We had a great time, the house was amazing and they even gave us some free gifts when we checked in (an hour early may I add). Would def reccomend if you are looking for a place to stay in the area!
Worst vacation ever!
This is the response I got from the company that lays out all that was wrong during my stay...
I apologize again for the unfit home you arrived to, the difficulty you had getting into the home, the unsafe conditions from the unsecured doors, the inconvenience of staying with the locksmith on Friday past 8pm at night, the broken jets in the bathtub, the crack in the front door allowing wildlife to get in, the lack of curtains in the bathroom leading to you being exposed, the throwing knives that were left from the previous guest in the backyard that our maintenance team did not inspect, the ants that came into your home during our spring season in the mountains, the acrid smells in the home, the stains on the carpet, the squeaky and uncomfortable beds, and the broken fishing rods.
More importantly, I would like to apologize for the lack of care you felt from our whole team during and after your vacation. This is not the standard at Big Bear Vacations and I'm sorry that you experienced this.
I have reviewed your reservation with the Big Bear Vacations Leadership Team and we feel that compensation is due.
The amount of $170.47 has been refunded and we have extended a discount of 20% for your next stay with us in the hopes this may change your online review and give us another chance to put our best foot forward and take care of you.
...$170...when I paid over $1,000 for a Friday - Monday stay. I will not be taking advantage of their discount this time or any other in the future. Worst vacation ever!

We tried Big Bear Vacations after having an awful experience at Big Bear two years. We are so glad we did! We love the professionalism of the staff. We felt very safe and were welcomed immediately. Our cabin was wonderful! We love the town and are glad that we now have a trusted vacation rental business to work with! The spices and maps provided was a nice touch!

Horrible experience
Horrible experience! None of the kitchen appliances were in working condition and unfortunately I did not find this out until after I bought a couple hundred dollars worth of groceries. The floors are so slippery that you will fall several times and hurt yourself. Several of us were bruised up and I myself could not move for a couple days after hitting the ground so hard. There are cobwebs everywhere and the beds are cheap and uncomfortable. The master bedroom is good size yet it has a queen bed that feels like it’s 20+ years old. I wish that I had something positive to say about the home I was in as well as the company big bear vacations, but unfortunately there’s nothing but negative words to say. They are not accommodating and are only interested in your money. Stay away at all costs. If it looks too good to be true, it most definitely is.

I found it very unsettling and sad to see so many people waiting to check in, past 4 o'clock sitting in your lobby waiting for their places to be available. I will not book though this company again because of that.
Very happy overall
Very happy overall. Was an insanely busy weekend during a holiday period. The lines were on the long side but it was handled about as well as could possibly be expected. The customer service (especially help on calls before we came) was exceptional and is probably the best part about Big Bear Vacations.

Our cabin was awesome. I’m going to rent it again in the near future. The only complaint is being located near the ski resort, traffic was intense by the cabin.
winter getaway
I rented this single story house for family and friends. It is a beautiful and well maintained house with a lot of room. Didn't care for the bunk beds but we made it work. I thought the bed in the master was a queen but it was a full. That's the only negative thing I have to say about this place. Location was great-easy to find. I'll be back.

