Dodgy with the money
Was hiring from them. Had a minor accident in which the front bumper of the car was damaged. Informed them right after it happened. Returned the car on the next day and I was given two options. Either to keep the car and repair it myself or return it and they keep my deposit. The deposit is £500. The excess charge for their fully comprehensive insurance is £500 too. I was told that if the repair is for more than £500, they will keep the amount of the remaining three days of prepaid rent as well. Then I thought something was dodgy. I contacted them few days after I returned the car (and after I saw the car repaired on A40 towards Heathrow). I explained my concerns for the remaining rent and asked them why would they keep it, when they offer fully comprehensive insurance and the claim fee is £500. I was assured that I will receive the amount for the three days rent in 30 days. The car was returned on 03/03/2020. I contacted them on 22/04/2020 and I was told that they do not owe me anything, since the T&C's state that damages are responsibility of the driver. I have paid my excess charge of £500. Why would you repair the car for higher price and then tell me that I am not owed anything? Why are you even advertising fully comprehensive insurance, when it is of no use at all? When I asked for a breakdown of the price for the repair, I was told that they can not supply me with such at the moment due to the lockdown. Probably they can not access their office. But even if this is the case, how it was possible to supply me with copy of the T&C's signed by me when I first rented from them if they have no access to the office documentation? I was also not supplied with list of the damages covered by the insurance, neither the T&C's of the policy itself. They said that they believe that the first page of the policy which was given to me was sufficient for my needs. Let me tell you something - It is not sufficient, due to the lack of information I have requested. They also try to sort everything over the phone. Don't fall for that, people. If you are currently renting with them, then ask for every important conversation to be held via email, so you don't need to think how you can prove what they have told you.
It is a shiny and well presented company, but unfortunately with rotten core.
