The worst service on market they charge…

The worst service on market they charge a monthly fee for their router no matter how old it is. Been dealing with daily outages. When you try to receive help in their online service it tells you you are connected. You pay ridiculous amounts for a service that's spotty 60% of the time.
I'm waiting for fiber optic line that being laid now. I will never use cox again. They refused to come and rehang their lines that fell from a storm. The neighbor called them for weeks trying to get them out. Their line is still laying down in my yard 2 months later.
They have never shown up!

Can you imagine paying a company $80, and then have them trample on you?

This review is for my Cox experience in setting up internet for my elderly parent, and Casa Grande, AZ store #211.

Ordered up some internet service with mom on the other line, she is moving cross-country near to me. Wanted the wifi ready upon her arrival. We called, went through the process, and paid. Was told to go to the store to get the equipment. The whole process of setting up and taking our payment was quick, and seamless. Then the fun began.

When I arrived at the Casa Grande Cox Store 211, Store Manager Jessica informs me that they will not give me the equipment, or talk to me about equipment, as I'm not on the account. I told her that I was on the account, and just told to come get it, but she doesn't let me finish, cuts me off, and she says "not happening you're not the main account holder". When I respond with what they told me on the phone, Steven the assistant manager cuts me off and starts loudly telling me they're not releasing it no matter what the rep said, and if 'I have a problem he'll gladly give me his card'. Brazen, disrespectful. How do you get into management level and not be able to communicate decently with a customer? I didn't get to finish, or explain. No care for my issue, just get out of their face they already got mom's money so it's no concern of theirs.

I went back home and spent another hour with the supervisor and my mother on the phone, because it takes 45 minutes just to get to the first person that can't help you, then get transferred to #2, so that you can start explaining all over again. She ASSURES me everything is set, and to go get the equipment.

The store of course hasn't gotten the memo even though the rep called, and they will not release the equipment AGAIN. she even argues with the phone rep, she's just not going to release it to anyone but my mother who's across the country, despite me being on the account. HERE'S THE COX SOLUTION- send the modem to my mom in Indiana, then have her travel with it here, down the street from me in Arizona. DUMB. So instead, they are mailing it to her unoccupied house here, hoping it doesn't get pirated from the porch, and I have to drive out and check for it because they will not even mail it to my home despite me being on the account. Store manager Jessica got a better demeanor after seeing the totality of the issue, but still worked hard to make sure that I didn't get the equipment we paid for, and argued with the Cox phone rep. What a clown show, Cox policy doesn't even agree with Cox policy. Assistant manager Steven was a not-participant in attempting to solve this, he seemed more comfortable getting loud with me and showing me that he wasn't going to help.

The Cox store policy is not in line with the Cox Corporate policy, and as a result a full day of my vacation plus 80 dollars is out the window.

I want to assure all that this is the experience I always have with cox, and is the reason that they lost my cable business. I only use them for wifi, and even then you are guaranteed to need to call them frequently. When you call, you can throw at least three hours out the window.

Cox only cares about you dollars, and once they have them, they disregard the 'provide service' portion of the agreement. And they don't feel that they need to provide polite, expedient service for that money. Their cable contracts are always gimmicked, you have to call almost monthly because one promotion or another is always expiring which makes your bill jump. And unless you're willing to put in 5 hours (really 5 hours, not exaggerating), your bill will do nothing but climb.

They're very aggressive with getting dollars, but can't solve the simplest of problems. The tier 2 supervisors are decent, but whoever you talk to first will know nothing, and fix nothing.

If there were any other option for internet here, I would use it. This is a horrid company, with horrid customer service, untrained and rude front-end store staff, and incompetent, rude, disrespectful managers. These sharks only care about your money.

COX SCAM

So about 6 months ago, cox said they were moving email accounts to everyday.mail. what a scam! not only moving it to there but also charging a fee of $42+ dollars a year. well GUESS WHAT I discovered. My original e-mail still works just fine. i had both i-cons on my menu bar and they both worked even though Everyday was extremely slow. My Thunderbird works perfectly, no annoying adds or crap. I was removing the annoying McPhee pop ups that everyone hates. I deleted a optional Browser, secondary Chrome that i had. Walla! it's gone. completely!!!!!! I do have an ADBLOCKERPLUS to protect against all those annoying ads. works wonderfully. after i did this, i noticed the everyday icon was gone. what a scam. these people should be arrested and locked up until they pay all the restitution back to clients. you should be ashamed of yourselves! Unfortunately cox has moved e-mail accounts to other e-mail providers, and i suspect they have done to others as me. BIG DOLLAR SCAM here! Id give them a big 0 if i could. I want my money back!

