Initially, my Alen was fantastic. AND THEN.

For context, I have chronic illnesses and am neurodivergent. I needed an air purifier that would last and not be noisy. For a couple years after I bought my 45i, I thought I'd found it. And then they decided to change the filter design by making the pre-filter built in. Why? So people can't change the pre-filter, so they have to buy a whole new filter more often. Greedy AND wasteful. The build-in pre-filters are also WAY, WAY louder.

That was bad enough, but my 45i started making a weird, awful sound -- I'm guessing they didn't do much testing on the older model with the new filters, because when (after 6 weeks of emails) they finally sent me a new one, it ALSO soon started making the awful noise. The ONE good thing I have to say about the company (or really the CS person I was talking to at that point) is that they quickly sent me out a new one after that.

Unfortunately, it only gets worse from there. The new machine they sent is the newer model of 45i, and it is SO. LOUD. It makes this god-awful high-pitched whining noise that sets my teeth on edge. Given the so-called "Forever Guarantee," (which, surprise!! they've added a lot of conditions to), I expected this to last me at least 10 years, or I never would have shelled out so much money for it.

The amount of my time and money this company has wasted is actually absurd.

I purchased 2 ALEN 45I purifiers when on sale. They come with a fantastic filter that gets replaced every year. When you sign up for automatic replacements, they confirm the date of your 1st filter and set your arrival date accordingly. PLUS by doing so you get a LIFETIME WARRANTY on your machines AND a 15% discount for your filters. I decided to upgrade to the filter that can filter wood smoke like forest fires in case it happened again in our area.
The 45I has an amazing computer chip that is SO sensitive that if I walk past it with some kind of fragrance on the indicator light changes from green to blue.
When I cook the kitchen smells turn the indicator light to RED indicating there are harmful particles in the air!!!
I also have one in the BEDROOM. Wow! What an improvement in sleep quality. NO MORE waking up with a stuffy nose! We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our machines.
For those reviews who were frustrated and confused about their filters, I was too! Sooo you PICK UP THE PHONE AND CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE! They will tell you what to get and place the order for you! NOTE: I am ALWAYS POLITE & am never rude to someone because their website was overwhelming.

I purchased several of these air purifiers and was very impressed with the original design. The units were easy to maintain and highly effective. The pre-filter in the earlier version attached with velcro, which made it simple to replace and significantly extended the life of the main filter. Unfortunately, the company changed the design to an all-in-one filter system. The new pre-filter is mesh and it does not perform as well and requires frequent vacuuming to maintain. Not only is this process inconvenient and labor intensive, but it also fails to clean effectively compared to the original design. If the company had continued offering the previous style of pre-filter for existing customers, this would not have been an issue. However, since that option is no longer available, the product has become much less user friendly and far less efficient. I'll swap them out for Blueair, their products are rated about the same and have a washable pre-filter.

Alen Air is amazing! They really stand behind their lifetime guarantee. I've had my purifier for over 6 years when it started squeaking. I tried all the suggested fixes, and the squeaking did not stop. They sent me out a brand new machine!
First, I love the air purifiers. I have kids and a dog, and I truly believe these are good for our health. And my home never smells.
Second, the customer service is amazing.
If you are looking for a great purifier, you have to get an Alen.

These are really high quality air purifiers that blow away every other purifier I have owned. I have a high allergy to pollen and can definitely feel the difference. They are much more quiet than the other purifiers I have owned. I love how you can see the color ring change so you know it is working, and the auto mode keeps the air always perfect. You can also download the app and see the graph for the exact air quality at any time.

This company is the WORST! They do not have the size of the filters on their website. And i can't make heads or tails out of which one will fit my machine. I ordered the wrong filter multiple times because i can't tell which one fits my machine. I can't get through on the phone. the chat is a stupid robot that cant answer my question. The email seems to go to a robot and I cant get an answer for the correct filter replacement. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

Purchased the I-75 last year and upon arrival, when plugging it in, it was defective. I returned it and cancelled the subscription for the filter. I just received a filter for that device I no longer own. Had to call customer service to get a Return label. Never received it via email so called again. This took 30 mins on the phone .. ABSURD!
Thought I'd give them another chance...
I took advantage of the BOGO deal and purchased 2 devices... One of them is DEFECTIVE AGAIN! So whatever you purchase full price or discounted, I'm 100% getting a defective item. Who does quality control here?

