Awful Experience
Had no hot water or central heating. Reported claim via our insurers, Direct Line around 10am on 4th January. CET obviously did not consider this an emergency as they messaged to say they would arrive on 5th January at 9am. We called to see if someone could come same day as house was freezing ( snowing outside!). They said they would look into this and come back to us. They did not. Have taken this morning ( 5th) off work and its now midday and no one has turned up. Called CET and been on hold for 25 mins with no answer. Absolute waste of time. Will be raising a formal complaint and if not satisfied will report to Insurance Ombudsman. Have been with Direct line for over 15 years for home insurance. Will go elsewhere on renewal next month and will only go with company that does not use CET.

Excellent service
It was easy to speak to someone and I think it was Grace who answered my call, she took the details and then arranged an engineer to come. He came within an hour and a half, fixed the problem and checked all was well. I couldn’t be more impressed with the service. It makes such a difference to not have to go through several options on a call but to quickly speak to a human who can help rather than be passed around from person to person getting nowhere. Thank you so much!

After a week of waiting and platitudes, I've cancelled the job
Hot water heating element leaked, flooding property. Arriving at home I isolated the water leak. An CET engineer attended following day to get part number. Since then, I've been phoning daily, and have spent between 10 - 20 minutes waiting on each call for someone to pick up. All I have been given are platitudes. A week on, still no communication as to when an engineer will attend to undertake the replacement. Fed up, I've contacted a local heating engineer to attend and have agreed to give them the job. Home Emergency Cover has been a complete waste of money and has delayed getting the job progressed.

I told this company about a leak…
I told this company about a leak underneath my kitchen sink the day before Christmas. I was promised a visit on the 27th but this was delayed until the 29th December. Someone turned up midday, glanced under the sink to say it would have to be reviewed. I have been paying £20 per month for cover then had to pay an extra £60 for call out. Been calling every day and today 2nd January still no water. Happy Christmas. If I could score this company a minus 10 I would

Brilliant service
Brilliant service! After the boiler croaking just before midnight on NYE, The CET engineer Abdullah arrived at 10.30 am New Year’s Day and we had heat and hot water, can’t knock that, what a super and swift service.

Excellent Service
Swift service from beginning to end made easy by confirmation text with expected date and time slot for arrival of engineer . Kept up to date just before engineer was due to arrive, was well within allocated time slot. Upon arrival a very polite and professional engineer attended who explained in detail what the problem appeared to be which he was able to fix there then and during a holiday period which we thought might have made for a much longer waiting an been left without heating but this wasn’t case . Very happy with service can’t fault the speed and expertise we received from both the customer services and engineer.

C E T ruined my Christmas
The way this company has treated me has been disgraceful . My central heating broke down 3 days before Christmas so put a call in to my insurer st 4 am got txt to confirm an engineer would attend before 12 engineer never attended so rang back and was told I shouldn’t have received the txt and the engineer would attend before 5 engineer never showed put another call in to be informed engineer had been booked for the day after. I made several calls that evening trying to confirm a time the engineer would attend the day after. Every agent I spoke to me misled me in order way to appease me and get me off the phone. I was promised by several agents s manager would call me. I didn’t get the call until 26th Dec after waiting 3 days . The manager I spoke to promised to review all the calls and call me back the day after which never happened . Now 30th Dec still left with no heating or hot water and no clear indication when it will be resolved. . Needless to say my Christmas has been totally ruined and also lost and and a day off work when I couldn’t have been on call myself . Staff do not give a stuff about your personal situation and will just tell you a load Bull to make their day easier and get you off the phone. I fully intend to take this up with the insurance Ombudsman

Had to wait 2 days before plumber turned up, incident happened at 14.00hrs Sat meant to be an emergency service?.....However plumber George arrived at 7.00am Monday and did a first class repair. Happy customer.

Frustrating service operation
Its great that Liverpool Victoria have the emergency response service within their home insurance package. However, we found it very frustrating that CET were reliant upon another company (Redfern) completing works to allow them access to the leak causing the emergency. CET and Redfern did not communicate with each other or have any level of joined up working. This meant we were left without water on a number of occasions whilst waiting for Redfern to remove a tile and then waiting for CET to come back out to cap the leak. Very frustrating.

