Card is constantly declined when there is money in the right place, takes ages for that to update when transferred, child being embarrassed on busses etc (as am I, the parent embarrassed when she’s calling me from the bus to say her card is declined when it has money on it) she has just had her card declined again in a shop (M&S) where she was trying to buy ingredients to cook herself and me dinner tonight at age 12. she’s had to leave it all and massively embarrassed again as she had to put it all back. Balance of £36 on her card and constantly declined for £19 worth of shopping. Bus tickets declined if she has less than £5.60 on her card even though her bus ticket is £2 or £3.60. I can’t just have pounds on this card if we can’t spend them!

I am sorry to hear about the difficulties your daughter has been experiencing when using her card. We completely understand how upsetting and embarrassing it must be for her to have her card declined, especially when travelling on the bus or trying to buy ingredients in store. I know how important it is for her to feel confident and independent when using her gohenry card, and we’re sorry that this hasn’t been the experience you’ve both had.
As discussed, I have looked into the information available to us, and I haven’t been able to locate any declined transaction attempts at M&S. I can, however, see that a transaction with Go South Coast was declined due to insufficient funds on the 2nd of October. Funds were subsequently added to the account, and the transaction was then successful.
We appreciate how frustrating this must be, particularly when you’ve made sure there’s money on the card and expect it to be available when your daughter needs it. We would like your daughter to be able to use her card with confidence.
I have sent you an email advising you on how to replace her card on the app, and please dont hesitate to contact us in the future if you have any further questions.
