that...and I suggest you do the same

Cleaner turned up on time and worked…

Cleaner turned up on time and worked very hard on my double oven which had been long neglected. The result seems incredible.The kitchen was left in a very tidy condition.The company had phoned me twice beforehand in a very professional way to confirm the appointment. and the arrangements for parking. Will seriously consider investigating their other cleaning services.

Booked oven cleaning service

Booked oven cleaning service, arrived 30 minutes late. I used this company over a year ago and they were 3 hours late! Gave them the benefit of the doubt. Okay job done on the cooker but some marks left on the window, when asked he shrugged and mumbled something I couldn't understand (English was not his mother tongue and communication to tell him where to park was a bit of a struggle). He asked for the cash once complete but of course strategic pricing means that unless you have exact change you ain't getting any change back, so he walked away with a £4 tip and didn't retaliate with even a smile. Overall okay but wouldn't use again.

UPDATE: after posting the review the company contacted me to offer a refund of my change plus some which I have now received. They have offered their apologies and also offer a discount on any future services and a named contact for any services going forward.

My tenant forgot to arrange a cleaning

My tenant forgot to arrange a cleaning, so I quickly searched around and found Monster. I had to call them a day before the tenant moved out, but they managed to fix me with a cleaning team. All I can say is that they did a perfect job and I got steam cleaning for just £30! Check out report confirmed it, they even cleaned the front door. Happy to have their details for future services, as they said they are expanding their service range. I'll definitely will use them again.