Abysmal and utterly useless
CET are the company contracted by Churchill insurance to deal with home emergencies. Having experienced their services I would strongly advise anyone not to take out an insurance policy with any insurer dealing with this useless contracter. I have been trying for several weeks to have a problem with my hot water tank and heating system diagnosed and repaired, and despite making a formal complaint to my insurer and CET we have got nowhere. When you ring to report an issue they send out generic texts, the first to say that they are seeking an expert to come out and deal with your emergency, followed by a second that says they are having a little trouble finding one so they are taking longer than usual to respond. After initial contact it took a few days to send someone to my home, but he informed me that he was not qualified to deal with my hot water tank and heating system, so he left within 5 minutes having just used his phone to take a few photos and spouting technobabel that even I knew was utter nonsense. Promising that they would get someone qualified to me later that day, nothing happened. No texts, calls or emails. I contacted CET yet again and the person I spoke to promised to escalate the case. Nothing happened again so I made formal complaints to my insurer, Churchill, who just blamed CET and refused to do anything. Complained officially to CET. An investigation was promised, but again heard nothing by text, call or email. Rang again and this time received the two generic emails, but I was going on holiday for two weeks (which CET knew) and so I had to ring again to ensure they didn’t send anyone to the house while I was away. Advised to ring as soon as I returned home only to be told that because it was Christmas they had no idea when they would be able to send anyone to help. Consequently I have had a lovely couple of days with no hot water as the outside temperature plummets. This has been beyond question the worst service and experience I have ever had with any company and I have no idea how they can claim to be dealing with household emergencies given how utterly incompetent, unreliable and useless they are. I will not be renewing my household insurance with any insurer that deals with CET in the future. Any policy offering these as “emergency home cover” isn’t worth the paper it is written on. I would happily award no stars, but sadly that isn’t an option.
UPDATE: What “service” are you referring to in your pathetic reply?
FURTHER UPDATE: Eventually CET sent out an engineer to repair my hot water system on 6 January having had no hot water since 24 December. My formal complaint was fully upheld after an internal CET investigation and they have agreed to compensate me to the tune of £200 for their truly dreadful non existent emergency service. I subsequently discovered that the replacement part/repair to my hot water system is leaking and since I was going on holiday the next day had no alternative but to turn off my boiler and water supply and drain the tank. I will be returning home to a feeezing cold house and a leak which will need further repair. CET customer services refuse to help by booking me an appointment for my return home and have advised I need to ring their emergency line when I get back in mid February. They have closed my complaint without my permission and have advised me to raise a new complaint about my complaint. Beyond surreal. AVOID THIS AWFUL COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE. WORST SERVICE IN THE HISTORY OF ROTTEN SERVICE. EMERGENCY CARE MY A*#E! DO NOT TAKE OUT A HOME CARE POLICY WITH THEM OR AN INSURANCE POLICY THAT USES CET FOR ITS HOME EMERGENCY COVER; THIS INCLUDES SEVERAL HOUSEHOLD NAMES LIKE CHURCHILL!

H-1099623 25th November 2025 would not recommend them for any one as a landlord there contractor arrived at my tenants property. He quoted for a PCB and Direction valve took nearly a week for him or his company Metro Plumbing to put the quote in then when he did return said to tenant they only payed him for one job and then only replaced the PCB after which the boiler Screen stopped working. Repair last Two days he then returned after then calling directly saying they will send someone else a call from tenant to say same engineer. Now the screen still not replaced and now his put in for another PCB. So far it has cost me discounted the tenants rent and a couple of Heaters that CET will only cover £30 each cost over £50 each so out of pocket in rent and for the heaters. Next same engineer turned up 23/12/25 as boiler issue so i spoke to tenant to be there before he arrived to see what happens was cocky as he managed to get it up and running. He had no idea he was talking to the landlord asked what happened to report of the screen “ooh it was reported to my office they must not of told them it needed replacing” he made a call to boiler Manufacturer. Well low and behold i get a call at 5 am christmas day and take a 1 hour 45 minute drive to the property all because the yep the boiler has stopped working again this time i asked the tenant not to do anything till i arrived as i followed what the engineer had said just in case tenant was doing it incorrectly and had the same issue of trying to fire up and failing but at there is no working screen your cant see the fault code and bearing in mind it stopped working after the engineer replaced the PCB. Now i warned them and have now added this to the civil court action my solicitor has put in after they failed to get this corrected. Boiler 10 to 15 years old get serviced and test by the same local company every year and yes the plumber did try and blame them saying they gave incorrect advice. only to give same advice to tenant as my contractor did to tenant and back track on what he had said previously. Have given them till the 6th January to get this working or replace on call today and now putting up here if they repair or replace by the 6th of January i will swallow the loss and stop my solicitor suing them but it has to be done but the 6th and this is myself being fair. Putting money where my mouth is if after this date. I will carry forward with legal action and anyone else happy for you to come to court and will post up the court and date on this page for all and will to turn in to class action against CET. So 6th January or court which date will be posted here for other to join. As dont have this head ache with my other properties insurance.