Just read the other reviews. This is crap. IF there was ANY other real choice I would dump Cox in a second. I am paying for a GIG connections and am getting 30 mgb. I spent an hour arguing with chat to get a phone number so I could talk to a person. Then when I asked for compensation they transferred me to a dead line. Yep this is worth the 110 a month. There is no proactive maintenance on their infrastructure. The online tech said the in home amp needed to be disconnected........I dont have an in home amp. So now here I get to sit for the rest of Saturday and hope a Tech can help and if not today I have to be home tomorrow so they can maybe show up. Find a different service provider.

Cox is expensive, slow & has terrible support

Cox is expensive, slow, and has terrible support. For years, a house of mine has had Cox TV and Internet. In all of that time, the internet speeds are rarely even close to what I pay for. The TV packages are ridiculous in both price and content. Want support? Good luck. Cox phone support is truly the worst on this planet. The only help is to schedule a technician who takes weeks to come out. I could go on and on, but the service is not something I would ever recommend to anyone.

Why not try another company? Because there is none outside a satellite company with DSL speeds and insane data caps.

As a small business owner

As a small business owner, I’ve been really disappointed with Cox Communications. Their services and policies do not seem to take the needs of small businesses into account. Instead of working with us to find flexible, affordable solutions, it feels like everything is designed for large-scale accounts.

Customer support has been frustrating — long wait times, little understanding of small business challenges, and no real willingness to tailor services to what we actually need. The lack of transparency in billing has also made planning and budgeting unnecessarily difficult.

It’s disheartening that a company of this size doesn’t recognize the value of supporting small businesses in their communities. Reliable, affordable internet and fair business practices should be a given, not something we have to fight for.

Until Cox makes changes, I cannot recommend them to other small business owners.

DO NOT USE COX COMMUNICATIONS!!

DO NOT USE COX COMMUNICATIONS!!! Their customer "service" is anything but. I am handling my elderly mother's financial and medical affairs, as her partner just passed away. After providing significant documentation for Cox, and spending literally 5 hours on the phone with several Cox representatives, they will not help me to change the password to get access to the account. I am an authorized user, with my phone and email on the account. They spoke to my mother 4 times. They called the number on the Cox account 8 times. Because I could not provide the Cox PIN and because the security question that my mother's dead partner set up could not be answered, they will not allow access to the account. They want my 86 year old bed-bound mother to walk into a Cox store, or for me to drive 2 hours to take a selfie to send in. I could provide her drivers license, her verbal ok, credit cards, and many other forms of ID. They are HORRIBLE!!!! NO OTHER COMPANY has been as heartless and difficult in this time of family crisis and mourning.

Unprofessional, unresponsive and unreliable service - avoid!

Cox has shown absolute unprofessionalism in their handling of my case. Despite multiple complaints submitted to BBB, FCC, and more, they still refuse to resolve my issue or communicate properly. Their conduct makes it impossible for me to ever use or recommend them again. If someone asks—tell them: don’t use Cox Communications, they exploit and abandon their customers. I feel disrespected and emotionally mistreated.

cox - their name says it all

Once, along time ago Cox was a great company. You went into the stores and were greeted and the rep would immediately look up your plan and see if they could get you on a better cheaper plan and they did. Then they became the same as the other cable companies. I was literally told to stop complaining and just accept the high cost that kept getting higher every couple of months! They had us forced into the excrementally bad tv-internet-landline phone plan -that no one wants! Landline phone!!!! I dropped that and within months they found ways to creep the price back up! I called them went through their subhuman excuse for customer service and ended by canceling tv. Again the continued to raise rates now for just internet. While providing less and less. So I took the verizon 5 year plan for Fios and received free router, free extender, MOCA adapter, $50 xbox gift card, $200 target gift card and some more stuff. Free install too. Paying only $65 a month! I called cox and cancelled and they didn't even care. they were like ok, bye. Not even trying to convince you to stay the reps knew how bad it was. Now cox has terrible 3 year plans that again don't compare to the verizon plans. I absolutely hate cox and their ripoff company. I hope they sink sooner than later.

cox internet is awful

they charge $50/month for unlimited data on top of a 1.25 tb data cap on every internet plan. its 2025 and theres absolutely zero reason for data caps. cox would still make money even without the unlimited data extortion fee

I would give cox caple in Ocala Florida a negative

I would give cox caple in Ocala Florida minus stars if I could. After multiple multiple calls, technicians coming and finding over and over again noise on the line, and paying for a 2G connection that barely delivered 25% of that speed to my modem, I gave up. I paid a full internet bill of 180$, and canceled my services, they say I never canceled and continued to charge me for my services.
Now I have a 332$ bill in collection from this ass hatt company telling me that they provided "a" service.

