Having been with the Halifax INSURANCE for a number of years I received my renewal price which has increased by 15% so I sent an email to say cancel it as I have found a better price elsewhere. Immedi... Mehr ansehen

Halifax use inadequate solicitors
Over the past decade, I have been a valued customer of Halifax Home Insurance, which has provided comprehensive coverage, including legal assistance in the event of disputes. In August, I initiated a legal action against a boiler insurer for breach of contract. The case was straightforward, and I was confident in its potential for a favorable outcome.
I submitted my claim to Halifax Insurance, who promptly connected me with their insurer, Arc Legal. Arc Legal acknowledged the validity of my legal insurance case and promptly provided all relevant details to a solicitor named Lyons Davidson.
However, Lyons Davidson’s representation was inadequate. Instead of diligently examining my case, they attempted to find every possible loophole to invalidate my claim. It is evident that Arc Legal (the insurer) and Lyons Davidson (the solicitor) are actively working to undermine the validity of my claim.
The legal advice provided by Lyons Davidson was severely lacking in depth and expertise. Consequently, I have made the difficult decision to cancel my insurance policy with Halifax.
We had an Engineer come out from Hoover…
We had an Engineer come out from Hoover Candy who flooded our kitchen. So spoke to their insurance and was told to get all quotes and send in to them. I expained to them i was disabled and could not do it. Anyway spoke to Halifax who our insurance is with, dont worry we can sort it for you and we will claim all the money back form Hoover Candy. Anyway my insurance went up this year by £120 and this is because i had a claim. Right yes i had a claim but was informed by HALIFAX that once they get their money back then the claim wont go against me. Well that is one big massive lie. I have just had a cal from them saying now you had a claim end of. So i have been shoy in the back from Halifax as they told me lies that the claim once paid back to them from the 3rd party my claims will be nil. These people just tell you what you like to hear then stab you in the back. Complete robbers.
Had a small leak in May
Had a small leak in May, it’s now the end of October. I sorted my own flooring out, sorted quickly. They sent people to redo the bench seat, they used Highbury Homes. To say it’s an awful job is an understatement. Screws sticking out, wonky lid, nails sticking out, paint on the kitchen units. This just names a few problems. Do not use this company.
Dodgy renewal practices
Moved to Halifax 1 year ago, decent policy and price. This year I spotted only on my bank statement that the renewal premium had been hiked by 20% (no renewal advice had been sent). Got on their web site to get their phone number, found a page asking whether I was considering leaving. Said yes, due to the price, got a page that said "we may be able to offer you a lower price". Got a new quote - up only 1.4% this time. Accepted. Dodgy business practice all round. Then I come here and wish I'd checked Trustpilot before, judging by the difficulties getting a claim dealt with.
Absolutely disgusted
Absolutely disgusted. After 3 weeks wait and then when got all quotes together was declined. Was told a pipe block it wasn't and it had caused a major water problem in lounge, roof company said it was a lead problem on bay. Was told it would fail if was guttering all done on a app !!!! So after one claim in 40 years I'm done. Need £2000 to sort. Waste of time having insurance covers nothing even with my extra emergency cover. Avoid this insurance at all costs. Two days later send new rate extra £70 a year cancelling asap
Absolutely disgraceful
Absolutely disgraceful. We've never ever had a claim in and this year for the first time we have had to. Once they give you a claim number you don't get a reply to your e mails, they cut you off on a phone call, unless you phone again and say its emergency, where they then say sorry systems playing up can't get on. Who by the way when he did pick up the phone he sounded like I'd just woke him up. 😡
Absolutely shocking customer service
Absolutely shocking customer service. I reported my claim in July . I am still living in a demolish site in my dinning room and kitchen, bathroom since my leak. Halifax arranged for Polycon to attend my property to assess the damage . Polycon decided to take my 1/2 dining room wall back to brick and remove my dry lining, certainly not instructed by me. One would think the Halifax who assigned this company would check what work they are doing on customers Homes and if this meets within the policy.
Now the Halifax say the dry lining has to be paid for by me - why I never assigned the company nor did I instruct them to remove my dry lining ! Halifax say we will plaster the wall and paint it but won’t put you back in a habitable home due to their instruction to an outside agency and inform me that with out the dry lining I will have damp and the same issues! WOW. My complaint handler has been on holiday - a very long holiday since July clearly - and I have had zero updates or contact, absolutely shocking. From what you think is a huge organisation what a disappointing service all round. To think I paid my full 12 month Premium up front to receive such an appalling service when I needed them. I now have a complaint registered with them which I am told is 8 weeks for my final response . What another 8 weeks since July for you to get your act together. REALLY?
Appalling service
Appalling service. They do not pick up the phone. I’ve tried for several days to contact them following storm damage to my roof. No response for 5 days. Phone cuts off. Resorted to their appalling online claim system. They said an email had been sent, nothing received. Had to get roof repaired, they now say I should have waited. I will be taking my claim to the Financial Ombusdman and suggest anyone in a similar position does the same. Disgraceful.
The customer service is zero
The customer service is zero. Sent in a claim and no acknowledgement, ring them and the system just puts down the phone, no one is prepared to speak to you, no one is interested.
