If only one could give zero stars! My 92 year old mother has now been waiting, over three and a half years for Child and Child to complete the Land Registration associated with her purchase of an apartment on the 6th January 2022. When my father died in January 2024 we were assured during probate by Child and Child that the registration was in process and that because of the delay a new title number had been allocated. On the 25th May 2024, they assured us of Child and Childs intention to complete their engagement with my Mother in accordance with its terms. Two months ago, they assured us that they were dealing with the matter and that we would be kept informed of progress. For the last month they have stopped responding to our emails despite the widest internal circulation. We are currently in the process of trying to raise a complaint with the Omsbudsman.

Deeply Disappointed by Exploitative Billing Practices
If you ever heard that a victim of domestic abuse did not withstand their suffering and decided to take their life, be sure 99% of their decision was pushed by such ‘professionals’ as Child & Child.
My experience with Child & Child has been distressing and financially damaging. As a vulnerable client involved in complex and emotionally exhausting family court proceedings, I turned to them for legal support. Instead, I was met with what I believe to be artificially inflated fees, excessive internal communication charges, and questionable time entries — all of which seemed more focused on maximising their profit than supporting their client. In only six working days in which ZERO legal advice was given, ZERO statements or case documents drafted, ZERO court bundled collated or other case work done, I received a five figure bill. And the only task I asked them was to find a barrister to represent me. Five figure bill for a such simple job.
Despite repeated concerns raised about their billing, I received no meaningful explanation, only increasing pressure to settle and pay. Their approach left me emotionally drained and in serious financial difficulty.
What has been most devastating is the emotional toll. The way I have been treated — knowing I was already struggling — has pushed me to a point of severe mental and physical exhaustion. I’ve had moments where the pressure feels unbearable.
I want everyone know - these people, with full awareness of my desperate situation and the physical and mental exhaustion caused by four years of ongoing legal proceedings, are methodically and cold-bloodedly driving me to take my life. If I eventually reach a breaking point and decide to make that final step, the responsibility for that will lie entirely with them.
This is not what ethical legal representation looks like. I write this review as both a warning to others and a call for accountability. No one should be exploited in their most vulnerable moments.
Serious Concerns Raised – Complaint Submitted to SRA and Legal Ombudsman
I have submitted a formal complaint to both the SRA and the Legal Ombudsman regarding my experience with this firm. Based on my dealings, I would urge prospective clients to exercise caution and conduct thorough due diligence before instructing them.
In my case, I was quoted and agreed a specific cost in writing for legal work, but was subsequently invoiced for nearly eight times that amount without clear explanation. Despite repeated requests, I was not provided with a properly signed retainer, which the firm later acknowledged had not been executed correctly. As I had no visibility of any costs beyond the original quote, I felt forced into paying a substantially higher fee than expected. I found this lack of clarity and transparency deeply concerning.
When I raised a formal complaint, several key issues remained unresolved, and responses became increasingly defensive and obstructive. More troublingly, I was inadvertently copied into internal emails in which a solicitor i formally complained to appeared to dismiss my complaint as “a load of crap” in correspondence shared with senior partners! In my view, this breached professional standards and showed a serious lapse in judgement and internal oversight. As a client, it left me feeling both undermined, mocked in internal correspondence that included other staff and disrespected.
I remain a client of this firm in relation to an ongoing matter, yet they are now actively representing a new party in litigation that appears to conflict with their knowledge of my interests. This development has also been reported to the SRA and the Legal Ombudsman to assess whether it constitutes a breach of regulatory or fiduciary duties, based on what I believe could amount to a conflict.
In hindsight, I regret not appointing a different firm from the outset. I would strongly recommend that anyone considering instructing this firm ensures that all costs, responsibilities and terms are confirmed in writing and that no work begins without a properly signed agreement in place.
This experience has caused significant personal stress and disrupted the progress of an important legal matter I was relying on them to handle with care and professionalism.
All statements above reflect my personal experience and I am sharing this to ensure others are better informed and can avoid the same experience. Firms operating in regulated legal services must be held to the standards they are entrusted with.

Lennons solicitors went into administration and Child and Child email addresses posted on their website, never responded to anything for over 5 weeks. Eventually persistent calls to Child and Child finally got the results. That said, the person who’s taken over the case doesn’t sound too clued up. So pleased I’m not paying for their services.

Is there any one out there.
I contacted this company via email approximately 10 weeks ago asking for advice regarding a legal matter they are dealing with on my behalf. I heard nothing back so tried phoning them many times leaving voicemails to which they never replied. I finally spoke to someone approximately a month ago who told me that she could see my email and it had not been directed to the correct department. She assured me that she would do this as a matter of urgency. I have heard nothing since. I wonder what I have to do to get a response!! Very unprofessional.

Child & Child property solicitors - the worst service ever!
I would like to share the experience I had with Child & Child, in particular with their property solicitors - Anouska Kapur (head of the residential real estate) and Jada Gordon.
I was working with Child & Child on a property deal and some time after the deal was completed I tried to get the deal-related documents from them. This turned out to be completely impossible! For several months already I am trying to get these documents and most of the time my e-mails are simply ignored. Once in a while they chose to reply, but this was of little help. Just couple of examples: (1) after numerous requests they managed to find some documents (not all!) and send them to me via post, however the package never arrived and they refuse to provide any information about this package for two weeks already; (2) some documents cannot be found (which is already pretty bad!) and I requested them to get copies from the Land Registry - they promised to do this back in June 24 (so more than two months ago) and despite my several follow ups with them they keep complete silence regarding this.
Anouska Kapur is an extremely irresponsible and unprofessional person and given that she is the head of their residential real estate department I recommend to choose a different firm as your property solicitors!
Stay away from them if you can!
