Subpar service

Ok if you book the air and land with them and don’t want to spend additional time. Otherwise, run.

The package looked great. Initially it was booked incorrectly. I had to advise they had missed the last part of the trip. That was fixed. Then I needed to know roughly what time that last portion would happen, so I could book my flight home. No answer. Then told I would receive my itinerary 3 weeks before departure. I again explained what I needed. No answer. I pointed out the issue. An apology but no action.

It meant I had to book additional accommodation because I couldn’t get a simple piece of information. Never again.

This is a hard review to write because…

This is a hard review to write because the conflict in the world caused delays but previous to that I felt that we were forgotten a few times when I was awaiting answers on questions I had to keep on sending another email to get response , Our trip with Deals Away was being slotted into our 12 week tour of Europe & I struggled with the delays on confirmations as it caused issues with the rest of the trip . In the end it was time to depart & we were travelling for 3 weeks before final confirmations came thru 1 week before departure for our Bordeaux cruise , it was a very stressful time .
In saying that the package deal was great when we finally got there , our pre cruise accomodation was very good & great locations & the cruise was really lovely , all meals , all drinks included, the cabin was comfortable & spacious , good bathroom also. There were only 4 other English speaking guests on board so we were all seated together by the cruise director & we really did have s lovely time , so in the end it was enjoyable ,

I have to say that Ellyse was very helpful, kind, and understanding throughout the process. However, our experience with the first hotel in Delhi was extremely disappointing. It was very, very dirty . Mould everywhere the smell was so bad and we even saw dried urine on the toilet seat. This was actually the second room we were given after requesting a change, which made it even more frustrating. Unfortunately, we had to stay in those conditions for two nights despite paying for a 4star hotel.(I checked other hotels in the same area and found much better options available for a lower price, which was quite upsetting.)

On a positive note, our driver and tour guides were friendly and professional. However, the overall planning of the tour felt rushed. We didn’t have enough time to properly experience or engage with the cities we visited. In fact, we wouldn’t have seen the more authentic, everyday side of Delhi if we hadn’t insisted on changing the hotel ourselves.

Overall, while there were some good aspects, the accommodation and rushed itinerary significantly affected our experience.

Duoro river cruise

We're looking forward to joining a cruise in the Duoro valley in a few days time. Ellyse has been courteous & helpful. We had to change flights as Qatar Airlines were not travelling; Ellyse updated the hotel for changed arrival time. She also gave some guidance about a booking with Vueling Airlines.

Best Holiday!

The staff

The staff, all of them are super friendly, bubbly, patient and helpful. I probably called then a million times and asked them a bazillion questions... they were consistently amazing and helpful every single time. A special shout out goes to Elysse, Valen and Oreahna.

Oslo, Bergen, Rail & Sail Norway – Dealsaway

You may feel this review is harsh, but after careful consideration I believe it is both fair and constructive, and I hope it gives Dealsaway an opportunity to improve future tours.

I recently completed two back-to-back Scandinavian tours—one with Scandi Travel and one with Dealsaway. Unfortunately, the comparison was stark. Scandi Travel were outstanding in every respect, and there is much Dealsaway could learn from their approach.

Accommodation & Location

The accommodation provided by Dealsaway was consistently far from city centres and highly inconvenient for sightseeing. While it may be argued this keeps costs down, in reality it does not—guests are forced to spend additional money on taxis and public transport just to access major attractions.

The Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel was particularly unsuitable for the apparent target demographic, which I believe is predominantly travellers aged 60+. Breakfast was not included, which should be standard on a tour of this nature. More concerning was the bathroom design, which required stepping into a bathtub to shower. For older travellers, especially those with knee or hip replacements, this presents a genuine occupational health and safety risk.

The same issue occurred later at the Thon Hotel Rosenkrantz in Bergen, again requiring guests to shower in a bathtub—an ongoing and avoidable safety concern.

Itinerary & Planning

The train journey from Oslo to Trondheim was an all-day trip, departing at 10:00 am and arriving around 5:00 pm. By the time we checked into the hotel, it was already dark and cold, leaving no opportunity to see the city. We departed again early the following morning, making the stop feel pointless.

For the next leg of the journey, we were only informed that we would leave Trondheim at 9:30 am for Bergen. No arrival time or meaningful detail was provided. Even when searching independently, there was no clear online information confirming that MS Midnatsol was departing on 6 January, which caused unnecessary confusion and anxiety.

MS Midnatsol

I would rate the MS Midnatsol experience as fair. We boarded at 9:30 am on Tuesday, but although disembarkation was not until 3:00 pm Wednesday, we were required to vacate our cabin by 10:00 am, leaving several hours with nowhere to rest and nothing to do.

Overall Assessment

The itinerary felt poorly planned and inadequately communicated, particularly given the age group this tour appears to cater for. Large portions of the trip involved long train journeys, brief hotel stays with no time to explore, and early departures that undermined the value of each destination.

In effect, this “7-day holiday” consisted of six nights’ accommodation, two train journeys, and one ferry—arrangements that required minimal organisation yet resulted in a deeply disappointing experience.

I have travelled extensively and have never encountered a tour of such poor quality. With better accommodation choices, clearer communication, safer facilities, and more thoughtful scheduling, this tour could be significantly improved.

These are considered some of the most convenient locations for sightseeing in both cities.

Facilities: While we understand the preference for walk-in showers, bathtub-shower combinations are a standard architectural feature in many premium European hotels due to space constraints. We appreciate you highlighting this from an accessibility perspective.

Itinerary & inclusions: This package is outlined as a 7-day itinerary with 6 nights’ accommodation, and all inclusions, including meals, are listed in advance. Where breakfast is not included, this allows guests flexibility to explore local options.

Travel & Scheduling: The rail and sail components are designed to showcase Norway’s landscapes and therefore involve full-day scenic transits. MS Midnatsol departure and arrival times are set by the cruise operator and are provided as part of the tour documentation. Cabin check-out times follow standard cruise line procedures to allow for vessel turnaround prior to the next embarkation.

Amazing time away…

Ellyse has been super helpful in arranging our group of 5 ladies to New Zealand Auckland & Rotorua . Accommodation was great & well located to the city center. We enjoyed all the tours that were included especially Hobbiton it was a standout. Our trip went very smoothly, and Ellyse continued to check in with us. We would definitely use DealsAway again