Claim paid in a week
Our kitchen ceiling collapsed due to a leak and the claim with Halifax couldn't have been easier. After uploading pictures and a quote for repairs, the money was paid in a week. Thank you to the brilliant Chloe in Claims and well done Halifax - so much better than other insurers I have had to deal with!
SHAME ON YOU HALIFAX
Absolutely unbelievable - Halifax have left an 85 year old woman with dementia with a rejected insurance claim when a tile dislodged on her roof in a storm and her living room ceiling collapsed - ALL WHILE SHE WAS AWAY ON HOLIDAY - she is naturally distraught having never claimed on her insurance in her life and being made to feel like a scam claimant. Furthermore they say building and contents means if they decline roof repair then NOTHING is covered as it is a joint policy. SHAME ON YOU HALIFAX. What is insurance for if not an event like this? They used receipted evidence of previous maintenance to take the view that the roof was not maintained and sent an extremely rude loss adjuster who identified a dry old stain as the current issue and was rude and abrupt to an old lady with dementia who could not follow what he was saying. SHAME ON YOU HALIFAX.
Avoid Avoid Avoid!!!!
Absolutely useless, they put every obstacle under the sun in your way to stop you claiming!!! Advisor was very condescending too. I will cancel my policy with immediate effect, and would never insure with them again!!!! Not surprised all their reviews are awful based on my experience with them they are all true!!!!
Absolutely no point having a Halifax…
Absolutely no point having a Halifax credit card, it's always being blocked. Making difficult situations for me. Time to end.
Started a claim on 22nd July and still…
Started a claim on 22nd July and still waiting for a responce, everytime I call for an update I get told you will get a call back in 2 days. The claim handler that came on a home visit treated me like she was a MI5 agent. I will never use Halifax again avoid at all cost.
0 STAR
It’s not emergency home cover, I don’t know what it as it doesn’t even resolve or try to resolve your emergency
No update, no communication, my claim was registered as complete on the bank home manager yet nothing had been done. Haven’t had hot water since Friday, I have informed customer service I live with a vulnerable child and it’s a health and safety issue but this has been ignored totally
dirty tricks
not even one star for this appalling and charlatan outfit, and in my opinion, any one should be able to award no star at all. My wife and I paid the whole premium in advance for building and contents, and also emergency cover. This was in November of 2023 to begin on the 24th. When we experienced a leaking roof and contacted the halifax, to keep it short they refused to pay for, or to carry out any repairs at all, because "we had not had more than 25mm of rain in a 24 hour period and the wind speed had not exceeded 50 kilometers per hour for 30 days". regardless of the fact that we had water running down the wall in our lounge and it was raining. when I gently suggested that this was a little ridiculous, the young lady to whom I was speaking, and I know that she was simply repeating what she had been instructed to say, told me that that it was stated in the booklet that we had not received until after we had taken out the policy and paid in good faith, all via the internet site.
still extremely annoyed and confideent that I will not have my premium refunded, which would be the decent thing for the halifax to do.
I will henceforth remain, an implacable enemy to all things Halifax related and will direct all of my family and friends in this vein.
James Whitehead.
House insurance increase for no reason at all
I had a house insurance with Halifax for a year. The renewal quote was 15% higher than last year for no reason at all. I had not made a single claim. It's a good job I had stopped auto-renewal.
I am now insuring with another provider which is costing me less than what Halifax quoted me the year before. (23% savings).
Don't put up with cowboy tactics and poor service. Change your provider.
Very slow turnaround, no urgency
Kitchen ceiling fell through due to an unkown leak in bathroom, on may 23rd lots of damage. We are now on Aug 15th and they still haven't done the work, timescales are horrific, they've had to move me out I have a baby under 1, I'm living out of cardboard boxes. The contractors they use are rude and make you feel like a nuisance when you call. Spoke to them yesterday and they are now saying the contractors lead time they can't start until October, bare in mind my property isn't habitable. I'm so angry, do not recommend.
Samsung 50 inch TV accidentally knock…
Samsung 50 inch TV accidentally knock off TV Table when pulled out to retrieve my grandchild toy. Im not able to kneel down due to knee replacment so reason it was pulled out.
Turned round and knock TV over onto carpet....No external damage as managed to break the fall holding onto one of the legs. But unfortuantly something internal had failed and the TV wouldn't work meaning no picture at all.
Call Halifax insurance's and I was asked to complete a form and include photos or a Video...well added a photo but rejected as this didn't show anything other than a blank TV screen so tried to upload a video but struggled with that as to large to upload 20 second video I personally found this to hard to do.
TV collected by electrical engineers I was told they are not to investigate the TV operation in my home or on my propery it had to be taken away for inspection yet this was ignored and they plugged TV in and tried to get it working but failed to.
Few days later they called me to say it was down to wear an tear and not covered under acidental damage and samsung would cover this under warranty normally but its a year out of warranty? . If it was under warranty and I admitted truthfully it had been knock off the table as mentioned the warranty would be void and they would say accidentally damaged so I can't win either way so Halifax home insurance is in my experience this is not fit for purpose...I have the top Gold cover new for old? I tried to fully cover myself but it doesn't work when you need it.
I have made a complaint but got me no where waist of time .
Just to add there was a £100 access and told more than once this might affect my insurance renewal... just to scare me off making the claim.
