We have used Azets for a number of…

We have used Azets for a number of years, periodically for our audit and tax but where we have really seen the value is in the project work we have undertaken. Specifically around tax, the team have been responsive, strong communication and very knowledgeable. We have navigated acquisitions, group simplifcation, hiving of assets and a number of other projects and we have been guided through this with great professionalism.

The audit team have also been supportive and we have had good consistency in the senior team

Personal Tax

For the second year in a row Azets have been easy and straight forward to deal with in their Glasgow offices. My affairs were slightly more complicated this year, including a buy to let property and the advice I've been given has saved me many more times the small fee. I am a small business yet I felt I was provided with great service by the Glasgow tax team.

Azets are not for personal clients

We are a legacy customer of azets, my grandfathers accountant firm merged or was taken over 4 times until we ended up with azets. After my father's death they forgot to seek probate for 9 months, staff had left, but work was not handed on. We messed up managing his estate and went back for help. 3 years later we are starting the process again, our contact was'too busy'for nearly a year. We Chased for a meeting and got a plan, it took 8 months to get a letter of engagement. After 3 months of non reply to emails I found that our contact is on extended leave and her work has not been reallocated.
Azets look like they are only interested in huge accounts and their internal processes are terrible. I cannot recommend them, if zero stars was an option I'd take it

Azets are terrible, avoid at all costs

Rewriting review after Azets complained that I had used an employees initials.... strange that they aren't concerned about 'personal information ' when employees full names are used in positive reviews isnt it? I see they aren't having those taken down! Makes me wonder how many other negative reviews they've been successful in removing.
Azets bought out a local firm, and I stuck with them. Mistake. Almost 20 years with them, this will end immediately. I got hit with health problems preventing me from working. I owed on an invoice that arrived just at that time. They also record their invoice date before I even received the accounts they'd done or an invoice for said accounts - i actually got a reminder to pay and statement saying 1 week overdue before actually receiving any paperwork at all! This happens every time, so not just a blip in their system. They don't care. Anyway, contacted them to explain my situation, they could not care less. I suggested a payment plan, that I knew I could manage, to send payments over the next few months. I also explained I'd likely get it paid faster but was trying to reduce pressure on myself at this time. They could not care less, completely ignored my suggested payment plan and said they would only accept two payments on consecutive months. No specific date mentioned, just consecutive months. I found a way to pay the first payment last month, not easy but I did it. 3 days into thismonyh they have sent me a threatening debt collection letter. At a time when I've been advised to keep stress levels down while I recuperate, this is not helpful. The joys of being self employed i guess. It seems accountants don't do humane. Do not use this company if you expect to be treated like a human being.
I'm sure I'll get a reply saying an invoice due is an invoice due. Blaming me for getting sick. Very sorry Azets, really selfish of me I know.
Oh,and if you get assigned certain employees with very unprofessional, passive aggressive responses, dont be surprised. As that's the caliber of employee Azets thinks appropriate it's no wonder your reviews are plummeting to resoundingly terrible at great speed.
Edit in response to reply... I would very much like to see proof that you offered at alternative payment plan any different to the one I detailed above of two consecutive months with no specific date? That never happened. And if that is true why did you send a threatening debt collection letter, which i received on the 3rd, meaning it must have been arranged and posted before the end of the first month i sent the first half of the payment? Your employees actually could not have cared less and were completely lacking in empathy. Add to that you failed to submit the accounts until I chased you anyway. So you were chasing me for money of 'services rendered', which means services completed/done, when in fact you hadn't! Just adds insult to injury really, oh and then blamed me for not returning a signed form which in fact I had, then despite saying you couldn't find it submitted my accounts without having found it anyway! Unreal.

We followed this up via email and phone call, with no response. We are sorry to hear of your health concerns, and our colleagues also expressed this in emails.

Good service

Swift return of our yearly tax accounts from Gary and James at the Shrewsbury office and done for a pre agreed quoted price. Would recommend Azets as an accountant and am very happy with their service.

Good upfront service but lacking in aftercare
Following a recommendation, I chose this company to help establish a pension scheme for my business, around 8 months ago

The initial information gathering process was good. The advisor I dealt with was friendly and knowledgeable.
And I think the pension was set up well.

The only reason why I am giving a 3 star review is the after care. I have had issues figuring out the process of adding funds into the pension. And I have given little to no guidance on how to do it.

This caused me to waste a lot of time figuring out the complexities of the process. I think a lot of time could have been saved had the advisor walked me through how to do it once at the very least.

Expertise with foresight of client goals can be withheld as beyond scope.

Good accountants weigh up your tax with your goals in mind and act in your interests. They do not seem to be a company that sees a client as more than a billing opportunity.

Unprofessional & Lacking Integrity

Having dealt with Baldwins for several years and service was ok until towards the Azets takeover. Key personnel left as Azets took over. Company and personal accounts were filed easily, but then previous accountant left who was thorough and knew her job, new guy turns up and everything is a problem. We submitted company accounts signed off on 20th Dec. Due to be submitted to HMRC by 31st March. Azets missed the deadline, we received penalty and paid. Couldn't get hold of anyone at Azets for a few days. Then new guy says it's our fault for not returning a signed form. After already signing the same accounts which were submitted to companies house. Then asked why they hadn't chased us, no reply. Then found they'd submitted to HMRC on 4th April, without this spurious missing authorization. Trying to blame client for an internal mistake. Then Manager unavailable, week goes by and fails to call when arranged. Then an email comes claiming the facts according to young guy are that we didn't sign an authorization. Also quite unbelievably says that not submitting to HMRC isn't as bad as if the Companies House deadline had been missed. (Well thank God for that!) Also won't refund the 100 quid penalty. Service has gone down the pan. Very unprofessional.