Stay away from these criminals, they only steel your money.

PREFER 0 STARS: Switched to Cox Mobile 05/2025. Purchased a Samsung Galaxy S25+ where I was to pay $8.00 a month for 2 years and they would pay $46.00 (financed through Citizens Pay). Well, I have never been able to get Voicemail on my phone ... I have been through 3 levels of tech support and spent 2 hours at the Cox store yesterday to no avail ... they have no idea what is wrong, or how to fix it. Doing research myself, I believe that the issue is with the eSim card that they use. They say they cannot revert to an actual Sim card because the phone has already gotten an eSim and they refuse to replace the phone. They say they finance in house now so can do nothing about the money owed to Citizen's Pay. I am a senior citizen ... I NEED VOICEMAIL as hospitals and doctors offices do not do text messaging (especially hospitals). I am totally between a rock and a hard place here with Cox Communications saying ... sorry, but there is nothing we can do.

If I could give negative stars I would

If I could give negative stars I would. Cox is a horrible company as the 1.4/5.0 rating here on Trust Pilot (and others) indicates. My phone calls with Cox dropped very frequently and the company could not figure out why, would not provide a refund later on, and just abandoned the situation without reaching out to its telecom partners or even the Geek Squad to resolve. I dumped Cox, asked them to never contact me again including ads, they did, I got the Attorney General on them until these amateurs finally stopped.

Now I heard that Cox wants to merge with Charter Communications. Charter should back out immediately and the government should not allow this merger. Let Cox go out of business and another company pick up their scraps for cheap. Cox has no business being in business and THIS MERGER SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN imo.

UPDATE! THEY ARE A BUNCH OF LIARS AS WELL! THEY WILL CLAIM YOUR RATE WILL NOT N GO UP FOR 3 YEARS BUT THAT IS A LIE. MY SERVICE JUST INCREASED $15 FOR NEXT MONTHS SERVICE. HOW ARE THESE CROOKS ALLOWED TO GET AWAY WITH THIS KIND OF CRAP?!

This company is an absolute dumpster fire.
Their prices are definition of gouging. The service is less than to be desired. Why would anyone want to sign up for their atrocious cell service when they can't get their internet stable?!
They will nickle and dime you for EVERY LITTLE THING. Their prices change TOO often and it always goes up! This company deserves to burn to the ground.

You guys are awful

You guys are awful. Back in November I was promised a 200$ gift card I did everything in the timely manner and did everything correctly. Been working for months to get this gift card as promised and I couldn’t get anything to work when I’d go to coxrewards. I seriously called every single week to get this situated. They denied my claim
Saying I didn’t do it in the cut off time frame which is complete lie because I’ve literally called every single week to try and get help. This company is horrible. Hints the reason why they have 1 stars on like everything. I pray these people go out of business for how they treat their regular customers.

WHATEVER YO DO, DON'T SIGN UP FOR COX

WHATEVER YO DO, DON'T SIGN UP WITH COX!!! They moved ALL their billing support over to India so there is NO WAY to get a US representative. I just wasted over an hour first waiting for an incompetent agent to join a chat, then they kept telling me to give them a few minutes to review my account (almost a half hour) then told me that she couldn't do anything about my billing issue that I had explained to her VERY clearly in the very beginning. She told me that I had to be transferred to their "loyalty" department. Now I'm waiting 90 minutes for this mysterious person from the fictional "loyalty" department to join the chat. Luckily, my neighborhood was wired for fiber optic service from Frontier about 6 months ago. Time to dump Cox after 40 years!!!!

Horrific experience

My experience with Cox business has truly been THE WORST utility experience of my life. Outage after outage and substandard quality. My phones, internet, cable and cox would typically go out for sometimes days at a time, usually several days a month. My business lost tens of thousands in revenue as a result. Very poor customer service also. I switched to Verizon and YouTube tv and couldn’t be happier. AVOID COX!