This device has no remote control, and the app sucks. Customer service agents are a hit or miss. I'll pass

Our Alen Air Purifier suddenly stopped working after an electrical power surge. We called the company and a tech had us try several things to start it again. Nothing helped. He asked how long we had had it and we thought 5 years. He looked us up in their system and discovered it was 8 years old. After checking our information he told up to expect a replacement, after Independence Day. Amazingly it arrived today, less than a week from calling.
Please understand this was still covered under the warranty, that the technician was extremely helpful and concerned and we have always been delighted with the unit's preformance.
I highly recommend this company and their product.

I haven’t even plugged the product in yet, but I had to review the company right away. So far, this experience has been phenomenal! I haven’t had customer service like this in quite some time! I received multiple emails keeping me updated on the progress. It even arrived sooner than I expected. I appreciate their dedication to an excellent customer experience.

We purchased a unit directly from Alen Corp about 5 years ago. The unit had an issue with the fan speed. Alen Corp simply had us send a photo of the unit and a cut cord. A replacement is being shipped out asap. We have loved and used our until almost daily since its purchase! Love these purifiers and Alen customer service is outstanding!!!

I originally purchased the BreatheSmart Air Purifier early January to help reduce allergens, dust, and pet dander. After several weeks of use reduction in dust and dander was quite noticeable (dusting became a weekly rather than a daily occurrence). I don't yet have any benchmark regarding the effectiveness of the allergen control. I'm sure that will come as we enter allergy season.

This product really works. I don't have to dust as regularly and my sinuses haven't acted up since I began to use it.

I have two BreatheSmart units that seem to be working very well. We have an unusually high volume of dust in our house. The source is probably our coal burner. We have used a coal burner for 25 years without this problem. So we can't be sure of the dust source. I will say the BreatheSmart units have helped a lot, but they have not removed 100% of the dust. We get a noticeable amount of dust every two or three days on the furniture. Before the BreatheSmart units were installed we could notice a lot of new dust on the furniture everyday. My next move is to shut down the coal burner to see what happens.
One of the units is noticeably noisier than the other when they are both running at the same speed. It seems like there is some internal vibration with the noisy unit.

I have bought 2 air purifiers over the past 7 years. I am able to control my allergies better with the air purifiers and have reduced how many sinus infections I have had over the years. I love the auto-ship feature with the filters. I know I'll get a new filter on a regular basis and I don't have to worry about ordering it myself.

Several years ago I bought an air purifier and arranged to automatically purchase a new filter every six months. The machine continues to work without a problem and filters arrive on schedule.

I purchased two purifiers from Alen and have really noticed the difference in the air quality in our home. The automatic order system is fantastic and always arrives on time. When I had a question about changing out the UV light they were extremely helpful and called me back right away. I always recommend this product to friends and family that come into our home and comment how clean and fresh the air is.

I don't know about you but I hate dusting the glass and cleaning the fan blades in my house. I also own a miniature Dachshund who continuously sheds everywhere and was searching for a purification system that would help control the situation. So a few months ago I had to Google "Top 10 Air Purification Filters" The results = 3 of the top 10 were Alen products. This was news to me cause I had never heard of this company. After some due diligence I bought (2) T500 because of the quietness and reviews I had read. I must tell you I was very impressed with the results. I noticed an immediate change in the air quality and dust levels have dropped off dramatically! Thank you Alen.

...but the customer service. A+ for a prompt response to my concerns and an even faster resolution. I'd deal with this company just because of my experience with their concern for customer satisfaction.

After many asthma attacks and countless rashes we found out that our oldest son- who is 4 years old is allergic to dogs. But we weren't about to re-home our piper dog without a fight. We did lots of research on air purifiers and decided on the Alen BreatheSmart and A350. They have made a HUGE difference. We run the BreatheSmart in our living room and the A350 in his bedroom. Our house has an open floor plan and is about 1700 sq ft total. It took about a week to see a difference with continuous use downstairs. Now we run it just at night and it keeps the air clean, crisp, fresh, and most importantly my sons symptoms greatly improved!!! We noticed a difference in the air with a350 in his bedroom just hours after running it! Also we have been using them for about 3 months and our electric bill barely changed! Overall we are VERY happy with these purifiers! Thank you Alen!