Checking in was a nightmare
Checking in was a nightmare. Staff were not prepared for the amount of people who were there and the checking in wait time was ridiculous (not to mention that there were so many people that they didn’t all fit in the building). After we checked in and we’re given the address, we got to our cabin only to find out that they were still cleaning it! The lady cleaning it was apologetic but she told us she was given the wrong supplies and would need at least and hour. I called the company to share my negative experience only to get an attitude form the person on the phone and a simple “just go walk around the town”. After going back to the cabin after a little more than an hour, our cabin was still not ready. After all the waiting, she told us we could go in between t would need to stay in a certain space since she wasn’t done with her job. I did not get a very good impression from your company in regards to preparing for guests. You knew the quantity of folks checking in and did not adequately prepare. I also wrote to your company and got an automatic response that someone would get back to me within 3 days, it’s been about a month am I’m still waiting for a response.
Disappointed in this 6-person bungalow: needs some attention to details.
Disappointed in this 6-person bungalow. Missing lights from large kitchen: so dark we spent 1 hr trying to figure out how to turn lights on-some fixtures but 6 bulbs burned out!-- Had to switch with bedroom’s to get enough light to prep meals. 3-person table w/only 2chairs. What happened to sleeps 6 here? But only feeds 2 in kitchen? We were looking forward to family sitting at a table for 1-2 meals, not able to do this, Family had to eat in shifts-spread around the living room. (Folding Costco chairs would have worked great, too much to ask?) 1.5 bath only, not -2- full bathrooms. MBroom had nice new mattress; only a sheet on it + 1 blanket, no mattress pad? 2nd bedroom: only bottom sheet, no top sheet? No xtra linen in whole house? Not even 1xtra blanket anywhere in whole place! This is winter! We were told we might need to bring our own blankets in case the place seemed cold upon arrival: furnace did a good job w/xtra standing electric new heater in MBrm. Whole place seems to be bare minimum rollly equipped. Kitchen cupboards needed shelf lining paper, though all appliances are nearly new--few xtra glass/plates, every meal needed to run 1/2 full diswasher to have enough dishes. Seems like owner just bought house & is worried someone will steal things. Wished I had brought salt/pepper w/me. I left xtra paper towels rolls, no kitchen dishcloth/towels. Very bare-minimum. Better equipped for a dog then family. Only bath upstairs for both bedrooms, had miserable faucet, slipping & torqued out of shape-barely could turn it on/off. Please replace. Suggest: Ribbon ties to bathroom curtains x2 to enable sunshine to brighten gloomy areas & keep out of way of towel bar. How about some wall shelves in l/2 bath/laundry room to better utilitze for cosmetics/toiletries? Hat racks or portable clothes rack in laundry room for downstairs heavy jackets & snowboots-might sleep -6- but small & poorly layed out for personal items storage. Dark, gloomy living room-poor lighting-small out-dated fixtures, had to wear head-lamp to see our game pieces. Easily updated. I would give cleaning team their notice: to miss so many light bulbs out-and beds not put back with properly paired set of sheets, seemed really careless. Happy to make them up myself instead of sleeping on top of bare mattress, but not 1 single xtra sheet, blanket or pillow case in whole house? Good idea to supply xtra black garage bags as its necessary to haul your household waste out to local green bins: (I brought my own from Northern California.)Tips+ Suggest: go to $$store and load up on basic supplies. Label maker will help renters locate & return to places in kitchen, keep things in proper order.

House needs attention
The house was large, and the location was great. But the fence had fallen down in one area, making it hard to contain the kids. The hot tub hadn't been serviced, and response time was slow to get to us. The yard had trash and clothing in it, so hadn't been maintained. There were mice in the kitchen and in the walls, there were ants all over the kitchen and dining areas. The worst part was glass in the green of the pool table - my child got glass shards in her hand and we had to visit the ER to remove them. Even worse, the management company never arrived after we called them to clean it up.

The Cozy Cottage we rented was in a fabulous location next to the Snow Summit ski area with lots of snow play surrounding the house. That was the reason we rented the property. The house itself was large enough for all 10 of us. However, there were lots of problems with the house itself. The cleaning staff needs to be changed as there were dirty socks in the downstairs bed indicating the linens had not been changed. The handle on the sink in the bathroom was broken making it hard to use. A space heater has to be brought in for the bedroom without a heater vent. There was a white pill of some kind on the bedroom floor indicating the floor had not been vacuumed. Shower was corroded. Water dribbled out. Kitchen tabletop was not attached to the base and kept falling off.

The check-in process left something to be desired. From the moment I arrived in the office until I received my keys, it had taken around 70 minutes. The line was very long, very slow. There were simply not enough agents to help the 60+ arrivals coming at check-in time..
Beyond that, they were extremely kind and helpful.
